Vincent leapt to his feet and bolted past Aiden, shouting over his shoulder as he ascended the stairs, "Grab your tools and get up here!" He burst through the door and looked around wildly, seeing the ominous, black smoke billowing up from the engine. He could see Damien trying to peer down through the smoke. "Damien, get away from there!" he ordered as he began to force his legs to move towards the boiler. Already, the ship was starting to lean forward, bow* first!

Damien jumped up and clung to the metal rods coming from the engine over the boiler as he peeked over and watched as Vincent knelt down before the boiler, inspecting it and getting a face full of smoke. He coughed and peeked at the wheel gear as it slowly turned. It didn't seem like anything was caught in there. So what was going on?! It seemed like there was a pressure release of some kind. And then it dawned on him what was wrong! A few days ago, Aiden had come to him to tell him that some of the pipes were wearing down and needed repairs at an actual shop. He'd planned to get them checked when they made their round to the next major city. It seemed that the pipes were thinner than they had thought!

"AIDEN! I NEED YOU HERE NOW!" he bellowed over his shoulder. From above, Damien asked, "What can I do?!" Vincent choked on the smoke and glanced up at him, worry flashing in his eye as he responded, "Be ready to run for the helm!" There wasn't really anything Damien could do. Not really. He looked over his shoulder, seeing the angle the ship was starting to take. Damn it! Where was Aiden? They were going to die for sure if he didn't hurry! "AIDEN!"

Aiden could hear the captain calling for him but it was hard to decide what tools he needed. He grabbed what he thought would work best and fought his way up the stairs to the deck. The gravity of the ship's descent was making it exceedingly hard to get around.

"I'm here!" he exclaimed as he burst through the door. As he ran across the deck to assist the captain, he began to realize what was wrong. It was that damn pipe he'd told the captain about! It was just like his first day aboard Leon's Claw but much more serious! Aiden ran around the gear and was about to set down the tools when all of a sudden, the engine of Leon's Claw stopped running! The quietness was eerily terrifying! The gear beside Aiden halted completely and his eyes stared, wide-eyed as the ship began to lean forward more and started to nosedive towards the faces of the nearby mountain range!

With the sudden shift of the ship's angle, Vincent slipped onto his side painfully and desperately clung to what he could! It was a dangerous position since he was right in front of the boiler! His feet clung to the pipes and he grasped hold of the hot release valve over the opening of the boiler as the air tried to whip him off the deck! He glanced up and saw Damien gripping what he could to stay steady. Aiden, on the other hand, had thrown himself over one of the large metal pipes and was clinging to a large wrench as smoke and ash covered his face and arms just like Vincent.

"Aiden, give it here!"

"It's those pipes I was telling you about! I'm so sorry, I-"

"Don't worry about it now! Just give it here!"

Vincent grasped the wrench and began to pull himself up along the wooden floorboards and reached into the opening under the wheel and began to feel around for the break. It was very easy to locate and thank God it was easy to reach but damn it was hot!

"Aiden, do you have that tape with you?!"

"Here!"

Aiden held out the tape he'd quick-fixed other pipes with as Vincent reached out and leaned up right against the wheel to grab it. He shoved both his arms in with the tape and wrench and began to fix the pipe. From above, Aiden watched in fascination as the captain worked hard to keep them alive. Even though it was Vincent doing the work, he was glad to be able to help.

From the other side, Damien stared and watched as the other two worked hard. He knew Vincent knew the ship entirely and could work any position on it. But what bothered him was that he, Damien, couldn't do anything to help and he felt more helpless than he'd ever felt before. He hated it! His eyes shifted towards Aiden as he clung to the pipe, responding back to Vincent as they went back and forth helping each other get this fixed. In that moment of terror, he also felt a bit of jealousy. Aiden was the one helping Vincent while he stood there doing nothing!

It all happened so fast but it felt like a damn eternity when finally there was a sputtering sound and the engine began to roar to life once again. Moving quickly, Vincent pulled himself out of the way of the wheel as it began to turn! "Damien, get to the helm*!" Vincent ordered, eye wide as he clung tightly to the release valve. He glanced up and saw the terrified look on Aiden's face. "Hold on tight!" Vincent warned him.

The propellers began to kick on once more and the fire in the boiler flamed strongly. Miraculously, Leon's Claw began to slow its descent! At the helm, Damien began to straighten the ship as he prayed this would work quickly! It only took another minute and Leon's Claw was stationary in the sky, the smoke slowly dissipating.

Vincent pulled himself to sit up and looked around before flopping back once more and staring up at the sky and sighing in relief. "Fucking Hell!" he groaned aloud. Behind him, Aiden groaned and pushed himself to sit up on his knees a little better, draped bodily over the metal he'd been clinging to. "I could have gone the rest of my life and not had to experience that," he said hoarsely. Snorting, Vincent glanced up at him while upside down. "You and me, both, kid." He pushed himself to sit up and slowly stand, brushing his hair back out of his face as he glanced around. "Damien, is everything okay up there?!" he called out. "Yeah, everything is fine!" came his response a second later.

Vincent turned and glanced back at Aiden, wanting to check on him and make sure he was alright but found Aiden staring at him with wide eyes. "What?" he asked, feeling self conscious. He didn't like being stared at; never did. Aiden suddenly broke into a bit of a grin. "That was fantastic! You were brilliant!"

Taken aback by his enthusiastic praise, Vincent stared wide eyed. "What did I do?" he asked genuinely. Aiden folded his arms over one another over the metal pipe and replied, "What did you do?! Are you serious?! Come on, you just jumped right in and saved our asses! You're the most epic captain ever!"

Vincent continued to stare back into those excited, brilliant blue eyes of Aiden's as he felt a blush coloring on his cheeks before looking off to the side in embarrassment. "I only did what needed to be done. You can't call yourself a captain if you don't know how to work every position and know every nook and cranny of your ship." He gave a small shrug, dismissing his brilliant save of Leon's Claw and its crew as if it were an everyday kind of thing. Aiden was surprised by this dismissive response and replied, "Yeah but it was still brilliant!"

"It was nothing."

Aiden blinked and then scowled slightly in a playful manner as he huffed and pressed his chin in his hand and said just loud enough for Vincent to hear, "You're incorrigible, Captain."

"So?! This is what I do! I'm- I'm not just a pretty face you know!"

The response was so unexpected that Aiden suddenly burst out laughing as he stared back at Vincent who looked so completely serious. The captain was always so stoic!

"Captain, you made a joke!"

Vincent stared at him and then rolled his eyes and sighed. However, there was a slight twinkle in his eye that Aiden recognized. It meant the captain was amused!

"If you're not injured, go ahead and go below deck and check that tape. I'll be down in a minute." "Yes Sir!" Aiden snickered as he went to do as he was told. Vincent watched Aiden go. Once he was heading below deck, Vincent gave a small shake of his head and a smirk as he went to go check on Damien. He had to admit...that had been kinda funny after all.

Original painting by David Stokes

It's taken a while, but I just had to add this place to my 100x as I think it was my favourite place I visited this year.

It's the Otagi Nenbutsu-Ji temple in Arishiyam, Kyoto, well worth a visit if you ever head to Japan.

The temple was originally founded in the 8th century but had to be moved in 1922 due to floods and fire, it was then severely damaged by a typhoon in 1950. It took 30 years to fix, and when it was done the worshippers donated 1200 Rakan figures. A famous japanese sculptor even taught amatuers how to carve.

It is the most amazing collection of figures, all so different. The one in this picture with his mouth open is often used to throw coins into. The temple is also off the beaten track a bit, so if you take the time to visit, you may even have the place to yourself. A highlight of 2015.

Temples aren't nearly so plentiful in Taipei as they were in Bali, but when you find them they definitely stand out!

Iron Heights Penitentiary-2342 hours

The darkness of his cell once bothered Leonard Snart. It doesn’t anymore though. He recalls the first time he got arrested, at a mere sixteen years old. His father had gone on a drunken splurge that night and started shouting at his little sister, Lisa. She was only four, and was so scared. Len watched with horror as his dad slammed his hand against her face. He remembers his rage consuming him, and in a fit of anger he jumped onto his dad, pulled him down, and began beating him. Later that night, he was found hiding out in a diner outside of Keystone and taken into custody on charges of assault. Juvenile detention helped Len get comforted to the dark, along with pain and cold. After a month, he was let back out and behaved as well as he could. Once he turned eighteen, he grabbed Lisa and left while his dad was robbing a party store. Clarence Snart would be caught that night and sentenced to life for multiple offences. They never went back. Lisa moved in with their aunt in Central while Len spent some years working storage at a S.T.A.R. Labs warehouse for easy cash before leaving and starting a small crime organization. It all changed for him, though. That night when the S.T.A.R. Labs particle reactor changed everything. It released a wave of energy that hit Len, knocking him into the cold storage unit at a place he was hitting. When he awoke, he saw he now had the ability to create blasts of ice from his hand.

He looked down and focused on his hand. A dim blue light attempted to envelop his hand. After one second however, it went out. He groaned and rubbed his hand along his face. When his powers began fading, he sought help from S.T.A.R. It turned out that his blood had began to reject and destroy his metahuman cells, causing his powers to go berserk. In one last swansong, he attacked the people who gave him the news and took three inventions of theirs. That’s when he met her...The Flash. She came out of nowhere, zooming into the lab like a red bullet. They fought for one second before he got the upper hand. Whoever she is, she wasn’t an experienced fighter. So how did she end up stopping him? Especially with his newly formed Rogues? His mind flashed to that night when they fought and remembered how he felt that night. So much pain and fury. He once again felt his face, and ran his fingers across several scars on his face. The ice that had covered his head once his powers finally gave out had been removed soon after he was arrested, but he didn’t go unscathed.

His thoughts escape him when he hears a distant rumble from within the prison. He gets up and tries to peer out his door. Guards run by him, shouting and drawing their weapons. One stops in front of Len’s cell and begins to open fire. Suddenly, a scarlet ball of lightning surrounds the guard and he drops, dead. The ball then appears in front of him and stabilized into a man dressed in black armor. Red and black electricity sparked around him, and he stared at Len with scarlet orbs for eyes. His hand moved down to the door and pressed against it. The door began to shake violently before it crumbles to the ground like dust. The being seemed to grin at Len from under its mask before handing him an object. Len looks down and smiles slightly. His cold-gun, with what seems like an upgrade. He points at one of the guards running towards them and fires, encasing him in a thick barrier of subzero ice. The figure points him to the end of the hall, and he sprints to the area. While he’s running by, he glances at the bodies of the guards and sees projectiles sticking out from them. Some have shards of glass, while others have boomerangs.

Once Len got to the end of the hall, he couldn’t believe it. There was a dead end. Nothing was at the end except for a large pane of glass (likely the observation room) and cells. He turned around and leaned against the window, growling in defeat. What he didn’t expect was to feel a hand grab him and pull him through the glass. He fell through and fell onto the floor of what looked to be somewhere underground, an old storage room in the subway system, perhaps. He heard a screeching sound above head. Definitely subway system. A cough came from behind him, and he looked to see a man standing there. From what he’s heard, this must be the Mirror Master. Next to him was a girl in a black suit holding a boomerang. She looked at him and winked.

“‘Ow you doin’, lad?”

“What is this?!” Len yelled, but a rushing sound stopped him. The black form appeared from the other side of the glass and dropped three smaller (compared to him) forms. Len immediately recognized them as his fellow Rogues, Mick and Mardon, and Jesse James, the infamous Trickster. The black form stood in front of all of them and grinned.

“Hello, my friends. Now starts a new era. The return and rebirth of the Rogues. Now tell me…

“Who wants to kill the Flash?”

Thanks for reading, guys! Just a little heads up, this is the first issue under a new schedule I'm going to have. Next Sunday (hopefully) will be a new installment of Fantastic Four, while the Sunday after will be RR. So the two series will alternate.

These two Plain's Zebra's are using the best proven method of sorting our your differences, by shouting at each other.

Watching a herd of Zebra in the National Park is indeed very interesting, one minute all is calm with all the stallions feeding next to each other and suddenly all hell breaks loose. With a lot of braying and biting at each others legs, after which the winner is decided and the pecking order has been established for upcoming breeding season.

Hoof and I were busy chatting over breakfast and scheming as to what mischief we could get up today when Horace roared into the room shouting pink light, pink light, we knew what this meant history was about to be made, the bungee jump was on.

We checked data from around the world including sources such as NASA, The Met Office, and Farmers Weekly, conditions were near on perfect all bar a 25mph wind yet Horace felt he could deal with that, we were good to go.

With no time to lose Hoof and I made a packed lunch while Horace sat down to breakfast (could this be his last one) he tucked into a large bowl of Wheaty Bangs and All Bran, shaken but not stirred.

Those of you that read all of these true accounts will remember that a second secret jump site had been mentioned, well this was masterminded by Hoof’s PR company back at that time, and it was fake news, mention the word secret and the press will go to great lengths to find out about it, so Hoof contacted his PR company who tipped off the press that the jump was going to happen today and camera crews and reporters from all over the world went to the secret jump site, which allowed us to get on with this stunt in private.

However although Horace is publicity adverse, he will never forget his roots, and provided the jump is successful he has agreed to give interviews to ‘The John Deer owners club’ and of course, ‘Practical Pigs Magazine’ who are doing a special offer of 4 issues for £14.36. google should you wish.

Sadly Mrs P was unable to accompany us today as she had to get the ingredients for the Christmas cake, the sight of Horace’s little trotter as it waved goodbye to Mrs P was a sight that will live with me forever.

The atmosphere began to change as it was time to saddle up and make our way, you could feel the emotion in the air, Horace began to pace up and down, was this the first sign of nerves, or was the All Bran having an effect.

We arrived at the jump site, Horace was adamant as all the training and preparation had been done he was going to carry out this stunt without the aid of a safety net or any recovery support vessels in the estuary.

Horace Hoof and I had a group hug, and Horace strode off across the bridge purposely like John Wayne entering a western bar on a bender.

And as they say the rest is history. Horace has said he will make one more public appearance on Flickr before Christmas, subject to the Vicar’s permission, watch this space.

A big thank you to all that join in with these shenanigans that can only happen in this wonderful county of Cornwall, your comments and banter is so appreciated 🐷🐎😎😂😂

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King

The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,

“Hosanna!”

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

“Blessed is the king of Israel!”

Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written:

“Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;

see, your king is coming,

seated on a donkey’s colt.”

At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.

Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him. So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

[John 12:12-19 NIV]

5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)

2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)

3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)

4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)

5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)
