Ray Collins, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office and Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict of the United Kingdom, addresses the Security Council meeting on promoting international peace and security through multilateralism and peaceful settlement of disputes under the agenda item maintenance of international peace and security.
The Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2788 (2025) urging all member states to utilize effectively the mechanisms for pacific settlement of disputes as outlined in Article 33 of the United Nations Charter, including negotiation, enquiry, mediation, conciliation, arbitration, judicial settlement, resort to regional agencies or arrangements, or other peaceful means of their own choice, and also expresses its determination to recommend the use of these
mechanisms, as appropriate.
