Specially in north-east Asian countries; knife sharpening is still a career for some. There are few who roam around sharpening knifes at different localities and earning their lively hood; in India. This guy has managed to place himself near one of the busiest places in Bangalore; Bamboo Baazar; just in front of Russell market.

Manu got some pencils and sharpener from people, maybe as a return gift on a birthday party and as a 2 year old he didn't knew any use of the pencil and he only use of the sharpener was to stick a pencil in it and keep rotating it to produce those wonderful flaky things.

"Most of us spend lots of time in a workspace of one kind or another. Show us your workspace in a photograph." Still catching up on old dailyshoots. I've given up on going in order, and am just carrying the list around as inspiration. The sound of one of these pencil shapeners is rarely heard anywhere but in classrooms. While my classroom is hardly a traditional school room, the sound of the pencil sharpener and the smell of Pink Pearl erasers are so 'school' for me that I wanted to include at least one of them in my workspace photo.

This is quite typical for istrian fields. Having a small shack or cabin near the field for storing the tools, and most importantly having an old very simple but useful tool sharpener ;). Cute
The large pencil sharpener in the foreground is a Bostitch...and it's my new studio pencil sharpener. We were each encouraged to bring an electric sharpener in order to keep our pencils needle sharp. I love my sharpener (the quietest in the room). Some artists flew across country to this workshop.. but the size of my sharpener made me glad I was 'home' in my own studio! that size on a plane from the east, south, or west
