Two days ago I serviced a Kodak Signet 35 camera (from 1955) that I'd acquired recently. I had one of these 35 years ago, bought at a garage sale for something like $10. But back then I didn't know how to disassemble cameras and service them, and it was unusable in its condition, so I set it aside and forgot about it.
Fast forward to 2022 and I got another one, intent on cleaning it up and returning it to usability. (See: flic.kr/p/2mXJWBf)
This is from yesterday's test roll (delta 400 @200 ASA, processed in Pyrocat HD, 16 minutes). I'm impressed with the performance of the 44mm Ektar (Tessar) lens. Most of the photos I made at f5.6 or f8.

Here a few early Robert McGinnis covers for the famous Carter Brown Signet-serie.

The Second Generation Plymouth Valiant spanned from model years 1963-66. The ‘Signet’ level was the highest level of trim. This one also appears to have a 'V8' emblem on the side of the fender, just ahead of the driver's door. That would have originally been a 273 cubic inch V8. At that time it would have been the least expensive V8-powered car offered in the US.
The first generation of Barracuda, Plymouth’s ponycar, was derived directly from this generation of Valiant.
Anyone else ever see or shoot with one of these? I never have...until now. 😊
I found this little gem on eBay. It's a Kodak Signet 40. They were produced from 1956 to 1959. Fully manual...no light meter. Unique triangle pattern rangefinder. It has a 46mm f3.5 lens...with a 400 max shutter speed. Lens was specially coated for optimal colors on slide film. This one has been cleaned and tested. It works perfectly and is in near mint condition. The leather case is perfect and smells like old leather. 😁
