A very surprising early morning visit to the backyard garden.
What is the meaning of seeing a cardinal?
They say the vibrant red bird is an uplifting, happy sign that those we have lost will live forever, so long as we keep their memory alive in our hearts. As cardinals sing their pleasant song, people may recall cherished memories of better times.

This morning I got my idea for this weeks theme. This zipper is a part of my handbag, in fact my favourite one. What would a woman be without her handbag? I don't even want to think about that...
Thank you for taking time to view, fave and comment. Have a nice weekend!

The sun soon to fall behind the distant Isle of Arran.
Today was the funeral and burial of my mum. For reasons beyond my control I was not able to attend. I am heartbroken.
Mum only managed to visit me once after I moved to Scotland as she was not a very good traveller. She would never fly and was afraid of long train journeys. That one time though, we took both of my parents by ferry to the Isle of Arran, here, and returned to Troon to eat some of the best fish and chips in Scotland. The fish jumped out of the harbour and into the fryer to order and we sat on a bench around the corner and watched the sun set with our supper.
Both of my mum and dad remembered those fish and chips very fondly, they must have been nice!
In any case... I'll be finding a tidal pool like this one tonight to watch the sun and it's reflections fall beyond the Isle of Arran once again. I will be remembering and thinking of my family.
Be safe my Flickr friends.

Bridge and moss over small stream at end of walk. Love how green the moss looks even on a cloudy, rainy day.
Many thanks for looking and for your funny comments!

Wishing you a pleasant week ahead ! : )
Wanted to see if I could get some action with camera and lens. To show card movement, that is. Need a card shark and a whole lot more practice to show movement at this table. And to set up a better light or two.
Just for fun.
For "Looking Close...on Friday!"'s #flora selective focus theme
The title reflects the changing weather conditions here in the south of the UK; autumn is definitely here now... But also, the toning of the image. My only criticism of cosmos is that they pretty much only come in shades of pink. (Although I think there are a couple of purples, and maybe even a chocolate?) It's generally a lovely shade of pink. But I had it in my head that I wanted this image to be blue. Well, in the end I couldn't bring myself to go totally blue, so compromised with blue toning.
Selectively focused to create a relatively narrow field of focus from left to right across the centre of the flower. Well, that was the intention at the time...

Poor "Rusty" he is still soaking wet. No wonder he has found a spot high up on the fence post.

Daylily ... Mother Nature provided an extra punch of natural sunlight ... Selective focus and the addition of a small white matte frame.
The weather is bad, so I'm still waiting for real Spring to arrive. However, my sneakers are ready to walk kilometers with me...and discover the beauty of waking up nature.
(Only the shoe laces are bright, the shoes have a soft colour)
A metaphor for our times, perhaps, when the world seems upside down. I just received an email from Bruce Percy, who wrote of inverting his photos (a lot better than this ;-) And hoping to sell his work. (www.brucepercy.com link off Flickr.) He calls it reinterpreting the image. I call it fooling around on an overcast morning.
This is a new crocus bloom from yesterday morning, taken using a translucent umbrella and tripod. I used an invert tool in Photoshop and then added a slight yellow hue. Just an experiment. No need to comment. I'm just a basic user of Photoshop. No knowledge about all of those little tools and layers. Looks a bit similar to a negative.
