God says, "Be still and know that I am God"

164. Every individual-personal mania is a usurper, and every mania represents the terroristic feature of the usurped power.

122. Contemporary man - and the man of any age altogether - is nothing other than an identification.

142. The one who is not able to live his life as a constant ascension, which attains its perfection in the period right before death, but from a certain age starts to descend, in reality abuses his life.

143. He who does not strive upwards, descends.

144. He who lets himself be taken by the current, is certain to follow the wrong path.

151. Most people are infantile until about the midpoint of their lives, that is until the age of thirty-six, and immediately after that from one day to another grow senile.

220. The more a creature is a creature, the frailer he is, the more he is subject to attacks, the more he is subject to circumstances, the more he lives in the realm of attractions and repulsions.

224. Man should not ensure reservations of darkness in his life.

162. In the final analysis, man is not subjected to external factors but to his inner psychological states.

163. That which manifests itself as democracy in the world, appears as automatism, whirling associations, distractions and lack of (self)control in consciousness.

164. Every individual-personal mania is a usurper, and every mania represents the terroristic feature of the usurped power.

165. The really negative thing in someone’s raving is not that he is raving, but that in fact it is not him who is raving but something/someone within him.

166. Not only he commits a crime who by losing his self-control commits something, but also he who following from his lack of self-control does nothing.

137. The case when someone ignores essentiality involves not only that the most important thing starts missing but that there can be found something else in its place.

138. Sticking to the only-human leads not to remaining in the human sphere but to becoming sub-human. For persisting in something is to loose it: to loose that which was intended to be retained.

140. If superhuman principles does not stand behind man’s intention of changing himself then he will not remain in the human state but descend to a subhuman condition.

105. The fundamental alienation, the fundamental decline is the personality itself: when I myself am alienated from myself.

305. Antitraditionality is nothing other than the creating of confusion in the relationship between the existent world and the centre of the existent world so as to make it impossible to find the way back to the centre.

653. Emotion is feeling become sick.

[scil. feeling is originally not a displaced state, because man is not the object of feeling, like that of emotion, but he is its subject.]

654. Each emotional state is a kind of obsession.

696. When man turns more and more to the quantitative world rather than himself, then he practically turns to nothing. By losing spirit man kept his soul, which still had some spiritual properties. After this he kept only the body, which still has some pneumatic properties; and slowly he will come to the nothing, which will only have some somatic properties.

707. Death inevitably pertains to life as its complement. Man experiences death to the degree he indulges himself in life, because life contains death.

708. When life is lacking what is beyond life then death, the complement of life, overcomes life.

717. If my identification tends toward the engendered world, I will pass away with the engendered world.

739. An extraneous force dominates all that has a beginning.

740. The loss of beginning is the loss of dominion, the loss of dominion is the loss of the consciousness of beginning and that of origin, i.e. the loss of my ultimate reality as a consciousness.

751. Originally, it was volition that is now instinct in man.

18. The less man has views and the more he has personal interests, the more he is inclined to regard his interests as views.

118. In the highest degree and as a first step man creates his incarnation; then - descending lower - he chooses it; descending even lower he freely accepts it; descending even lower than this he involuntarily takes notice of it: maybe he would like to but cannot avoid it; descending even lower than before he meets it; and finally he unconsciously falls into his incarnation - into that which originally was freely created by him.

In this crazy life, self control is hard to maintain..

so I thought I'd put a look too it.

Toys Olympics weightlifting champ!!

It was decided to add an extra difficulty to this competition by using cookies for weights. The Champ must be able to lift the weight and show concentration and self control by not eating the cookies instead of lifting them.

Magnum was the only one to do it!! Great going Magnum!! A true champion!

3 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:

2 a time to be born, and a time to die;

a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;

3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;

a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;

a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;

a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;

a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 a time to love, and a time to hate;

a time for war, and a time for peace.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001), Ec 3:1–8.

7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,

“Today, if you hear his voice,

8 do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,

on the day of testing in the wilderness,

9 where your fathers put me to the test

and saw my works for cforty years.

10 Therefore I was provoked with that generation,

and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart;

they have not known my ways.’

11 As I swore in my wrath,

‘They shall not enter my rest.’ ”

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001), Heb 3:7–11.

Christ was God’s Son who reigned over the household of God’s people. He was superior to Moses, who was merely a servant within God’s household. Jesus’ superiority to Moses made it a more serious matter to reject Jesus than to reject Moses. Our writer referred to the experience of Israel in Numbers 14:1–35 as an illustration of the seriousness of unbelief.

It was a hot day in Fort Kochi and sweat on painted faces does run rather fast and the worst thing is you can not wipe or soak the sweat for the fear of washing away the whole paint work. I must say these guys have tremendous self control and must have a altogether high level of non itchiness.

You know you didn't lose your self-control. Let's start at the rainbow I Really Want To Stay At Your House by Hallie Coggins and Rosa Walton

Ashokan Reservoir

"The practice of patience guards us against losing our presence of mind. It enables us to remain undisturbed, even when the situation is really difficult. It gives us a certain amount of inner peace, which allows us some self-control, so that we can choose to respond to situations in an appropriate and compassionate manner, rather than being driven by our disturbing emotions." -Dalai Lama

1 Guard your steps when you go to othe house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil. 2 Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001), Ec 5:1–3.

Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)

17 The LORD your God is in your midst,

a mighty one who will save;

he will rejoice over you with gladness;

he will quiet you by his love;

he will exult over you with loud singing.

"As Plato said, every soul is deprived of truth against its will. The same holds true for justice, self-control, goodwill to others, and every similar virtue. It's essential to constantly keep this in your mind, for it will make you more gentle to all." - Marcus Aurelius

Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control. Its presence is an indication of ripened experience, and of a more than ordinary knowledge of the laws and operations of thought.

The sword is one of most imaginary weapons from our history and it stands for power, resistance, self-control, romanticism and mysticism. Handle the sword like a real knight can only be done by a few people. Samantha and BieJee control these medieval fighting art in their fantasy and it seems...in reality too ; -)

Isaiah 40:28–31 (ESV)

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The LORD is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He does not faint or grow weary;

his understanding is unsearchable.

29 He gives power to the faint,

and to him who has no might he increases strength.

30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,

and young men shall fall exhausted;

31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not be weary;

they shall walk and not faint.

12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called nin one body. And obe thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And swhatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001), Col 3:12–17.

Yes I know I said I wouldn't be posting another pic this week, however I thought indulge myself one more time 😀 I got a lecture last week from my mother that i spend far too much money and have far too many female things for the time I actually spend in my feminine guise. Anyway having been told this I pretty much immediately ordered this dress which I'd had my eye on for a little while (that'll teach her). I also bought the little jacket I'm wearing here too at the same time. Showing my usual lack of self control I then obviously had to wear them when I went out last night. It was also the first time I'd worn my little blue booties out and about as well, a decision I thought I'd regret after walking about 100 yards. However my feet held up reasonably well in them and were only mildly aching by the end of the night. As is I couldn't actually decide which of the pics I took to actually post, so as it's a bank holiday weekend sod it and here's three at once. The first pic is pre-going out, the others from when I got home. Have a great weekend everyone 💋

Ah I am so delighted summer is almost here! Things are slowing down for me a bit before I start traveling again. As always I have missed you all when I can't find my way to Flickr, but so glad to be here today! These captures were taken in Cabo San Lucas in January. If you happen to recognize this gal, yes, long shot I know, but please let me know, because I have at least 25 shots that I would love to give her. I was just behind the scenes while her photographer was clicking away. I was so delighted to happen upon this fun moment! Hope you enjoy :)

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

“So it's not gonna be easy.It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you.I want all of you, forever, everyday.You and me everyday.” Sparks

"Marriage" by Chuck Swindoll...."It's rough. It's tough. It's work. Anybody who says it isn't. Has never been married. Marriage has far bigger problems Than toothpaste squeezed From the middle of the tube.Marriage means Grappling, aching, struggling It means putting up With personality weaknesses Accepting criticism And giving each other freedom to fail It means sharing deep feelings About fear and rejection It means turning self-pity into laughter And taking a walk to gain self-control. Marriage means Gentleness and joy Toughness and fortitude Fairness and forgiveness And a great amount of sacrifice Marriage means Learning when to say nothing When to keep talking When to push a little When to back off It means acknowledging I can't be God to you I need Him, too.Marriage means...You are the other part of me I am the other part of you We'll work through With never a thought of walking out Marriage means Two imperfect mates Giving totally In partnership with a perfect God Marriage, my love, means us.

"Love—the Greatest of All"

I may be able to speak the languages of men and even of angels, but if I do not have love, it will sound like noisy brass. 2 If I have the gift of speaking God’s Word and if I understand all secrets, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I know all things and if I have the gift of faith so I can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give everything I have to feed poor people and if I give my body to be burned, but do not have love, it will not help me. 4 Love does not give up. Love is kind. Love is not jealous. Love does not put itself up as being important. Love has no pride. 5 Love does not do the wrong thing. Love never thinks of itself. Love does not get angry. Love does not remember the suffering that comes from being hurt by someone. 6 Love is not happy with sin. Love is happy with the truth. 7 Love takes everything that comes without giving up. Love believes all things. Love hopes for all things. Love keeps on in all things.8 Love never comes to an end. The gift of speaking God’s Word will come to an end. The gift of speaking in special sounds will be stopped. The gift of understanding will come to an end. 9 For we only know a part now, and we speak only a part. 10 When everything is perfect, then we will not need these gifts that are not perfect.11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child. I thought like a child. I understood like a child. Now I am a man. I do not act like a child anymore. 12 Now that which we see is as if we were looking in a broken mirror. But then we will see everything. Now I know only a part. But then I will know everything in a perfect way. That is how God knows me right now. 13 And now we have these three: faith and hope and love, but the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13

May God's extravagant love touch your life today! Blessings, to you all! :)

If we think we are not all that bad, the idea of grace will never change us - Tim Keller

23 for fall have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 gand are justified hby his grace as a gift, ithrough the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God jput forward as ka propitiation lby his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in mhis divine forbearance he had passed over nformer sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

27 oThen what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 For we hold that one is justified by faith papart from works of the law. 29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since God is one—who will justify the circumcised by faith and sthe uncircumcised through faith. 31 Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.

12 “For you shall go out in joy

and be led forth in peace;

the mountains and the hills before you

shall break forth into singing,

and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress;

instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle;

and it shall make a name for the LORD,

an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001), Is 55:12–13.

17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001), 1 Jn 2:17.

What does the LORD Require?

6 “With what shall I come before the LORD,

and bow myself before God on high?

Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,

with calves a year old?

7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams,

with ten thousands of rivers of oil?

Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,

the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”

8 He has told you, O man, what is good;

and what does the LORD require of you

but to do justice, and to love kindness,

and to walk humbly with your God?

The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton: Standard Bible Society, 2001), Mic 6:6–8.

15 years ago I weighed 205 lbs, i'm 5'9" and said that was enough. I got down to 150 and have been fairly successful at keeping those lbs at bay except for yearly fluctuations. (Self control? What's that lol?) So it's back on the weight loss trail again. I DON'T diet, just portion control. Also, it gets harder to subdue those lbs when you get older, or, approaching ancient, as is my situation. Weight is a tricky situation fo all of us, and if you are waging the battle, you have a friend who knows what you are going through.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. For more than a billion Muslims around the world, Ramadan is a "month of blessing" marked by prayer, fasting, and charity. Muslims believe that during the month of Ramadan, Allah revealed the first verses of the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam. Muslims practice sawm, or fasting, for the entire month of Ramadan. This means that they may eat or drink nothing, including water, while the sun shines. Fasting is one of the Five Pillars (duties) of Islam. As with other Islamic duties, all able Muslims take part in sawm from about age twelve. Fasting serves many purposes. While they are hungry and thirsty, Muslims are reminded of the suffering of the poor. Fasting is also an opportunity to practice self-control and to cleanse the body and mind. And in this most sacred month, fasting helps Muslims feel the peace that comes from spiritual devotion as well as kinship with fellow believers.

"To Me" is a truly personal project developed towards the end of 2016 and stills in evolution. It wants to show my personality and feelings about photography mixed with the sculpture looking for a psychological link between the image and the aesthetic thought conceived.

Full project: www.behance.net/gallery/56192309/To-Me-Intimate-Project

Zenit 11 + Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 + Kodak Gold VR Plus 400.

That's how I felt when I saw this...

I had read the settings on the Zenit all wrong. Having carefully light metered and then done nothing about it, except ineffectually move the front about a bit. I didn't realise that I'd been so rubbish until clarifying things with knautia at the end of the film. (Twas she who kindly loaned me the gorgeous old Russian monster in the first place.)

I was convinced the whole film was a write off and particularly irked that the stained glass windows in this beautiful little church might not have come out. In the end they did, and pretty conventionally compared to this one which is my absolute favourite from the whole day there....

Film is very forgiving - the lesson I am learning... and loving... :)

[Should I crop the left to center this a bit more do you think? Keeping my hands from any post-processing of my film shots except leveling of horizons (which doesn't count here...) seems to be taking a lot of self control......] I did!! :)

The Parable of the Lost Coin

8 “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ 10 Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
