1966 Valiant Signet with a slant six and four speed. Canadian car. Sold for $1,750.

Two days ago I serviced a Kodak Signet 35 camera (from 1955) that I'd acquired recently. I had one of these 35 years ago, bought at a garage sale for something like $10. But back then I didn't know how to disassemble cameras and service them, and it was unusable in its condition, so I set it aside and forgot about it.

Fast forward to 2022 and I got another one, intent on cleaning it up and returning it to usability. (See: flic.kr/p/2mXJWBf)

This is from yesterday's test roll (delta 400 @200 ASA, processed in Pyrocat HD, 16 minutes). I'm impressed with the performance of the 44mm Ektar (Tessar) lens. Most of the photos I made at f5.6 or f8.

Originally the Swans had Six Signets but One must have died somehow. This pic is Three of the remaining Five.

Something I have learned in my photography journey is that most of us wont be surrounded by rare and exotic wild life but the common wildlife we are surrounded with can be photographed in rare and interesting ways. I love capturing different angles, animals doing interesting things. It turns "boring" animals into something quirky.

I loved how a close of this signets faced, cropped into half made for an atmospheric and slightly evil looking portrait.

Spent 4 hours looking for a decent shot. Saw the evening sun on the waterfall. Stage set. Along came this Gorgeous Signet. Snap - I'm a Very Happy Boy! 📷👍

This camera was given to me by someone who didn't know what to do with it anymore. It's probably my favorite small camera and rangefinder currently. I've been super impressed with its lens and have a ton of fun using it!
