Loft's Candies was founded by William Loft in 1860. By 1920 it was the largest retail chain in the country. In 1931 the Loft Candy Co. bought Pepsi-Cola, which had gone bankrupt earlier that year. Loft's Candies began to decline in the 1980s and all stores were closed by the mid-1990s.
This sign was uncovered when an awning was removed in 2016.
This picture was taken in the heart of Crystal Springs, Mississippi. Surely these signs are the work of the man who created this display (which moved a few miles up the road at some point -- but still in rural Copiah County, not in a town).
Here's one for all the Harley fans. This is in front of a little gas station convenience store on US Hwy 129 (The Dragon) beside the Little Tennessee River / upper part of Tellico Lake.
Swedish signs that makes absolutely no sense for english speaking tourists. :)

The British Road Signs exhibition celebrated the contributions of Jock Kinnier and Margaret Calvert to the design of road signs.
To mark this 50th anniversary leading artists and designers including Sir Peter Blake, Jonathan Barnbrook, Sir Kenneth Grange, Neville Brody and Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners transformed the familiar circle, triangle and square signs, instructing audiences to stop, look and consider the aesthetic rather than the content.

I took this picture in 2010, while on a trip to Idaho. I saw the sign for the very small town of Downey, Idaho. Being interested in small out of the way towns, I headed to Downey.
I spotted this old CocaCola sign on the side of the only grocery store in the town. Both the sign and the store were very old.
The Miracle Mile used to be THE place to stay for Tucson visitors.
USED to be. Now the area is run down, and it's the place to avoid.
