The Merdeka 118 building is designed with a mixture of diamond-shaped glass facades to signify the diversity of Malaysians. The design was made to resemble and inspired by [1st Prime Minister of Malaysia] Tunku Abdul Rahman's outstretched hand gesture while chanting "Merdeka!", when he proclaimed the independence of Malaysia on 31 August 1957. The project was funded by the Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), a state-owned enterprise of the Malaysian government, at a cost of more than RM5 billion. (Source: Wikipedia)

The sound of ripping and tearing at bark will signify the presence of the Crested Shrike-tit getting at arthropod prey. This is an arboreal insectivore consisting of 3 widely geographically separated subspecies (apparently they may be elevated to separate species). This one is ssp “frontatus” or Eastern Shrike-tit of the east and southeast of the continent. According to Wikipedia: “a bird endemic to Australia where it inhabits open eucalypt forest and woodland. It is the only species contained within both the subfamily Falcunculinae and the genus Falcunculus”. Seen actively ripping the place up in Diddams Close Park, Belconnen ACT

Silver pin signifying five years of service at my old company. It was a big deal and was accompanied by a lunch with my boss and his boss. Since his boss was unable to attend, my boss took me to an even nicer restaurant and I had my first and last escargots and frog legs* while a violinist roamed playing atmospheric music.

* For clarification I have had frog legs on a couple of other occasions, but never accompanied by violins.

The First Bus X6 route is a direct and quick way to get to Leeds from Bradford, taking about 40 minutes.

The history of First West Yorkshire's X6 route is primarily defined by its modern upgrades and frequency increases between Leeds and Bradford, rather than a long historical timeline for this specific express service. Key developments include the introduction of new buses, the enhancement of its combined frequency with the 72 route, and the implementation of new livery to signify its importance.

On Thursday 6th November 2025, First Bradford 35217 was seen operating Route X6 to Leeds City Centre.

Companionship signifies unwavering presence and support, regardless of whether it is actively needed or not.

Happy Macro Mondays everyone! I keep a collection of coloured paperclips based on the church's liturgical seasons. I use them to clip sets of prayers or pages of sermons together, matching the colour of the paperclip to the season of the year!

Green is used during ‘Ordinary time’ between the main festivals and seasons. This covers most of the year and can represent growth.

Red is used to either mark saints’ days where it represents their death as a martyr, or to represent the flames of the Holy Spirit for Pentecost.

Purple is used for times of penitence, preparation and waiting, the reflective seasons. Key times are Advent and Lent.

Pink (or Rose) is used just twice a year: once during Advent (Gaudete Sunday) and once during Lent (Laetare Sunday). On these Sundays, the Church takes a brief pause from penitential themes to rejoice in the coming joy of Christmas or Easter. The rose colour signifies this sense of joy and anticipation within a season of preparation.

Gold is reserved for key celebrations, for example Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.

White represents purity, in celebrations such as baptisms, weddings, and some funerals.

It is also used for celebrations either on its own or with gold, and for saints who did not die as martyrs.

Whitby Abbey was founded in 657 AD by the Saxon King of Northumbria, Oswy (Oswiu) as Streanshalh (Streonshalh). The name Streoneshalh is thought to signify Fort Bay or Tower Bay in reference to a supposed Roman settlement or Roman Signal Station that previously existed on the site.

He appointed Lady Hilda, niece of Edwin, the first Christian king of Northumbria, as Abbess of Whitby Abbey. The double monastery of Benedictine monks and nuns was also home to the great Saxon poet Caedmon.

In 664, the abbey, built on the east cliff overlooking the Esk and town of Whitby, was the site of the Synod of Whitby, at which the Northumbrian Celtic church was reconciled to Rome.

In 867, Whitby Abbey fell to Viking attack, and was abandoned until 1078, when it was re-founded by Regenfrith (Reinferd) a soldier monk, under the orders of his protector, the Norman, William de Percy.

The second monastery lasted until it was destroyed by Henry VIII in 1540.

The abbey buildings fell into ruins, and were mined for stone, but remained a prominent landmark for sailors.

Whitby Abbey became famous in fiction thanks to Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula, as Dracula there came ashore as a creature resembling a large dog and proceeded to climb the 199 steps which lead up to the ruins.

A gold wedding ring and a silver pocket watch signifying a timeless union.

The Summit Complex building is located at the summit of the Great Orme, Llandudno.

Click here for more photographs of Llandudno: www.jhluxton.com/Wales/Conwy-County-Borough/Llandudno

The site was previously used as a semaphore station forming part of the Holyhead to Liverpool telegraph system.

Between 1810 and 1829 a chain of telegraph signals was established along the North Wales coast from Holyhead. These signal stations relayed information about vessels arriving and departing Liverpool.

The telegraph station was later moved to Great Orme’s Head Lighthouse when it was built in 1862 by the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board.

After the closure of the Telegraph Station the original station became the Telegraph Inn serving visitors to the Summit of the Great Orme.

At the beginning of the 20th Century Griffith B. Morgan – catering manager of the Great Northern Railway and proprietor of the Clarence Hotel, Llandudno – purchased the Telegraph Inn for £1,500.

The plan was to turn the site into a hotel and create an 18 hole Golf Course on adjacent land.

Unfortunately the original project was not completed and the venture went liquidation.

The hotel was eventually completed on a reduced scale than originally envisaged, along with the golf course, aided by the support of a local golf club.

The Great Orme Golf Course closed with the outbreak of World War II with the land reverting to sheep grazing.

The Summit Hotel hotel – was requisitioned during the World War II and became RAF Great Orme Radar Station.

The end of the war signified a new era for the Summit Hotel. The property passed through various hands until it was bought and later restored by champion

middleweight boxer Randolph Turpin and Leslie Salts a loca businessman.

Unfortunately Turpin was not good at managing his business affairs and was forced to sell the business after being pursued by the Inland Revenue for tax debts incurred during his boxing career.

He was eventually declared bankrupt and took his life in 1966.

Took this dramatic image Mid Afternoon yesterday of an approaching storm arriving from the Irish Sea on the North Wales Coast - two miles distant over the North Easterly village of Rhyd y Foel using a Tamron 28-300MM lens.

Ten minutes later, the clouds were overhead - creating squally conditions with heavy rain and hailstones falling - indicative of this type of cloud.

Towering Cumulonimbus Clouds are a type of Cumulus Cloud associated with thunderstorms and heavy precipitation - producing rain, hail, thunder and lightning. They are formed beneath 20,000ft - are relatively close to the ground and the reason they have so much moisture.

Incoming on a North Westerly airstream, they would have continued gathering much moisture when crossing the Irish Sea before making land.

Europe; Holland; Waddeneilanden; Texel; Dunes; Stairs; Slufter; People; North Sea (uncut)

The Texel(Tessel) ferry crossing (from Den Helder) is spectacular but short. After arrival at 't Horntje one encounters a landscape that isn’t significally different from the landscape type that’s dominant in North Holland. But when you arrive at the spectacular ‘Slufter’ things change. It’s a zone where, very uncharacteriscally, the fight with the sea ended in a draw, resulting in an open and ever changing landscape that’s comparible with the Ria Formosa coastal parque in the Sotavento (Algarve, South Portugal), although the Ria Formosa is much bigger, it covers the entire coast of the Sotavento.

More about the Slufter: its a part of the Texel coast that’s in open connection with the North Sea. After a number of failed attempts to transform the area by ‘inpoldering’ (building a dike around it, drain it and turn it into an agricultural zone), at the beginning of the 20th century it was decided to let nature do its thang. The area consists of a creek system with wetlands that sometimes submerges after a storm or exceptionally high tide. Characteristic is the ‘kwelder’vegetation with plants like salt melt, sea lily, and the lamb’s ear (lam’s oor – a not very well known salty delicacy). The sea lily turns the area purple during the summer. The majority of De Slufter has the formal status of a hatching and resting area for birds - so only the southern part of the Slufter is freely accessible.

XMAS is still a month away, but Thanksgiving always signifies the time I shoot my yearly holiday photo with my pet. I did it every year with Lucy, and now I am starting the tradition with Monkey. Today was that day, though it is one day before Thanksgiving, I took advantage of bringing Monkey to school when the student population would be void. Everyone's home for the holiday. Yeah - a quiet campus! So with Monkey in her grey cashmere sweater, and me in my polyester sweater (I know, not even I have cashmere) I put up the backdrop and asked my coworker to shoot me with my camera. Can I just say those lessons from America's Next Top Model paid off. PROJECT THROUGH THE EYES, GIVE THE CAMERA ANGLES TO WORK WITH, and above all WORK IT!!!

May showers signify that the hot, dry season is getting ready to depart, replaced by the hot and wet season. Today's 20 minutes of rain was only a shower and just enough to dampen the sand and dust. I have a feeling that this year's wet season may be long and intense...just a feeling in my aged bones.

The photo has been cropped, hence the lack of details. It was also used to get an actuation count for my Nikon D7500...a count of almost 15,000...still a young camera. Maybe, I should get busy.

Prayers In The Bamboo Forest by Daniel Arrhakis (2024)

With the music prayers / Mantra : Gayatri Mantra 108 Times / Om Bhur Bhuva Swaha

youtu.be/v2QMWlVAyD8

The Gayatri Mantra is dedicated to Goddess Gayatri, considered the mother of the Vedas.

Mostly, Goddess Gayatri is depicted sitting on a red lotus flower, which signifies power and wealth. Furthermore, she can be portrayed with five heads, ten eyes (looking in eight directions), ten arms and holding the weapons of Vishnu, as it symbolizes the number of his reincarnations.

Goddess Gayatri can also be seen accompanied by a swan and holding a book in one hand and healing in the other, as the Goddess of Education.

Sânscrito Gayatri Mantra

“OM BHŪR BHUVA SVAR

"OH GOD OF LIFE WHO BRINGS HAPPINESS

GIVE US YOUR LIGHT THAT DESTROYS SINS

MAY YOUR DIVINITY PENETRATE US

AND IT CAN INSPIRE OUR MIND" (*)

Figuratively. Though a lowly "branch line" connecting CP's two transcon routes, CP's varnish decided to take this route to some meetings in St. Paul this week. One can only hope this signifies this lines importance should CP happen to succeed in connecting Mexico with Canada.

Just a mile out of Forada as indicated by the station sign.

. The Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), our national bird, is the only eagle unique to North America. The Bald Eagle's scientific name signifies a sea (halo) eagle (aeetos) with a white (leukos) head. At one time, the word "bald" meant "white," not hairless. Bald eagles are found throughout most of North America, from Alaska and Canada to northern Mexico. About half of the world's 70,000 bald eagles live in Alaska. Combined with British Columbia's population of about 20,000, the northwest coast of North America is by far their greatest stronghold for bald eagles.

There are two subspecies of Bald Eagles. The "southern" Bald Eagle, Haliaeetus leucocephalus leucocephalus, is found in the Gulf States from Texas and Baja California across to South Carolina and Florida, south of 40 degrees north latitude. The "northern" Bald Eagle, Haliaeetus leucocephalus alascanus, is found north of 40 degrees north latitude across the entire continent. The largest numbers of northern bald eagles are in the Northwest, especially in Alaska. The "northern" Bald Eagle is slightly larger than the "southern" Bald Eagle. Studies have shown that "northern" Bald Eagles fly into the southern states and Mexico, and the "southern" Bald Eagles fly north into Canada. Because of these finding, the subspecies of "northern" and "southern" Bald Eagles has been discontinued in recent literature.

To signify deep mourning, Santa Maria de Betania of Paete, Laguna is dressed in Black Italian Satin. The vestment is embellished with dramatic trompe l' oeil painting. Trompe l'oeil is a French term which literally means " to deceive the eye ". It is a style of painting in which subjects are depicted with almost three dimensional or photographically realistic details.

The painting for the vestment simulates the Spanish Baroque embroideries and the tedious technique implied different shades of gold and amber to replicate the gold threads of the Baroque inspirations . For full effect and detail, the handpainting is further enhanced with precious beadwork meticulously sewn by hand. Beadings consist of graduating sizes of champagne pearls , glass beads and rose cut Austrian Crystals added a great addition to this vestment design.

To convey our family's grief for the loss of a beloved Aunt, we opted to shroud the countenance of Maria de Betania with French Lace and Illusion tulle on the night of the procession.

Tao is Chinese concept signifying 'way' or 'path' and Tao Paradise (www.revistadeguste.com/noticia/1152) means the way to the paradise. This extremely remote location is found in a hidden village next to Touros (Brazil). The place has been opened to the public for the last few years and only 6 to 12 people are allowed to get in every day. It's definitely an amazing location worth the visit. It's a little bit tricky to get access to it but once you ask the right people then everything is easy peasy.

Happy Easter! (and happy blackout as well ;3)

Spring often signifies change & this year was no different as I, after having complained (reasonably) about Barbie needing to step it u in the past, have never wanted more dolls from the brand. The new wave of fashionistas might lack articulation but the fashions are on and their DIVERSITY is the best in my memory. I've never in my life seen an albino fashion doll (fight me on it if you must but to me this desiree mold is a girl with albinism) and from the moment I saw her I know she needed to be mine.

I was so fortunate to find both her & the super dark girl from this wave earlier this week at my local Walmart. Both still need names and I'm searching for just the right pale body for my lovely blonde but even without either the two have me hooked and now my heart is set on grabbing up more of their friends in the future (my poor Wallet!) .

( I also took a shot from the selfie perspective & will have a link of it on my tumblr later this week ;3)

The Full Moon of May is known as Flower Moon to signify the flowers that bloom during this month. Native Americans called it Budding Moon, Egg Laying Moon, and Planting Moon.

The Anglo-Saxon name for May’s brightest Moon phase is Milk Moon from the Old English Rimilcemona. It means three-milkings-month in modern English because cows were milked three times a day during this time of year. The Celtic and Old English names are Mothers’ Moon, Bright Moon, Hare Moon, and Grass Moon.

Many wildflowers bloom in May in the Northern Hemisphere, where these traditional Full Moon names originated. For example, many types of anemone, wild garlic, indigo, bluebells, lupine, sundrops, and violets, to name just a few. It is no wonder that the colourful displays these flowers create in nature have inspired people to call this time after them.

St Mary's Church stands on the site of a thirteenth-century Chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It has strong links to both the town of Newmarket and the horse racing community. The church is an active town centre parish church with a friendly congregation, serving the people of Newmarket and district and worshipping in the Anglican Catholic tradition.

The town of Newmarket was part of the parish of Exning until the sixteenth century but there has been a chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary on this site from the thirteenth century. The present building was rebuilt and extended on the south side in the fifteenth century but most of what we see now is the result of a series of major reconstructions carried out in 1857, 1867 and 1887.

In this Victorian period the north transept was converted into an aisle, the chancel was completely rebuilt and a new vestry was added alongside it. The tower is fifteenth century with a slim shingled spire set well back from the parapet and has a separate bellcote on one corner.

"Pastels" to my mind signifies illustration with some manipulation of a photograph. The image posed today is an illustration from a macro image of a live fly. The pastel shades on the wings are due to thin film interference (like the colours on an oil film). The colours on the body, somewhat paler in this illustration, are due to complex nano structures on the surface of the exoskeleton. A Dipterist will tell you the family from the pattern of wing veins. There was a time when books were filled with pen and water-colour illustrations of insects and flowers, hand-drawn with love by artists. It surprises me that no one is doing books now with illustrations from actual photographs, which must be more accurate, but are also works of art that show essential identification features more clearly in the same way.

In short, it was transformative. It seemed like there was always an orange sunrise or a rainbow around the corner when the day was difficult. I always managed to bring a positive attitude when things weren't going my way. 4am never looked so good. Content aside, it has been one of the best months of my life. Content considered, I don't know yet which pieces were keepers and which I'll cringe at in another month, but it's there now and it wasn't before. That is really something.

I am beyond excited to share with you all that I have just photographed my first Formica rufa ant of the year! This little red forest ant not only signifies the beginning of spring but also marks the start of my photographic season. As I embark on another journey capturing the beauty of nature, let me share some fascinating trivia about Formica rufa with you all!

🐜 Formica rufa, also known as the red wood ant or European red ant, is a species of ant that can be found in coniferous and deciduous forests across Europe and parts of Asia. They are known for their reddish-brown color and large, distinctive anthills.

🌱 These ants play a vital role in their ecosystems by preying on various insects, which helps maintain a balanced population of pests. In fact, one colony can consume up to 100,000 insects a day!

🏰 The anthills constructed by Formica rufa can be quite impressive, reaching up to 6.5 feet (2 meters) in height and housing around 100,000 to 400,000 ants! These mound-like structures are made up of twigs, leaves, and pine needles, which helps insulate the colony from extreme temperatures.

🌞 Formica rufa ants are known to be sun-worshippers! They often bask in the sun to regulate their body temperature, and the anthills are designed in a way to capture and retain solar heat.

These ants are also known for their cooperative behavior. They form "living bridges" by linking their bodies together to help their fellow ants cross gaps or reach higher places.

So, the next time you spot a Formica rufa ant, remember that you're witnessing one of nature's most fascinating and important creatures. Stay tuned for more updates on my photographic journey as I explore the beauty of spring and the wonders of the natural world! 🌼🍃

Wat Suthat Thepphawararam is a royal temple in Bangkok, Thailand. It is a royal temple of the first grade, one of ten such temples in Bangkok. There are 23 in the whole of Thailand. Construction was begun by King Rama I in 1807. Further construction and decorations were carried out by King Rama II, who also assisted, but the temple was not completed until the reign of King Rama III in 1847. This temple contains the Buddha statue Phra Sri Sakyamuni, which was moved from a temple in Sukhothai province. Sukhothai was the capital of the first kingdom of Siam in the 13th and 15th centuries. Twenty-eight Chinese pagodas are placed on the lower terrace of the base, signifying the twenty-eight Buddhas born on this earth. In 2005, the temple was submitted to UNESCO for consideration as an addition to the World Heritage List. The viharn of Wat Suthat is one of the oldest surviving buildings from the Rattanakosin era. It contains the main Buddha statue of the Wat. The Phra Si Sakyamuni is an eight meter high bronze Buddha statue. The temple is beautiful and is not inferior to the Grand Palace. The big advantage that you can take pictures inside and it is wonderfully quiet. The temple complex officially called Wat Suthat Thepphawararam is one of the largest in Bangkok and covers 10 hectares. The viharn of Wat Suthat is one of the oldest surviving buildings from the Rattanakosin era. It contains the main Buddha statue of the Wat. There is an 800 year old Sukhothai Buddha statue standing 8 meters high in a demure Mara pose. It was cast in Sukhothai and was brought to Bangkok by riverboat from an abandoned temple in Sukhothai. In 2016, the conservation team of the Office of Archaeology of Fine Arts Department found damage on the murals of the prayer hall. The department set aside a budget of 14 million baht for for the three-year renovation project, started last year and is scheduled to finish in 2019, but still working on it in 2022.

Thai Buddhism is represented most obviously by the thousands of beautiful, ornately decorated and colorful temples in the country. Restoration work at the royal temple, Wat Suthat Thepwararam, aims to restore the murals lining the walls of the prayer hall to their original grandeur. If nothing is done, there is a great risk that this priceless heritage will be gone forever. Wat Suthat underwent renovations from time to time. The grand restoration took place in 1982 as part of the celebrations to mark the 200th anniversary of Bangkok's founding. In 2016, the conservation team of the Fine Arts Archaeology Department found damage to the murals. The murals painted during the reign of King Rama III. Covering the interior walls on all sides, they depict a series of Buddhist and Hindu stories that form the foundation of the Siamese faith. In continuous swirls of colour, dimension and montage, the paintings narrate the life of Lord Buddha in vibrant colours. The murals, which actually cover the entire hall, start from 1 meter above the ground and continue up to the ceiling, which is about 30 meters high. This is the largest mural in a prayer hall in the Kingdom of Thailand.

Citroën unveiled the Citroën 2CV or Deux Chevaux signifying two tax horsepower and initially only 9 hp (6.6 kW), at the Paris Salon in 1948. The car became a bestseller, achieving the designer's aim of providing rural French people with a motorized alternative to the horse. It was unusually inexpensive to purchase and, with its small two cylinder engine, inexpensive to run as well. The 2CV pioneered a very soft, interconnected suspension, but did not have the more complex self-levelling feature. This car remained in production, with only minor changes, until 1990 and was a common sight on French roads until recently; 9 million 2CV variants were produced in the period 1948–1990.
