I came across this sign at an area park during a Sunday walk. It was tough to control myself but I did manage to stay within local regulations.
Ahhh, the mighty signs on the side of the superhighway. Unintentional sculptures of bad taste and gaudiness. But the sky is a vivid blue.

Not only old wooden doors can be beautiful. Some urban artist liked this decayed metal one so much that even decided to sign it ;)
Please see it LARGE to better appreciate all the details.

Obligatory photograph of the only remnant from Comiskey Park. The sign has been on the north side of W. 35th St. since at least the 1950s.
On the Southern bank of the Arno river in Florence we found a lot of these altered street signs. I'd photographed a few of them and then we stumbled upon the the street artists workshop / shop. It turns out they're the work of a French Artist called Clet Abraham, he's been doing it for about five years and although there was resistance at first the Florence authorities but now it's tolerated and even considered a tourist attraction.
You can read more about Clet here www.actoftraveling.com/2013/05/street-art-florence-traffi... and see more examples of his work on his Facebook page : www.facebook.com/clet.abraham

Thurton is a village in South Norfolk lying 8½ miles (13½ km) south-east of Norwich between Framingham Pigot and Loddon. Thurton is written 'Tortuna' in the Domesday Book. The suffix is the Anglo-Saxon 'tun', meaning an enclosed space. The prefix may refer to a thorn bush, or perhaps to the Anglo-Saxon god Thunor, whom the Normans called Thur. So Thurton may mean 'the place of the thorn bush' or 'Thor's enclosure'.
The village sign was cast at a foundry in the village and replaced the previous sign that stood for 40 years. The sign depicts an image of St. Ethelbert taken from a stained glass window in the village's parish church of St. Ethelbert.
