The english term barbut (from the italian, barbuta) denotes a characteristically tall form of visorless helmet with narrow T- or Y-shaped face opening that was worn almost exclusively in Italy in the third quarter of the fifteenth century. This barbut is forged from a single plate of steel, its hemispherical skull rising to a sharp comb at the top and descending at the sides and back almost to the tops of the shoulders; the back of the helmet has an elegant profile that curves inward to follow the nape of the neck, then turns outward to form a short tail. The face opening is T-shaped and is reinfored by an applied band of iron held by decorative rosette rivets. The series of rivets encicling the middle of the bowl formerly secured a strap on the inside, to which was sewn a padded lining; below this, on either side, is a pair of rivets to secure the chin straps, now also lost.
This elegantly proportioned and gracefully shaped barbut demonstrates the virtuoso talent of the armorer. It should be kept in mind that the armorer forged the barbut from a single plate of steel, hammering the metal into shape while maintaining the protective thickness of the plate and smooth rounded glancing surfaces. Its beauty is thus integral with its protective function. Like most helmets of the fifteenth century, it was originally polished mirror bright, though a number of paintings and other works of art––such as the "birthplate" of Lorenzo de' Medici (now in the New-York Historical Society, The Bryan Collection) or the intarsia panels from Federigo da Montefeltro's study from Gubbio (acc. no. 39.153)––show barbuts covered with fabric, mounted at the edges with decorative borders, and surmounted by heraldic crests. Helmets decorated in this manner (see for example, acc. no. 29.158.15) are referred to in documents as alla Veneziana (in the Venetian manner) to denote the preference in Venice for collorfully decorated helmets such as these. This barbut has no holes for the attachment of such ornaments or crest, but nevertheless can be associated with Venice by the presence of a tiny mark in the form of the Lion of Saint Mark stamped on the left cheek. A total of six barbuts in the Metropolitan Museum are stamped with this mark, which is variously thought to be the ownership mark of the Venetian arsenal, or a customs control mark used in Venetian territory. This barbut is one of seven or eight, each bearing various armorers' marks, but all with the Lion of Saint Mark, that are said to have been discovered early in this century in Venetian territory, in the possession of Count Gino Cittadella, at Villa Saonara, near Padua.
Three armorer's marks are stamped into the metal at the rear of the helmet. The upper mark is formed of the letters XPO surmounted by an open crown, and a pair of marks below, each composed of the letters S Y beneath a split cross.
The marks are apparently unrecorded but are of a type generally recognized as Milanese. The letters incorporated into the marks are usually abbreviations of the armorer's Christian or family name. The master's mark on this barbut probably refers to a Christoforo (the Greek chi-rho- monogram––X P––stands for Christ, so that X P O can be read Christoforo). Many armorers with the name Christoforo are recorded in Milanese documents of the fifteenth century, including one Christoforo dei Seroni, mentioned in 1483. Whereas the last name of this armorer agrees with the second set of marks (the letters SY beneath a cross could plausibly be an abbreviation for Seroni), the recorded date for this armorer is considerably later than the dating of this barbut. Whether or not this helmet is an early work by Seroni or is by another armorer named Christoforo is subject for further speculation.

STERILE AREA –
RAF Barnham Nuclear Weapons Storage Facility was heavily secured and at the time was probably one of the most secure locations in the United Kingdom. The security element was the responsibility of the RAF Police (RAFP). Personnel from differing operating periods at RAF Barnham have stated that there were up to three varieties of RAF Police specialisations working at the site: 'Provost' 'Station' and 'Qualified Police Dog' (dog handlers).
As well as a standard outer fence and main gate picket post, the facility included an inner perimeter fence and within that an inner concrete wall with another picket post. The area between these two latter perimeters was classed as ''sterile'', with trip wires and flares in the gap between them and atop the wall, to alert the guard force to intruders. Pole-mounted lighting was positioned at regular intervals within the sterile area and halfway between the towers was a V-shaped bulge in the fence to allow patrolling guards the ability to look up and down the fence line from a small path that ran within the area. A telephone post was located at these bulges.
Two electric sliding gates at the outer and inner fence and a traditional style split middle wire gate acted as ''vehicle traps'' for any vehicle driving in or out. At the front sliding gate was a personnel turnstile controlled by the RAFP guardroom. At the rear sliding gate was personnel access to the inner picket where flammables and other contraband (matches, cigarettes, lighters etc) were surrendered before entering the ''Danger Area''.
RAFP Dog Handlers patrolled the site and the RAFP station staff manned the watch towers and pickets. The area between the outer and middle fence was patrolled by the Dog Handlers, with elements of the outer perimeter reportedly just spools of barbed wire.
Five Watch Towers, one at each point of the pentagonal fence, were located on the inside of the middle fencing when the site was decommissioned. These were accessible along the path within the sterile area near the fence line, some elements of which are still visible under the moss and foliage. A 6th vantage point was located on the maintenance building towards the centre of the compound. Each tower could see the others at the time of operational use (trees get in the way now) and were fitted with searchlights at a third of the way up and right at the top, possibly similar to those used on ships. It has been reported that the angle of the lights had to be limited as the Officer Commanding RAF Lakenheath had made complaints that his pilots were getting dazzled by RAF Barnham's watch towers.
The existing tall metal towers were believed to have been installed in late 1959/early 1960. Prior to this there were wooden ones, described as being pretty basic and about 15ft high, with a base around 6ft square with a large searchlight mounted in the centre which could be swung almost 360° in either direction. Access was reportedly by a wooden ladder and there was a single railing round about waist height. There was a field telephone at the top of the ladder and ''special'' binoculars were issued. The platforms were in roughly the same positions of the new towers but on the inside of the concrete path. It has been reported by another source that when the new towers were built, the fences had to be modified to accommodate them, via a U-shaped cut-out, visible on the site today.
A former RAFP Dog Handler stated that before being posted to Barnham, you and more importantly your dog had to gain at least 90% in exams/tests, meaning they had some of the best personnel and animals in the trade. In comparison, the RAFP Station staff stated that they received no special training as such for the role. They did get sent on a special security course, but that it was of little relevance or use to RAF Barnham. They simply classed it as another security related job. Some have stated that they spent a lot of time on the range, with many of the Police being marksmen. It has been reported that the RAFP were issued automatic 9mm pistols towards the end of the site's operational period, replacing the Smith and Wesson .38 that had been in common use.
The shift pattern recalled by most RAFP personnel spoken to consisted of 9 consecutive shifts comprising 3 evenings (1500-2300), 3 midnights (2300-0700) and 3 days (0700-1500) which would then be followed by 2 days off. Approximately 14 Station staff were on shift, comprising of one Sergeant shift controller, one Corporal deputy shift controller and 12 others, some made up of National Service personnel. Therefore, with an off duty shift, this meant a guard force of around 56, plus all of the ''X'' flight staff (the term used for those involved with the weapon convoys), which had around 14 personnel. It was usually an hour on and an hour off on the old wooden watch towers. The Dog Handler shift patterns were (1800-0000) and (0000-0600), with no day patrols, around 8 dogs were on site at a time.
This and other RAFP sources have said that the security personnel knew very little about the goings on inside, even with the vantage points of the towers. It is reported that all movements were specially screened to be hidden from view, with even the large bombs themselves sheeted. One RAFP officer had even reported as quipping to a convoy commander about ''another glider'' coming in, making reference to the similarity between the ''Blue Danube'' pantechnicon and a glider trailer.

Within a day of the bombing, flowers and signs began accumulating at the police barricades along the edges of the secured crime scene. Gradually, the barricades at the intersection of Boylston and Berkeley Streets turned into a full-fledged memorial. Volunteers stepped in to organize and care for the objects being left there. On April 18, Greg Zanis from Aurora, Illinois, contributed three large crosses with the names of Krystle Campbell, Lu Lingzi, and Martin Richard, these became the memorial's centerpiece. Kevin Brown from Brockton, Massachusetts, later made a fourth cross for Sean Collier.
On April 23, the day before Boylston Street reopened to the public, city workers moved the increasing number of posters, flowers, stuffed animals, t-shirts, hats, and shoes to a designated area at Copley Square. There the memorial continued to grow, and runners tied hundreds of pairs of shoes to the barricades that enclosed it on three sides. Several large message boards provided a place for everyone to write their thoughts and feelings.
In late April, Mayor Thomas M. Menino instructed the Boston City Archives to assume responsibility fr the long-term preservation of the objects from the memorial. City workers removed most of the paper items on May 7, before a heavy rain. A month later, the Mayor's Office made a decision to dismantle the temporary memorial. City Archives staff, with help from local preservation professionals and other city workers, boxed up thousands of objects on June 25.
Since then, several organizations have donated their time and resources to assist in preserving this collection. Polygon, a company specializing in water damage recovery, helped dismantle the memorial and then carefully dried the objects. Historic New England then treated the objects in its carbon dioxide chamber to eliminate any pests. And records management company Iron Mountain is currently imaging and housing the bulk of the collection at one of its storage facilities. Because of these collaborative efforts, the objects seen here - and many more - will be preserved in the City Archives collection as reminders of the love and support that this tragedy evoked.

One of Ireland's top-20 most widespread garden birds.
Status: Resident, and winter visitor from Norway, Sweden, Germany & Denmark
Conservation Concern: Green-listed in Ireland. The European population has been assessed as Secure.
Identification: The commonest and most widespread member of the thrush family In Ireland. The males's all black plumage and bright yellow bill is unmistakable, however females are much browner, with speckles on the upper breast and at first glance resemble a Song Thrush. Often cocks long tail when alarmed or when running along ground.
Similar Species: Starling, Song Thrush, Ring Ouzel
Call: One of the favourite songsters. Song is rather slow, mellow and fluty, the notes ranging widely and the sound quite far-carrying. The quality of sound resembles Song Thrush, but the phrases do not repeat, but ramble on continually changing slightly. Calls include an agitated "chink, chink, chink" or "chack, chack..", a whinnying horse-like cry and a thin "psew" .
Diet: Insects, especially earthworms. Also berries and other fruit including apples. Comes to bird tables.
Breeding: Breeds throughout Ireland in many different habitats - mostly in hedgerows and gardens. Nest in trees or bushes - especially brambles and ivy, but also conifers. Will use large open-fronted nestboxes.
Wintering: Irish breeders are largely sedentary. Migrants from the Continent arrive in autumn.
Where to See: Widespread and common throughout Ireland.
Physical characteristics
Medium-sized, round-headed, rather long-tailed, noisy thrush, differing from all other west Palearctic Turdus in uniformly or mainly dark plumage. Black in male, and rufous-brown in female. Only obvious features are yellow bill in male, pale throat in female. Flight wavering, with fast bursts of wing-beats, rather long, rounded tail obvious. Song rich and fluting. Sexes dissimilar, little seasonal variation.
Habitat
Exceptionally diverse, including dense woodland, varied types of farmland, heaths moors, some wetlands, and settled sites including inner cities. Found in middle and overlapping to lower middle and upper latitudes of west Palearctic, including oceanic islands and coasts as will as milder boreal and temperate continental regions. Given shelter, will tolerate wet, windy, and cool situations better than very warm and dry ones, prefers moisture and shade, with ample access to bare ground, layers of dead leaves or short grass and herbage.

Turdus merula is a widespread breeder across most of Europe, which constitutes >50% of its global breeding range. Its European breeding population is extremely large (>40,000,000 pairs), and was stable between 1970-1990. The species underwent a small increase during 1990-2000, with increases in the sizeable populations in Germany, France and Italy, and stable or increasing trends across most of the rest of Europe.
This thrush inhabits north-western Africa and a major part of Europe, being absent only from northern Scandinavia and Finland. In Asia its distribution is extending from Turkey to southern China. In southern and western Europe the species is sedentary, but the birds of the north and the east are migratory and winter in the south-west. Originally a bird of dense forest, this species has become adapted to man-made environments and urban areas since the last century. The total population of Europe, Russia not included, is amounting to 43 million breeding pairs

Now it was Time to head Back to the Blue Badged Ford Machines Once again as the Modified Ford Series Rolled out onto the Race Track with each car being Heavily Modified from their Road Counterparts. With Escort Cosworth's and RS200's Roaring and Ready to go it was Time to see what the First Group A set of Drivers could do in Qualifying.
Due to how large the Grids were and the Fact that both Group A and Group B Have Different Races I will only be putting up results from both Qualifying Sessions from Group A and Group B. Modified Ford Series (Qualifying Group A)

The Final Qualifying Session of the Day Had Come and its the Enduro KA'S. with all of the Cars on the Grid being Models of the Popular Ford KA made Between 1998-2009 thease Cars were Fun City cars that could get you from A to B with Ease. They were Also Build on a tight budget meaning that Handling Performance and Comfort were a Big Selling point of thease Brilliant little cars.
The Racing Versions seen here in the pictures however are built for Racing. they use different tyres but still the same Legendary 1.3 Dura Tec Engine found in their Road Going Counterparts.

With a Massive Firework Display on the Sunday and Plenty of on and Off Track Action The Weekend was Shaping up to be One to Remember.
Many Drivers and Support Races were also Present from the small Yet Nimble Legends Cars to the Much Bigger and more Powerful 1000 Break Horse Power Racing Trucks that will be doing Battle on the circuit Saturday was Looking like a Really Good Start to a Weekend of Speed Madness and Awesome Racing.

Legends Cars Championship (Qualifying)
First Up is the Famous and Fan Favourite Legends Cars Championship, Thease Little Tiny Machines Run Yamaha Motorbike Engines within them that run up to 1200/1250cc Depending on the Spec of Engine. They also are 120 Break Horse Power and with how Light Weight they are (1,325lbs Including The Driver) Thease Cars are Very Quick and Very Nimble.

Next Up was The CTCRC Racing For Marshals Race a Very Special Support Race added to the Weekend at the Last Moments to Congratulate and Commemorate the Important Safety and Work each and Every Marshal of the Circuit does where ever they go and What Ever the Circuit.
The Orange Army as they are Known as take out their Time on Weekends to Volunteer at Race Meets Marshalling the Races to ensure Driver Safety is a Top Priority in the Sport and that Rules are being Adhered to.
From Volunteers who Clean the Track after Each Race to Flag Wavers to Incident Respondents and even Vehicle Recovery The Orange Army is always on Standby For When Anything goes Wrong. They Have a Passion for Motorsport that Cannot be Matched and a Community that is still Going Strong to this Day all over the Country.
The Race itself Features a Wide Variety of Cars from Honda Civic EG2000 to Ford Escort MK1 Mexico's to even Aston Martin V8 Vantages. Each and Every Car has its Strengths and Weaknesses when it comes to Power and Control.

Pickup Trucks made their way out onto the Circuit Next and With some Very Fast and Capable Machinery in each of thease Cars Expect to see Very Fast Lap Times and a Lot of High Speed Action.
The Pickup Trucks themselves are Made out of a Space Frame with the Bodies on all the Trucks Just being either Plastic or Fibreglass which Helps to Reduce Weight and Allows for some Very Quick Lap Times around the Circuit.
Engine Specifications for the Pickup Trucks Includes a 2.0 Litre Engine Capable of 220 Break Horse Power and Much like The Legends Cars they are Still Very Nimble at High Speeds Resulting in Full concentration and Skill to ensure Victory on the Race Track.

Sandal secure line out ball at the Memorial Ground, Clatterbridge, during a 42-19 defeat by Wirral in rugby union's North Premier league. Having scored five tries, all converted, the hosts led 35-0 after 46 minutes before a belated show of spirit saw Sandal cross three times to reduce the deficit to 16 points. Wirral then clinched victory with a sixth try, also converted, in stoppage time.

Wirral RFC were founded in 1936 by former pupils of Wirral Grammar School, Bebington. After the Second World War the club leased facilities at Hooton Park Golf Club. In 1968 Wirral moved to Clatterbridge, their present home. The Old Wirralians Association Memorial Ground commemorates club players killed during the 1939-45 conflict. A major success came in 2009, when Chester were beaten 20-10 in the Cheshire Vase Final. The club maintain strong links with Wirral Grammar School.

On Thursday, July 27, 2017, the Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA) and the Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation (KWVMF) co-hosted the annual Korean War Armistice Commemoration at the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. After three years of a bloody and frustrating war, the United States, the People’s Republic of China, North Korea, and South Korea agreed to an armistice, bringing the Korean War to cease fire. The armistice ended America’s first experiment with the Cold War concept of “limited war.” The ceremony included special recognition to the 21 allied countries that came to the aid of South Korea, color teams for honors to the nations, wreath presentations and special remarks. Over 30 United States of America Korean War Veterans and 20 Korean American Korean War Veterans were on hand to remember and honor their fallen comrades. The Korean War began on June 25, 1950, when communist North Korea invaded South Korea. Almost immediately, the United States secured a resolution from the United Nations calling for the military defense of South Korea against the North Korean aggression. The war eventually bogged down into a battle of attrition. The armistice, signed on July 27, established a committee of representatives from neutral countries to decide the fate of the thousands of prisoners of war on both sides. It was eventually decided that the POWs could choose their own fate–stay where they were or return to their homelands. A new border between North and South Korea was drawn, which gave South Korea some additional territory and demilitarized the zone between the two nations. The war cost the lives of millions of Koreans and Chinese, as well as over 37,000 Americans. (from Korean War Veterans Association News Release)
