Ichiro is safe at home. The right-fielder from Japan had a big game: He broke up Kevin Slowey's no-hitter in the fifth inning, starting a rally that carried the Mariners to a win. He was 2-for-4, with an RBI and this run.
Ichiro, as he is known, had his first sub-.300 season last year since breaking into MLB in 2001. His best year was 2004, with 272 hits and a .372 batting average.
The bat is upright for a split second before each ptich.
I saw his first game at Comiskey Park in 2001. This was his final series in Chicago.
The 1st-round draft pick of the Brewers in 2012 broke in with the Diamondbacks (2016) before joining the Mariners the following season. He played right field today.
