Sheikh Qualandar Bobo Complex is an architectural monument is located in the Dishan-Kala (outer city) of Khiva. Its construction began in the 16th century, but could be completed only in 1894.
It is said that Sheikh Kalandar Bobo or Sho Qualandar Bobo was a sheikh of Sufis and came to Khiva with two dervish brothers to seek faith.
The complex includes a mausoleum, minaret and madrasah. This unique architectural monument is represented as a three-chamber tomb, from which unfortunately remained only domed building with a portal. It is surrounded by a large Muslim cemetery featuring distinctive above-ground domed tombs.
Taken in Khiva, Uzbekistan.

The meanders of the Dolores River are carved in stone, a signature that can be seen from space, a signature that will last longer than mine.
The Dolores River is in a trench to the right, and this view is looking downriver, toward its confluence with the Colorado.
Photo taken from a few miles upriver of Gateway, Colorado. Sagebrush and rabbitbrush grow tall where their deep roots reach a reliable source of water.

I'm away in Sydney and Melbourne over the next two weeks so thought I would bring along a photo of the beach to remind me of home...
My signature seagull at sunset :-)))
This is an image of the first hole at Stewart Creek Golf Course in Canmore, Alberta - one of Canada's top-ranked courses. I posted this image on my Flickr photostream only to allow me to access Flickr printing services, and I did not link the image to Albums or Groups, or add tags. After my printing needs were met, I intended to delete the image. Nonetheless, a goodly number of kind viewers have 'faved' the image (there must be a lot of golfers on Flickr), so I have decided to leave it on my Photostream. Thanks, everyone, and may you "hit them straight and long."
Having just crossed over the south bank of the Flathead River a couple of miles back, Day Gas empties are rolling along at a good clip nearing Perma on the 10th Subdivision.
Sure, this is one of the locations that everyone who journeys to the MRL shoots at but still it was very high on the target list for this trip. While it's always nice to compose one's own take on a famous location, I really wanted a do-over here due to the conditions on my first visit to Montana. There was only one Day Gas chase on that trip, and unfortunately it featured some of the worst wildfire smoke of the whole week: flic.kr/p/QcKDGV
A focus of my last two weekend trips to the Speedway was "tying up some loose ends" of locations that I had neglected or just wasn't happy with previous efforts. One of which was the famous Switch Tender in downtown Jackson, which somehow I had zero shots of a KCS train at even for as many trips to the area that had been made over the last 5 years. That was likely due to being one of the few places that works for eastbounds in the afternoon, and my usual plans would involve following westbounds over towards Vicksburg and Louisiana after lunch.
Anyway, to rectify that with about a month to go before the official takeover M-SHNS rolls through town on the half-mile of trackage rights over CN's former IC mainline to New Orleans. Of course in the background to the right is the famous Art Deco Standard Life building, now being renovated into loft apartments.
The Central West Streamliner tour to Bathurst and return climbs through the Blue Mountains with B61 leading and 4716 trailing. At Lithgow 4716 was swapped with GM10.
