Diplomatic Security Service and U.S. Army personnel trained together in an exercise depicting U.S. and locally engaged security personnel at a fictitious American consulate at Fort Polk, Louisiana, in April 2015. The U.S. Army regularly trains combat brigades for crisis deployment in non-war situations to support U.S. diplomacy. Taken at Animatic Con held at the Holiday Inn Eastgate in the Eastgate suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. From their site: "Animatic Con started in March of 2015 with the idea of delivering to the fandoms across the U.S. a convention that was fun, and had a higher purpose. After much consideration and discussion, we decided that we wanted to help raise funds for Autism . . ."
This guy was providing security at the event - no - for real! How many people do you think tried to sneak past him or cause any trouble? I know I didn't and wouldn't! How about you?

Security System is an unlimited network of roughly simulated cameras, motion-sensors, intercom devices, loudspeakers and control consoles. All these faux-technological devices are made out of loosely painted wood, cardboard and found materials, including cigar boxes and twigs. They gain what credibility they may have as audio/visual machines from blinking light-emitting diodes. In this they are just like the “real” fake security camera at the Galveston Art Center that inspired them. A limitless edition of sort-of art multiples, the piece expands through time and space as I make and distribute more of its various elements. It’s first ten elements, all cameras, were awarded as trophies for the Cinematexas International Competition – innocently installed in the home offices of filmmakers around the world.
The war on Ukraine is having an enormous impact on the agrifood sector, both in terms of national economies and on global food security.
Around 50 countries depend on Russia and Ukraine for one-third of their wheat supply. Many of them are the least developed or low-income, food-deficit countries in northern Africa. In the SEMED region, Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia are adversely affected, with Morocco less so. Supply disruptions have a negative impact on food access and affordability.
It is critical to restore the ability of Ukraine to export agricultural commodities. For SEMED countries, it is essential to secure food staples, improve import efficiency, diversify trade, upgrade storage infrastructure and ports, and diversify diets.
The private sector is key to ensuring a sustainable long-term approach to tackling food security and to realising the substantial investments needed in both importing and exporting countries. Policies that set the right incentives are essential to allow the private sector to respond and grow.
This event - featuring a panel of industry, food market experts and high-level representatives from the public and private sector - will release new data on the impact of the crisis in SEMED in particular and will highlight key policy and investment priorities for the region.

'Security's treasures' On Black
Just a few seconds after I took this shot, a very rude and unfriendly security guy ran out of the entrance towards me, telling me to immediately delete the pictures, that I took. Although this was a public-access area, I did not want to argue with him, because he just was annoying :)
So I deleted all my pics on the CF card, while he was watching it...having in mind, that some image recovery software will bring back the shots easily. So here it is :)

To prepare for an upcoming workshop, I'm focusing on upcycling paper for my thing-a-day projects this week. I've wanted to try to make paper beads out of security envelopes for a while. I love the different patterns on the inside of them.

Every night I put the chain on the door, knowing full well that if somebody has taken the time to get through the deadbolt, a tiny little chain isn't going to do anything to stop them.

1 sb600 camera right, very near camera, 1/2 CTO, 1/64 power, through speed grid (which has officially seen the last of its days - it is now in need of extensive repair. Good thing I only made it out of cardboard and cocktail straws).

TD Security is a fairly large company operating in multiple locations in northeast Ohio- primarily Cleveland. They have a lot of armed officers and a relaitvely large patrol area. They are not exactly known for having the most top-notch officers on staff, but like with any other large security company, some are good and some are bad. Most of their vehicles are pretty beat up.
Greater Manchester Police’s Chief Constable Peter Fahy is joined by Inspector Andrew Sutcliffe at an event to celebrate over 1000 homes across Trafford having had their security improved as part of a six-month project.
Mr. Fahy thanked those involved in securing the 1041 homes at a special meting at the Force's headquarters on 20 May.
Under the Safer Homes scheme, police community support officers identified the vulnerable properties, surveyed them and highlighted any security issues. They then offered the homeowners the chance to have security devices fitted free of charge.
During the project, Timpson’s Locksmiths fitted many different security measures such including -
949 door chains,
298 door viewers,
201 tower bolts,
71 mortise bolts,
154 door locks,
317 window locks and
34 patio bolts
Each home was also given a pack containing crime reduction and fire safety advice as well as a discount coupon for the ‘How To Avoid Becoming A Target For Crime’ guide.
Participants were asked at the end of the project if they felt safer as a result of it. 83 per cent of those asked said that they felt more secure in their homes.
The Greater Manchester High Sheriff’s Police Trust funded the project via the Home Office’s Safer Homes fund.
Chief Superintendent Mark Robert of Greater Manchester Police’s Trafford Division said: “We always encourage residents to take care of their personal property and to keep it safe and through this campaign we can make sure we are providing the support they need to do this.
“We work in close partnership with other Safer Trafford Partnership members to make sure that Trafford is one of the safest places to live in Greater Manchester. Through schemes like this we can deter criminals and keep it that way.”
