Would the Lido Shuffle ‘open water concert’ survive into 2014? Sir Bozzwell Scaggs threw the guitar Fender into the lake and a hand reached up and laid it on a golden throne: ‘The show must go on!’
After identifying the unused cards I decided to distribute them among the PCs at home. Now it stands like this:
Henrietta: GeForce 8800 GT + Quadro FX 570
Gothleader: Quadro FX 570
Redgoth: Quadro NVS 440 + Quadro NVS 440 (one PC, 8 video outputs!)
Token: GeForce GTX 285 + Quadro FX 570
(All my PCs have SouthPark character names... even my network laser printer is called Chef :-D)
Unused: GeForce 6600.
To be returned to their “rightful owner” as soon as I can dump them: Radeon X300, Radeon X300SE, Quadro FX 1700.
(Incidentally, thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster for Linux! I remember what a nightmare changing video cards was in the old Windows days... you had to uninstall the old drivers, shut down the computer, remove the card, turn it back on, hunt down the new drivers and, if you manage to find a suitable version, install them... :-P -- In Linux things just work out of the box :-)
