Happy Holidays! Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Just want my life stooped and re-tape to the beautiful moment's

In alto i cuori!

non una foto carina, ma un messaggio: perché la nostra cara Rita oggi fa gli anni, a lei una gran vita!

(perdonate la mia assenza, troppe rogne, poca voglia e troppo poco tempo :()

(See it lit up.)

Another motel where the owner called me over. Again, I thought "Here we go", but another refreshing change. They chatted to me for a while, about why I like to shoot signs and motels, about roadside stuff in general, and then they told me some history about the place. They asked for my email address so they could send me some scans of a few vintage things from the place.

About a month after the trip, in came a scan of an old photo, an old ashtray, and an old postcard. Unfortunately, none good enough to repost here, but still... very nice of them. I don't know what the motel is like to stay in, but if it's like the folks I met, it must be pretty nice.

According to the 1954 postcard scan, this is not the original sign, but one from a bit later. (60's, I think)

I also love the slogan on the '54 postcard... "Comfort You Will Enjoy". Nice! :-)

The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. Sadly the 'Tillie' replica is getting very weather beaten.

At least in the Houston area. Took this on our vacation to Boston last year (2015) It was easy for me to remember that, because this is not a sign you would ever see in Houston, Texas...unless it was a joke.

Green light for the end.

This is in Manito Park in Spokane, WA. It's interesting the moderate attention this shot got considering pesticide spraying is the only reason some of the fragile plants there can survive. I guess everything's got at least two sides to it.

Another great area for exploring. We saw lots of different birds from the Bald Eagle, many different ducks, snow geese and Canada geese.

La Boca is a neighborhood, or barrio of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. It retains a strong European flavour, with many of its early settlers being from the Italian city of Genoa. In fact the name has a strong assonance with the genoese neighborhood of Boccadasse (or Bocadaze in genoese dialect), and some people believe that the Buenos Aires' barrio was indeed named after it. The conventional explanation is that the neighborhood sits at the mouth ("boca" in Spanish) of the Riachuelo.

In 1882, after a lengthy general strike, La Boca seceded from Argentina, and the rebels raised the Genoese flag, which was immediately torn down personally by then President Julio Argentino Roca.

It is known throughout the sporting world as the home of Boca Juniors, one of South America's top football clubs. La Boca is a popular destination for tourists visiting Argentina, with its colourful houses and pedestrian street, the Caminito, where tango artists perform and tango-related memorabilia is sold. Other attractions include the La Ribera theatre, many tango clubs and Italian taverns, as well as La Bombonera, home of Boca Juniors.

It has also been a centre for radical politics, having elected the first socialist member of Argentine Congress (Alfredo Palacios in 1935) and been home to many demonstrations during the crisis of 2001.

As one of Buenos Aires's 48 barrios, La Boca is located in the city's south-east near its old port. The barrio of Barracas is to the west; San Telmo and Puerto Madero are to the north.
