Dewey learned early on that he loves to use the self check-out machine. He's a very smart dragon and a strong reader so he goes through books pretty quickly. He also likes the beeping noise it makes :-)
This is Walmart Supercenter # 4350 at 200 Old Fairgrounds Way in Kilmarnock, VA.
Despite opening in 2007, this store feels a smaller than a traditional Supercenter, and lacks a Tire Center. This is the only Walmart store in Virginia's Northern Neck.
Ever noticed a window flicker in the background when using the self-checkout machines at Woolworths? This one wasn't working at all so a staff member restarted it for me - turns out that the machines still run Windows XP Embedded. *cringe*
The Friendswood Public Library now has a self check-out machine located by the circulation desk. Patrons with simple check-out needs can now check out their own materials rather than waiting in line at the circulation desk!
My husband using the self check out at the grocery store. Both of us hate these "do it yourself" check out places - things almost always go wrong when we use them. However, after 9pm, they are the only ones open at City Market.
We tried to get our weekly shopping done when we had our grandsons yesterday but it was impossible. So, we had to go back to town today to finish the shopping.
Luckily, we were only getting ice cream last thing before going home so it wouldn't melt and nothing went wrong!

This is the other Walmart Supercenter at 6111 Jefferson Ave in Newport News, VA.
This store opened in 2013, and is seeing it's first renovation! Some of the photos from this set show the store with no logo, likely to prepare for the store to be painted and get the updated front logo.
An LSTA grant helped to purchase 4 self-checkout machines, with the winning bid going to Centec of Indiana.

The Collection contains materials in more than 200 languages and dialects on subjects in the social sciences and the humanities, including history, religion, literature, politics and government.

Another way to purchase tickets at the theaters is through one of the self-service kiosks. These kiosks are usually located only at the chain theaters like AMC. This is a convenient option for those who want to purchase with their debit or credit cards. There may be lines here, but not as long as waiting to pay a worker of the theater.
