DESCRIPTION: Length: 5.5-6 feet (1.7-1.8 meters) including tail
Height at the shoulder: 3-3.5 feet (0.9-1.1 meters)
Weight: 100-300 pounds (45-136 kg.)
General: Mature bighorn rams are much larger than the ewes, with larger, curling horns. Both sexes have a prominent white rump patch.
RANGE: Isolated area of the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains.
HABITAT: Isolated mountain meadows up to the treeline that provide forage, water and escape terrain.
STATUS: General: Secure.
WA State: Existence is in danger due to increasing habitat destruction and domestic animal diseases.
DIET: Consists primarily of alpine and meadow grasses in the summer and browse in the winter. Salt and mineral deposits provide essential dietary supplements.
REPRODUCTION: Breeding season extends from October through December. The gestation period is about six to six and a half months. Generally, the female gives birth to one lamb. At birth, lambs weigh about six to seven pounds each.
LIFE SPAN: About 10 years
BEHAVIOR: Bighorn are gregarious animals that stay in herds of 10-25 animals. Mature rams stay in bachelor herds except during the breeding season. Ewes, lambs and juvenile males form a separate herd. Mature males compete in butting jousts to determine dominance or social status. These bouts can occur any time but are more prevalent during the rut as the rams rejoin the ewe bands. Two rivals will face each other at a distance, rear on their hind legs, drop to all fours, converge and finally slam together head-on to produce a loud crack. Their specially adapted skulls and neck tendons and vertebre prevent serious injury.

As The Light Fell away from the Circuit The Britcar Endurance Championship made its way out onto the circuit with Lights a Blaze and a lot of Energy coming from both the Drivers and their Cars This was Going to be a Race of Endurance and Car Management thought the 45 Minutes of the Race.

Officers conducting warrants in Manchester this morning secured eleven arrests across seven addresses as part of an operation to disrupt, deter, and crack down on gang-related criminality.
The work, which forms part of a wider operation, began at 6am this morning, with officers from the local neighbourhood team and our Tactical Aid Unit entering each premises, securing arrests, and conducting thorough searches of the properties situated in Gorton and Openshaw.
During the work, a quantity of class A and B drugs, weapons including knives, and other suspicious items were seized for further investigation.
Nine males and two women, aged between 16 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of a range of offences including possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and assault.
They remain in custody for questioning and work is currently ongoing.
The renewed work targeting urban street gangs in the Manchester area comes on the back of violent incidents in recent months, including the shooting of a teenager in October.
The morning activity was designed to disrupt criminality, prevent further incidents, and tackle gangs and the range of issues that can arise from their activity. This includes anti-social behaviour, drug use, and the criminal exploitation of younger people in the community.
Local councillors were in attendance to see the work, which sees officers liaise with council and local officials alike.
Further activity and proactive action is planned as part of the operation, which will see more criminality targeted, more arrests, charges, and work with local partners to reduce and prevent all manner of crimes.
Inspector Dan Pickavance, from GMP’s North Manchester neighbourhood team, said: “We simply will not tolerate incidents which see young people being left with devastating injuries, lifelong issues, and being trapped in a vicious cycle from which they struggle to break out of.
“Our work today is designed to stop exactly those things. We want to get people who we suspect of crime off the streets, seize deadly weapons, and get drugs out of supply before they end up in the hands of vulnerable people.
“The communities of Manchester don’t deserve to be living in fear or having to hear about an awful act of violence of the news. We are working to stop these incidents, stop these feuds, and tackle violence before it even begins.
“I would urge anyone in the community and who has information to please get in touch with us. We always listen to residents who are having issues and all intelligence helps assist us in our ongoing investigations.”

In 1854, Washington became one of the first territories to attempt granting voting rights to women; the legislative measure was defeated by only one vote. In 1871, the Washington Women's Suffrage Association was formed, largely attributable to a crusade through Washington and Oregon led by Susan B. Anthony and Abigail Scott Duniway. The late nineteenth century saw a seesaw of bills passed by the Territorial Legislature and subsequently overturned by the Territorial Supreme Court, as the competing interests of the suffrage movement and the liquor industry (which was being damaged by the women's vote) battled over the issue. The first successful bill passed in 1883 (overturned in 1887), the next in 1888 (overturned the same year). The women's suffrage movement next hoped to secure the right to vote via voter referendum, first in 1889 (the same year Washington achieved statehood), and again in 1898, but both referendum bids were unsuccessful. This weekly Thursday meet during the summer is based at the sea front in the sea side resort of Weston Super Mare, North Somerset, UK.
It is organised by the Riders Branch of the British legion, all bikes donate £1 to enter and all proceeds go the charity "The Poppy Appeal".

This is a hex bolt now but in practice it'll be either a knob or maybe a tamper-resistant bolt so one can leave the box, itself locked, on the rack.
this polar bear is made from white leather effect fabric and dark brown felt. he has a metal brooch bar securely attached to his back and is strengthened with recycled linoleum flooring sandwiched between two layers of the dark brown felt (then handstitched all around it). I have handstitched the detailing with black thread.

A rather fine booklet issued by the GPO - General Post Office - about the Faraday Building on Queen Victoria Street in London that was "the centre of the British telephone service". Here was centred not just two major local telephone exchanges - City and Central - but also the origination point for all international calls and radio services.
The original building had been opened in 1890 to serve the Post Office Savings Bank and part was first used for telephone purposes in 1904; long distance services were added in 1904. The booklet is undated but makes play of the opening of the purpose built International Telephone Exchange section in 1933, designed by A.R. Myers, architect in the H.M. Office of Works. Faraday House was further extended in 1938/39 to deal with increasing service requirements and, in 1942, a more secure wing known as the Citadel was constructed.
The booklet describes the various services in detail and a selection of pages are scanned here. In terms of graphic design it is very much in line with the corporate 'look' of the GPO at the time that was often very contemporary in terms of both design and typography. Oddly no designer nor printer is shown.
This addition to the gas station is relatively new but the grab rail in the bathroom is already falling apart. Worse yet, it has been broken for a long time with no repair.

Here is a DIY project to make shock cord holders. These are often used for tents or a dining fly. Commercially they are made with a plastic Ball on the end. Here is how I made mine.
1) I cut 1/2 inch or so pieces off of a Dowel rod (1.25 inch I think). I used a hand saw and miter box. This created a ragged edge which would have to be sanded out for a nicer finish. For what I am doing I did not do that.
2) Drilled a hole in the middle of this "Cookie". just big enough to push the shock cord through doubled at the center.
3) Cut my shock cord slightly longer than twice around the object I am securing. 3in pipe that protects my straight edges in this case.
4) Fused the ends of the shock cord so they do not fray.
5) Folded the shock cord at the middle. Pushed that center point through the hole in the "cookie"
6) Tied a figure 8 knot in the bitter end of the shock cord. Pushed the "cookie" to the knot.
7) Tacked the assembly to the wall of the shed where I wanted to secure my tools with a fence staple (a U shaped nail that is driven with a hammer).
8) set my pipe in place and looped the middle over the cookie.
9) Repeate steps 1-8 3 more times. Then step back and said what a good idea.
The more tools you put in the tool box the less thinking you have to do outside of it.

There are a bunch of uses for these. You could make the "cookie" out of all kinds of material. These will NOT be exposed to the weather so I did not finish them if I were planning on using them outside I would poly them.
