The Global Intermodal 3 remotes work the west end of the yard as an eastbound prepares to depart in the distance.
Here's a Station Saturday bonus from this relaxing little impromptu chase through rural Washington County.
Veteran Alcos SNEX 408 (RS36 blt. Aug. 1962 as Norfolk and Western 408) and SCH 3501 (RS1 blt. Jul. 1951 as Dupont 107) are passing the old brick former Delaware and Hudson depot. I'm not sure when this station was built but it saw its last passenger train call in 1933 and then served as the village post office for many years. At the present time it is vacant and I'm not sure who owns it so if anyone has more info on its history and future I'd love to learn.
After passinng depot they will cross Route 61 / Main Street behind me in the center of the village at MP A132 (as measured from Albany the long way around via Castleton, Whitehall, and Mechanicville) along the old Delaware and Hudson Washington Branch as they continue their journey north to Greenwich Junction.
The 408 belongs to David Coppola's Southern New England Railroad and is one of two Alcos acquired from the Ontario Midland in 2023. It had suffered and ailment shortly before and was dead, leaving its elderly counterpart to do all the work for the trip north to Greenwich Junction. Affectionately known as 'Buttercup', the 3501 belongs to Hal Raven's Saratoga, Corinth and Hudson. Built for DuPont it worked at the Savannah River Site for decades during the height of the Cold War nuclear arms race. Later sold to the Huntsville Madison Airport Authority, it served the industrial park there until migrating north from Alabama in 2023.

On a bright fall afternoon in an almost park-like setting, a former Conrail Geep shuffles kaolin cars at the Jefferson Smurfit paper plant in Wabash, IN. This is Norfolk Southern's B46 local, which for a brief period in the fall of 2003 switched from a nocturnal schedule to this daylight one, allowing for some rare views along the "Wabash Industrial" track.
One of the larger active train trestles in the rolling hills of southern Indiana. These old bridges are incredible tributes to engineering and man's competition with nature.
BNSF Y NTW1542 15 makes a move forward for headroom as it shuffles a string of baretable flats at Union Yard. After a few more switch moves, they will pull east toward Midway. The Minneapolis skyline can be seen in the upper right of the frame.

Indiana Railroad's SAHW Manifest out of Indianapolis, bound for Jasonville, shuffles over Shuffle Creek near Lake Lemon and Unionville powered by a pair of their pristine SD9043MACs. Today's train would have to wait at Switz City for a couple hours awaiting the arrival of counterpart HWSA so the two crews can swap and head back toward their respected terminals.
With a pair of Federal Railroad Administration track geometry vehicles in tow, a Union Pacific locomotive pulls Norfolk Southern train 906 west through Williams Grove. The colorful train is passing by Turkeyfoot Nursery, which is just opening for Spring planting season.
The two FRA cars are being shuffled from Harrisburg to Hagerstown for an inspection tour of CSX tracks. The best I can tell, that little car is a former US Army mess car that was later surplussed to Amtrak where it was converted to a baggage car, working long-haul trains in the years before finding its way to FRA service.
Rio Grande SD9 No. 5312 shuffles cabooses 01466 and 01464 in Provo, Utah on a wintery Oct. 24, 1975 morning in Happy Valley.
Well, these little bunnies are now almost 2 weeks old & they certainly are on the move. It was difficult to keep them all in one place whilst i took the picture. One of my young sons suggested sellotaping them together but i don't think they would appreciate that tactic.
Their eyes are almost open & will be eating solid foods in another week.
I have taken this using my new 'Lightscoop' device which bounces the flash around the room creating a more natural look & at the same time saves the flash pointing directly into the bunnies eyes.

This freestyle outline feels like I reached into a hat and pulled out a letter from different years that I have painted. I started free styling the G, which I sketched 6 years ago, and somehow my mind went into shuffle mode. Not sure I ever found my rhythm on this one, but I make no apologies... It was fun to paint. I don't dwell on them... Pack it up and on to the next! (2022) ***HIT THE ZOOM BUTTON!!! take in the details... Thats why its on Flickr , and not shits-tagram
Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) MP15AC no. 152 (EMD, 1975-1984) is seen approaching the 11th St grade crossing as it shuffles out of Long Island City Station in the Queens neighborhood of the same name. 152 is the current protect engine for the LIC terminal, idling nearby on a short siding on the Lower Montauk Branch ready to spring into action in the event of equipment failures in the terminal. On this day it did get to see some action! A very exciting trip to the terminal for refueling, so that it could happily go back to idling!
