The most well known route to scale one of the Lake Districts most well known mountains, favoured by the more adventurous and less frail lol, here seen in almost its total length. Luckly with no one crossing apart from the guy in red...

Sharp Edge - Blencathra.
A shot from my archives.....
A view looking from Foule Crag across 'The Bad Step', the 'Gendarme' and the arete of Sharp Edge, a climber can be seen enjoying the traverse of the ridge.
Its nice to see the ridge so devoid of climbers!.
The original image was taken on a Ricoh KR-10M SLR using Fuji 'Fujichrome' 200 ASA colour slide film. Scanned using a Plustek 7400 slide scanner, post processed using Adobe Photoshop.

The top view of a casino and you know how hard it is to take a picture in a Casino with all the security :S Also I had to repost cause of the ugly watermark. I can't think of anything else. Any suggestions would be appreciated
A snail I found in an indoor garden covered with different types of fresh roses.
Also Just trying my new watermark / logo to see how it works :D

The yucca is a member of the lily family and a symbol of sturdiness as well as beauty. In the early summer, pale ivory flowers bloom at the tips of its long, fibrous stalks. At the base of the plant are broad, sharpedged leaves that look like stilettos. The yucca sometimes grows to the height of a small tree.

Interesting architectural style. All sharp angles - and how do you furnish a place like that! You could easily get cornered.
This view is looking south, with Thirlmere on the left and Derwent Water on the right, with Bleaberry Fell and High Seat between them. The main A66 snakes along the very bottom of the shot to Keswick.
This is a pano of 5 portrait shots, taken with the zoom (had the wrong lens on - doh!). Given the image's size, it's worth looking in lightbox at this one.
Back in 2004 Jayne and I were walking in the Lake District at any opportunity and would drive up early to get a day on the Fells. At this point we were working our way around the 214 Wainwrights for the first time. The photos have been mostly ignored, Taken with my new Canon 10D, I had some prints made – and filed them! I wasn’t that impressed with them
I decided to run them through Lightroom the other day and see what was usable. As ever with my early digital stuff blown Highlights were a problem but most have edited to an acceptable degree. Like previous photos from the 10D they have a slightly painted look about them, not quite natural or maybe that's just me seeing them that way.
Easter Sunday and we arrived at Scales below Blencathra - or Saddleback its other name. The cloud was down on the tops as we made our way up Scales Fell to Scales Tarn. We were going up the infamous Sharp Edge for the first time. Cloud was swirling in and out and it was quite busy, the Edge itself wasn’t a problem. We walked to Blease Fell at the southern end of Blencathra, back to the white cross and down Foules Crag onto Mungrisedale Common. The sun was out and it was becoming a glorious day. Out next to Bannerdale Crags, A bite to eat at the top of the crag and the around to Bowscale Fell. This is where I decided we would aim straight for Souter Fell and claim another top. This meant going straight down The Tongue, which was pathless, Crossing the River Glengeramackin ( what a name) and straight up the side of Souter, again no path, very steep and the sun beating down. This was the sort of thing we used to do on a regular basis. When there isn’t a path on the ground there’s usually a good reason. From here it was back to Scales.
We covered 15 miles and five Wainwrights. When we got home I washed the car and then we walked to Slaithwaite and back. According to the diary we were sunburnt, April 11th 2004. Suffering from rust now not sunburn.

A real find from my archives tonight. Sharp Edge and Foule Crag, Blencathra, from the White Horse path.
This is the Northern aspect of the ridge, the crenellated outline of which can be seen. The notch of the 'Bad Step' and 'Usual Gully' are clearly seen also. Mist is seen clearing the top of Foule Crag, Atkinson Pike is out of shot to the right.
A very blustery day on the fells for sure!.

Blencathra panorama.
Blencathra, as viewed from the road between Troutbeck and Wallthwaite.
The alternative name is 'Saddleback'. The Saddle is the depression between the mountain sumit and the top of Foule Crag, to the right.
Gategill Fell, Halls Fell, Doddick Fell and Scales Fell illuminated beautifully. The forshortened profile of Sharp Edge is seen to advantage here, with the slopes of Atkinson Pike in shadow.
The Coledale group of fells are seen in sillhouette here.
Sharp Edge - Blencathra.
The view looking towards Foule Crag, Blencathra, across the rocky arete of Sharp Edge.
An exhilerating rocky ridge. Straightforward in dry conditions, completely different in the wet!.
I've already posted a version of this image to Flickr.
I've re-scanned this image, 8 passes at 3600dpi.. Very satisfied with the end result. The scan has brought out the details in the rock beautifully.
If you view this image 'original' size, you will find eleven climbers on the ridge and on Foule Crag.
The original image was taken on a fellwalk in September 1996. The camera used was a Ricoh KR10-M SLR, using Fujichrome 200ASA slide film. Scanned using a Plustek 7400 slide scanner and post processed using Adobe Photoshop.
The Devil's Golf Course is a large salt pan in Death Valley National Park, with a rough surface formed of large salt crystals. It was named after a line in a 1934 National Park Service guide book to Death Valley, which stated that "only the devil could play golf" on its surface.
Sharp Edge - Blencathra.
The view from the outlet of Scales Tarn, the impressive serrated outline of Sharp Edge is viewed.
On closer inspection, five climbers can be seen traversing the ridge.
The photograph was taken during a fellwalk in the Summer of 1996, using a Ricoh KR10-M SLR, using Fuji 200ASA print film, post processed using Adobe Photoshop.
Somewhere soon after this, my desire to take photographs was overwhelmed by concern for my safety. I was amply rewarded in my concern by finding that I was still alive, drawing breath and free of pain or injury as I finally surmounted Foule Crag.
The Keswick Mountain Rescue Team maintain some interesting notes as regards Sharp Edge.
