3Plex kent drie shifts. Voor de eerste shift komen designer Joost Alferink (WAACS Design & Consultancy), architect Theo Deutinger (TD*) en kunstenaar Suchan Kinoshita naar Groningen. Ze krijgen de opdracht om elk een bar te ontwerpen en krijgen daarvoor exact dezelfde tijd en exact hetzelfde materiaal. Hun bouwperiode start op 6 september en eindigt precies tien dagen later. Als de tijd verstreken is, worden de bars feestelijk opengesteld voor publiek en worden ze twee weken tentoongesteld.

Over de ontwerpers van de eerste shift:

Theo Deutinger startte onlangs zijn eigen bureau: TD*. Daarvoor was hij een aantal

jaren werkzaam voor Rem Koolhaas’ AMO, de onderzoeksafdeling van OMA. Hoewel ook bouwend, is TD* vooral een conceptueel denkend bureau dat zich toelegt op de combinatie strategie, architectuur en media. TD* hecht aan de geografische, historische en politieke context en acht dit belangrijker dan schaal. Als conceptdenker publiceert hij

geregeld in Vrij Nederland.

Suchan Kinoshita (Tokio, 1960) houdt zich internationaal bezig met tal van

grensgebieden: binnen en buiten de muren van het museum, met of zonder een actieve inbreng van het publiek, herkenbaar als kunstwerk of gecamoufleerd. Kinoshita stript

gewone, dagelijkse voorwerpen, vaak uitgewerkt in simpele bouwmaterialen, van hun traditionele identiteit om zodoende de kijker bewust te laten worden van hun alledaagse beslommeringen als iets nieuws te laten ervaren. In 2003 besteedde het

vooraanstaande Museum van Hedendaagse Kunsten in Antwerpen (MuHKA) in een grote overzichtstentoonstelling aandacht aan het werk van Kinoshita. Joost Alferink (WAACS Design & Consultancy) gaat niet uit van een vaste

vakopvatting, maar van wat een opdrachtgever voelt en doet. Emotie is hun katalysator.

Volgens deze internationaal opererende product designer moet een designer alles kunnen maken. Van koffiemachines (bijvoorbeeld de Senseo) tot inrichtingsconcepten.

Water flows from a large weeping rock and ends in a formal geometric pool at the entrance to the Great Lawn.

As part of the Power Shift 2011 Conference, thousands joined the polluter protest at the White House, the U.S Chamber of Commerce, and at the headquarters of dirty energy industries.

Over 5,000 young climate leaders joined AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, Cherri Foytlin of Gulf Change, and 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben at a polluter protest in front of the White House this Monday. They demanded that the President and Congress stand up to Big Polluters, protect the Clean Air Act, and make corporate polluters like BP pay for their pollution.
