Our family had to have some sort of vacation holiday and chose an area of the country that was less densely populated and with lower COVID-19 rates. It also happened to include North Dakota, a state none of us had been to and marks state #49 for Tamara. We had a wonderful trip, got labeled as "Covid-sensitive" at a restaurant (which we now bear as a badge of honor), and got to see and explore a lot of places that in a 'normal' year we probably would have missed out on.
Sensitive Partridge Pea, Chamaecrista nictitans, is a legume that has leaflets sensitive to touch. Touch them and they fold. This specimen was in a remnant prairie in southern Ohio.

This is a fun plant to find, always fun to watch how fast the leaflets close up when you touch them.
Seating arrangements - The tax team works with partner sensitive data,
requiring special seating arrangements in an area with limited access. The
team is spread over several areas, many of the work spaces are located
along a long hallway, not as conducive to team work and to building
relationships. Each work space needs work surface to handle large
documents, storage space for work in process, a white board. The team
responds to partner calls requiring a level of quiet and privacy. The
managing director's office space needs to include personal desk space and
enough space and furniture to hold small meetings (round table and
chairs).
Tax return storage space - The tax team needs storage space for tax
returns and other tax records. Thousands of tax returns are prepared,
processed and filed yearly by the tax team. Most of these tax filings are
made in paper form. While copies of tax returns and workpapers are stored
electronically, some of these paper records will be retained off-site and
some will stay on-site for a period of time. A central records storage
space is desirable. The current in-house storage space is split into
several spaces and its current functionality is not optimal.
Processing area - Tax mailings to partners are also made throughout the
year. An area designated for processing returns and mailing documents is
also needed. The seating arrangements for the people that work on these
projects needs to be located near the area designated for processing. The
current set up for these processes is not functional. Many times, tax
records are spread over the work areas and hallways in order to handle the
volume of paper that needs to be processed. The people that work on the
processing assist the managing director and their work areas need to be
situated near the managing director's office space.
Conference room - The tax team is a heavy user of a conference room
facility located within the tax department space. Telephone, white board
and projector are used in many of these meetings. While we do not often
meet as a group, we have meetings by group - i.e., a managers meeting will
require eleven seats. Most of the time the room is used for meetings by
partnership tax department personnel. Often the meetings include tax
specialists from other PwC offices that are in town to work with us and
support our tax filings. We need a larger conference room space. Also,
space is needed to accommodate outside/government auditors that can't sit
within the tax department space.
Team areas - As part of the work areas it is desirable to have round table
settings that allow for smaller team meetings and discussions. Also, we
could use an area where two or three people could work side-by-side.
"Eu me sinto às vezes tão frágil, queria me debruçar em alguém, em alguma coisa. Alguma segurança. Invento historinhas para mim mesmo, o tempo todo, me conformo, me dou força. Mas a sensação de estar sozinho não me larga. Algumas paranóias, mas nada de grave. O que incomoda é esta fragilidade, essa aceitação, esse contentar-se com quase nada. Estou todo sensível, as coisas me comovem."
