A picture to roughly assess how much magnification I can get with my current set up - the answer is about 1:2 (objects are half life size on the sensor - "true macro" is 1:1 or closer)
Sony claims that the camera can take photos in the dark. Not quite but still pretty cool. I could hand-hold these long exposures. The CCD sensor is amazing.
K-State researchers aim to develop sensors using atomically thin carbon sheets in which the actual events happen at the nanoscale. Pictured, a carrier for a graphene printed sensor array, and a green circuit board that will house sensors.
I've been back at sensor cleaning on my Nikon D2x. I've been doing my own sensor cleaning since I bought this camera several years ago, but it never has become a pleasant job. My latest problem involves some sort of nasty smear right on the sensor that I can't get rid of. Brand name of these over-priced brushes has been blurred so that it doesn't come off as an endorsement.
The introduction of Balluff’s IP67 intelligent power supplies with Heartbeat™ technology allows these maintenance crews to get reliable feedback on the real time and long term status of the supply and be able to predict the replacement and maintenance cycle of the supply.
