A large scale shuttle bus operation was put in place for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2026 at Herrington Country Park, Sunderland, with official travel partner Big Green Coach drafting in operators from across the North East and beyond to move thousands of festivalgoers across the weekend.
Shuttle services operated continuously between Heworth Metro Station, Park Lane Interchange and Durham Belmont Park & Ride to the event site from early morning until late evening.
The operation consisted of approximately:
• 30 vehicles from Go North East
• 25 vehicles from JH Coaches
• 15 vehicles from DM Motor Services
• 5 vehicles from Northstar
• 5 vehicles from City Transport / A&A Coach Travel
• 2 vehicles from Stanley Travel
• 2 vehicles from Shaws of Durham
Seen here in Carlisle operating the free shuttle service from Stagecoach Carlisle Willowholme depot open day, on Saturday 27th May 2017. Built at Lillyhall in 1978, this bus was Leyland's demonstrator REV01. Acquired by the Workington Transport Heritage Trust in May 2009. The bus was originally a 2 door configuration, fitted with a Leyland engine. It now sports a DAF power unit. Repainted back into original colours in 2015. (All info. This coming week, all rental car agencies at San Diego Airport will be consolidated into a central garage on the north side of the airfield, with shuttle service provided by the airport.

The vehicle was operating a shuttle service between Newhaven Harbour and the former royal yacht, “Britannia”, at Ocean Terminal for passengers off the cruise liner, “Costa Mediterranea”. The 85619 GRT liner lay offshore between Leith and Inchkeith and passengers were tendered ashore at historic Newhaven Harbour using the ship’s own tenders or Forthtours mv “Forth Belle”.

TSJ 64S is a Leyland Leopard PSU3D/4R/Alexander Y Type B53F. New to Western SMT as L2704 in 1977. It survives in preservation. It was taken at Lunderston Bay in Greenock whilst working as a shuttlebus during an open day event held at McGill's Greenock depot.

Zion National Park is located in southwestern Utah near the town of Springdale. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile (590 km2) park is Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles (24 km) long and up to 2,640 ft (800 m) deep. The canyon walls are reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone eroded by the North Fork of the Virgin River.
