Many thanks as always for your views, and welcome comments.

I am trying a variation on the blur technique. I am making the Copy blank and the with a layer mask in Elements I am adding colour back to certain areas. So I guess in essence it is Multiple selective colouring.

Have a great day and weekend you wonderful folks out there ;0)

As the sun was catching the tips of the leaves on the ground, I decided to post process a selective coloured image of this woodland scene, to enhance them.

"Looking close... on Friday!" theme: Eyes (selective colour)

My photogenic tabby cat, Kiwi, is my model for today. She has not been well lately but at 15 years old she still thinks she is a kitten and it was tricky to get her to look still for this photo.

Thanks very much for your visit. HLCoF!

Out of the yard and into the living room… No worries nature lovers! I love my backyard beauties and will always continue to take and share images of them.

With this image and a few earlier posts, I am just inviting you in for a glimpse inside my humble abode. As well as expanding my personal knowledge while I play with settings etc. on the camera.

I want to give a shout out to the group “Smile on Saturday” for getting me out of my comfort zone when it comes to taking photos. The group is a themed group and it has been challenging for me to follow along with the theme since I joined three weeks ago.

I have wanted to try taking selective color images for a long time and just never took the time to figure out how to do it. I sure can use some more practice with this technique but I’m happy with this image since it’s my first of its kind.

I hope you smile a lot today and every day. Happy snapping.

Selective colour for 'Smile on Saturday'

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 7th of July is "eyes (selective colour)". The theme for the group for the 16th of June was "spices and condiments", and I used some star anise and cinnamon sticks that I had photographed after a friend gave them to me to use. Whilst I do use both these spices in cooking, I was actually struck by the wonderful shape of the star anise that she gave me, so I decided to photograph them before putting them away. When I saw one star anise in particular in the box, I immediately thought how like a large beauty patch it looked. I had to ruminate this idea for a while. I took a few rather uninspiring images using a star anise as a beauty patch on my own face, and then I thought of a Pierrot with a tear on his cheek, and I thought I might be able to do the same using my illusive model, who has featured in some of my photos before. When I was processing the photo, I decided to make it selective colour, highlighting my model’s eye and the star anise, never imagining that I would be able to use it for a photography theme in the future. I know this is perhaps a more unusual take on this week’s theme, but I do hope you like it, and that it makes you smile.

For Smile on Saturday - Selective Colour

I was going to post this on Saturday for the Smile on Saturday theme of Gemstones. Noticed a lot of selective colour pink in people’s photostreams that led me to the looking close on Friday challenge of selective colour pink. Big coincidence and a chance for a twofer (or three as this could go in MacroMondays numeral theme).

This is as close in as I can get I think, had some new extension tubes delivered in the week for a little extra boost! I put a small torch behind the watch part to bring out the colour of the jewels.

An egg in the hand is worth two in the bush? No... that's not quite right, is it?

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 19th of May is "hand(s)", but no arms. So, I have chosen a photograph I took about a month ago, which I was contemplating using for my Easter photo. I acquired a selection of egg decorations for Easter and I was very struck by this gilt and painted wooden egg, so I photographed it in my left hand and then made it a selective colour image which not only brough out the beautiful textures of the egg, but also my hand! Not bad for a one handed shot, even if I do say so myself! I hope you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile!
