which the West calls “cabin fever.” True, it parades under different names, according to circumstances and caste. You may be afflicted in a palace and call it ennui, and it may drive you to commit peccadillos and indiscretions of various sorts…
Be sure that it will make you abnormally sensitive to little things; irritable where once you were amiable; glum where once you went whistling about your work and your play… It will betray your little, hidden weaknesses, cut and polish your undiscovered virtues, reveal you in all your glory or your vileness to your companions in exile — if so be you have any.

Tofu is truly a sensitive soul. There are a lot of things he is afraid of, like the vet, the vacuum cleaner, the garbage truck, the doorbell, the neighbour's dogs, people he doesn't know, etc. Whenever something worries him he hides either behind me or behind Cleo and if that isn't possibe he disappears behind the sofa. On the other hand he is a very kind, sweet, charming and peaceful cat. He is the only cat I have ever had who can sit under a birdfeeder for hours while birds come and go and no bird will get harmed because he just wants to watch them.

Tipping the scales at no more than 12 pounds, this humanlike toy of complex character has enough personality for 10 ordinary dogs. A sensitive companion for discerning grownups, the Brussels Griffon is smart, devoted, and comically self-important.
When I asked her to describe herself, she said " ... gregarious, sensitive, hopeful ..."
Available light was from the kitchen windows. Attempting to get deeper richer tones, I shrank the aperture too much, with ISO 6400 a by-product, and, of course, a lots of noise! I have not tried to clean that up in these images. Instead, I resorted to sepia in two of the shots, resulting in the noise being slightly less obvious.
I find it quite challenging to attend to all the technical necessities while chatting with the subject. But, being housebound now, portrait and bird photography are two horizons for growth I can take on. Am sharing with you my maiden efforts, with all their imperfections. Elizabeth is beautiful and I hope to invite her to sit for me again after I have a little more experience with portrait photography.
The Plaza de España, designed by Aníbal González, was a principal building built on the Maria Luisa Park's edge to showcase Spain's industry and technology exhibits. González combined a mix of 1920s Art Deco and Spanish Renaissance Revival, Spanish Baroque Revival and Neo-Mudéjar styles. The Plaza de España complex is a huge half-circle; the buildings are accessible by four bridges over the moat, which represent the ancient kingdoms of Spain. In the centre is the Vicente Traver fountain.
Many tiled alcoves were built around the plaza, each representing a different province of Spain. The Plaza's tiled Alcoves of the Provinces are frequent backdrops for visitors' portrait photographs, taken in their own home province. Each alcove is flanked by a pair of covered bookshelves, now used by visitors in the manner of a "Little Free Library". Each bookshelf often contains works with information about their province. Visitors have also donated favorite novels and other books for others to read.
Today the buildings of the Plaza de España have been renovated and adapted for use as offices for government agencies. The central government departments, with sensitive adaptive redesign, are located within it. Toward the end of the park, the grandest mansions from the fair have been adapted as museums. The most distant museum contains the city's archaeology collections. The main exhibits are Roman mosaics and artefacts from nearby Italica.
The Plaza de España has been used as a filming location, including scenes for Lawrence of Arabia (1962). The building was used as a location in the Star Wars movie series Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) — in which it featured in exterior shots of the City of Theed on the Planet Naboo. It also featured in the 2012 film The Dictator. The 2023 Netflix series, Kaos, also featured scenes filmed at the Plaza.

Another shot of this really very photogenic location. I disliked this shot at first - it's got a lot wrong with it technically. The sky is blown out, it has vignetting at the edges.
But, as I was thinking about the composition overall, and the imperfections - I realized that I couldn't stop looking at this image. I love the straight on portrait mode with these old houses. It formalizes their witness to time and the elements. It shows off their scars, and it gives them a certain proudness. This house has seen things, and you can't help but to see that immediately in this image. It reminds me of Harry Truman in a way. Not the president. The old codgeter that wouldn't leave his house on the flanks of Mt. St. Helens. He's under a lot of that mountain now, but he was proud and unwilling to give up his lived experiences in that place. This house seems to be stating something similar. 'I took care of mine. I did that right here. I am proud I did my job, and content in my fate.'
