Non-contact eddy current sensors measure distances, displacements, or positions of any electrically-conductive target in harsh industrial environments (pressure, dust, temperature, oil). A special callibration to the targets improves the accuracy extremly.

Here is the 1/4" hole drilled into the back of the hub. I used a 1/4 " drill bit and just wobbled it back and forth a little to make it just bigger than the 1/4" magnet so it would be a tight fit.
This is what my sensor looks like after best buy cleaned it. does it look clean to you? not only did they do a crapy job i also was out of a camera for 2 weeks. eventhough i have the preminum plan i think i will clean it myself from now on.
