Botanical name: Smithia sensitiva Family: Fabaceae (Pea family)

Sensitive Smithia is a low-gowing annual herb, 30-90 cm, common along the roads. It appears at waning of the monsoons. Compound leaves are slightly sensitive to touch. There are 3-10 pairs of oblong leaflets, each 6-12 mm long. Yellow pea-like flowers occur in racemes of 2-6, arising from leaf axils. Flowers are 1.3 cm long. Pods are flat, 1 cm long. Flowers are eaten by the red black spotted blister beetles. Leaves and pods are cooked and eaten. Flowering: August-October.
Medicinal uses: The herb is boiled and given for gravel and difficulty in micturition. Leaves are refigerant, stimulate flow of milk in mothers. Leaves juice is used as lotion in headaches.
While out running a few errands this afternoon, I noticed the ADM critter at Racine Ave was pulled out close to the road, and stopped for a few quick shots. I wasn't here more than five minutes when I had a visit from a UP Special Agent, who said someone had called me in for taking train pictures. He couldn't have been nicer about it, and just took my ID and wrote down a few things in his notebook, never asked me to stop or to leave. Still, this paranoia is getting ridiculous...

Is razor for sensitive skin better?
It's tempting, we know, to shave against the direction of hair growth. It seems to give you a closer shave. But really it's not worth the razor burn! Shaving against the grain will aggravate your sensitive skin even more and it can distort the hair follicles causing ingrown hairs to form.

He's a little sensitive. He hid behind the shampoo when I asked him why he was wrapped in toilet paper. He's a little sensitive so I didn't question him further.
Onoclea sensibilis - The bright, yellow-green leaves are arranged on each side of a common stem. The leaves die quickly when first touched by frost - hence the name Sensitive fern. This fern is growing under a pine tree in Carmel,NY.
