Seneca Lake is the largest of the Finger Lakes in New York State. At 38 miles (60 km) long, it is the second longest of the Finger Lakes and has the largest volume, estimated at 4.2 trillion US gallons (16 km³), roughly half of the water in all the Finger Lakes. It has a maximum depth of 618 feet (188 m), and a mean depth of 291 feet (89 m). It has a surface area of 42,800 acres (171 km²).

It was a perfectly calm night when I came accrues the footings remains of the old bridge over the Seneca river, in Montezuma. Taken on my cycling weekend in the Finger Lakes area.

Two cool things about this quaint town:
1) The birth of the Women's Rights movement. You can see the area where in the bottom left hand corner where Elizabeth Cady Stanton led the first meetings to push for a woman's right to vote.
2) If you've ever seen the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" you've seen a romanticized version of this town. Indeed, "Bedford Falls" has many of the same charms as Seneca Falls and Frank Capra spent some time in upstate New York before he began filming his now famous work. Happy Friday!
Seneca Rocks is a large crag and local landmark in Pendleton County in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, USA. It is the only "true peak" (a peak inaccessible except by technical rock climbing techniques) on the East Coast of the United States. One of the best-known scenic attractions in West Virginia, the sheer rock faces are a popular challenge for rock climbers.Seneca Rocks is easily visible and accessible along West Virginia Route 28 near U.S. Route 33 in the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area of the Monongahela National Forest.

Seneca Rocks and nearby Champe Rocks are the most imposing examples in eastern West Virginia of several formations of the white/gray Tuscarora quartzite. The quartzite is approximately 250 feet thick here, located primarily on exposed ridges as caprock or exposed crags. The rock is composed of fine grains of sand that were laid down in the Silurian Period approximately 440 million years ago, in an extensive sand shoal at the edge of the ancient Iapetus Ocean. Eons of geologic activity followed, as the ocean slowly closed and the underlying rock uplifted and folded. Millions of years of erosion stripped away the overlying rock and left remnants of the arching folds in outcrops such as Seneca Rocks.

I'm excited about this upcoming weekend as I think the colors in the Highlands of WV are going to be coming out in force. This is a shot taken a couple of weekends ago when the autumn weeds were in full bloom.

Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes NY
The Seneca School House was built as a community school in 1865; it was taken over by theMontgomery County, Maryland school system in 1876 and operated until 1910. It was built of locally quarried Seneca red sandstone, the same stone used to build the Smithsonian Institution (the Castle) on the National Mall.
Towering 900 feet above the valley floor is the Seneca Rocks section of the Allegheny Mountains in the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia
I figured the "rooms for rent" sign just meant this place was split up into apartments, but Google lists it as the Franklin Motel. The reviews are not good.
Snow showers and clouds encompassed Seneca Rocks, West Virginia during our visit there couple weeks ago. Here the clouds were really moving fast. Just this 10 second exposure they moved a lot there over the peaks.

A loaded coal train rolls east on the Altavista District on a muggy August afternoon. This Virginian Railway-built line still boasts N&W CTC east of Altavista, but replacements are on the way.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton, one of the women's rights movement's most important figures, asserted that her experiences in this Seneca Falls house induced her to become an advocate of women's rights.
In 1847, the Stantons moved to Seneca Falls. Charged with putting their new home in order, Elizabeth found herself engulfed by the requirements of three small children and a large house. She soon became aware of the inequality of expectations that existed between men and women in 19th century America, writing, "I now fully understood the practical difficulties most women had to contend with . . . and the impossibility of woman's best development if in contact, the chief part of her life, with servants and children." Such realizations resulted in Cady Stanton's part in writing the Declaration of Sentiments and in organizing the Women's Rights Convention of 1848.
In 1869, Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony formed the National Women's Suffrage Association, and for the next 20 years, they spoke to and inspired suffrage societies all over America. In 1890, Cady Stanton was elected president of the new National American Woman Suffrage Association. Elizabeth Cady Stanton died in 1902. Now a part of the Women's Rights National Historic Park, her home documents her amazing life.

One of 4 random shots of our short visit to London, UK. My daughter Tricia invited me to accompany her on a whirlwind trip.
We were there just before the official celebration of the Queen's 90th birthday. We went on the London Eye, which really gives you a wonderful viewpoint of London.

Hi ha ocasions que no es poden deixar perdre, ja que si no un s’arrepenteix. Ahir, desprès de que a la feina em donessin festa, vaig anar a Figueres per trobar-me amb en Jordi i anar a veure si teníem sort amb les proves a la LAV, i tot i les llargues esperes, vamos si en vam tenir. Tant bon punt vam arribar va passar per davant dels nostres nassos un dels objectius, el Séneca, però no el vam donar per perdut, tot i que van passar moltes hores. Abans d’ell però tocaria enxampar al Teco UIC, que anava força carregat i a un dels enllaços internacionals entre Vilafant i Sants. Ja entrada la tarda vam canviar de posició, per a veure si ens tornava a passar de nou cap a Figueres, tal i com es veu a la foto, amb la sorpresa de veure després des de Figueres Vilafant a la BT 02 camí del nord. Des d’aquí enviar una cordial salutació al Jordi i agrair-li que hagi fet de guia!

Ayer, después de que en el trabajo me diesen fiesta, me fui a Figueres para encontrarme con Jordi e ir a ver si teníamos suerte con las pruebas en la LAV, i aún con las largas esperas, vamos si tuvimos. Tan pronto llegamos nos pasó por delante de nuestras narices uno de los objetivos, el Séneca, pero no lo dimos por perdido, aunque pasaron muchas horas. Antes de él pero tocaría pillar al Teco UIC, que iba bastante lleno y a uno de los enlaces internacionales entre Vilafant y Sants. Ya entrada la tarde volvimos a cambiar de posición, para ver si nos volvía a pasar de nuevo hacia Figueres, tal y como se puede ver en la foto, con la sorpresa de ver después desde Figueres Vilafant a la BT 02 camino del norte. Desde aquí enviar un cordial saludo a Jordi y agradecerle que haya hecho de guía!
There are occasions that you can not let loose, because if no one repents. Yesterday, after the holiday to give me on the work, I went to meet Jordi in Figueres and go see if we were lucky with the tests in the LAV, i still long waits, if we had. As soon as we arrived we walked past our noses one objective, the Seneca, but gave it up for lost, but spent many hours. Il ya des occasions que vous ne pouvez pas lâchés, parce que si personne ne se repent. Dès que nous sommes arrivés nous sommes passés devant nos yeux un objectif, le Seneca, mais il a renoncé en cas de perte, mais il a passé de nombreuses heures. Avant, il toucher attraper mais l'UIC Teco, qui avait beaucoup de monde et l'un des liens internationaux entre Vilafant et Sants. Fin d'après midi nous sommes retournés à changer de position, pour voir si nous sommes retournés à Figueres passer en arrière comme vous pouvez le voir sur la photo, avec la surprise de voir de Figueres Vilafant les choses BT 02 pour le Nord. De ici pour envoyer un salut cordial à Jordi et le guide grâce que vous avez fait!
