Shizandra isn't much of a shark, so I used Sharky for this photo.

Yesterday Michael Phelps was beaten in a race with a Great White Shark, I often race with one along the high street and win every time.
Here's a shot of the lovely Lucy, one of Guadalupe's well-known female great white sharks, in order to celebrate the time of year where so many people seem to be interested in sharks.
Lucy, who is easily recognized by her damage caudal fin (tail), has been featured on multiple documentaries over the years and is one of my favorite sharks to dive with.
It's shark week, and Dolce made a big catch to celebrate. It's very shocking, especially considering that he's standing in front of a lake in Oklahoma (which are not really known for their shark populations).
Persephone is a female great white shark who was first documented at Isla de Guadalupe last fall.
During the later months of the year (August-December), white sharks aggregate around Guadalupe, a remote volcanic island off the Pacific Baja coast. The crystal blue waters and abundance of sharks make Guadalupe one of the best places on the planet to photograph the species.
When it's shark week I celebrate. When it's not shark week I still celebrate. It makes people question my sanity and keeps them at a safe distance. I don't bite. I'm just an introvert.

HMM- the #macromondays theme for 7/19 is #sunsafety.. when I read the theme, initially, I thought it was #summersafety, so I composed this one also. The other one I have posted next in the photostream.
While I like to think every week should be a shark's week, it's that time of year when a lot of the general public turns its attention toward sharks.
This lovely, female great white shark was a newly documented visitor to Isla de Guadalupe last season, and she was kind enough to provide some photo opportunities for me, including this left-side profile shot.
Side profile image are particularly useful for identifying new individuals, as the counter-shading patterns serve as the shark's equivalent of fingerprint, and are unique to each individual.

Flattery says she's ready for Shark Week, which we always enjoy watching together at our house. She says you'll be fine as long as you don't go in the water!
