Monarch's have been scarce so far this year. This one stopped by my back yard garden a couple of days ago. He /she is just one of two I have photographed this summer.
Today in the car with the iPhone. Missed a chance to photograph this rare show of color during sunset with a real camera as I was on the road.
one my favorite things to do when a weather change happens is to grab a coffee and sit on the deck early morning and capture the show that mother nature puts on, if you are lucky enough to be up for it.

Happy birthday, Pookie! This time for reals, instead of all the presents and cake and birthday dinners we've had over the last week!
We celebrated in high style today, first by staying up until the wee hours watching the Djokovic/Murray US Open match past midnight last night, then going on epic biking/running jaunts first thing after getting up (Pookie hit her personal best bike distance, 14 miles, and Schnookie ran her personal best, 7 miles), then having a highly successful trip to the outlets for some fall wardrobe stocking-up, then having a healthy lunch of nachos and french fries, then having monster naps, then having homemade deep-dish pizza for birthday dinner, and then watching the unexpectedly dynamic Monfils/Federer match.
And for our dramatic birthday photoshoot, Pookie had the brilliant idea to stage... the first pumpkin creme of the year. Sure, we'd like to rail against pumpkin creme/harvest mix creep (it used to mean something, only being available in full-on, deep autumn, not immediately after Labor Day; you should have to earn your autumn mix, dammit!), but pumpkin creme for Pookie's birthday? What could be more perfect?
Forming one of the two coaches of the Driver Experience train standing at Dilholme Park on the 6th September 2014 is Mark I Brake Corridor Second (BSK) 34672.
Coach History
34672 was built in 1955 at Wolverton to lot 30156. The design was introduced in 1951 and one thousand five hundred vehicles were constructed. Most service train formations in the 1960’s would include at least one of these vehicles. 34672 remains as original built with B1 bogies and steam heating and was withdrawn in the mid 1980’s. Following withdrawal it was sold for preservation in 1989 and arrived at the Crewe Heritage Centre in 1989. It moved to the Foxfield Railway in June 2006.
