Eighteen innings. That's how long it took the eventual World Series Champions to end the M's season and send us all home horse and exhausted. When you grow up in St. Louis Missouri, baseball is life, and I'm thankful for it. Here's to another great year, go Cards, go M's. :)

I can't tell you which game saving play this one was, but there were MANY just like it, what a night.

Until opening day.... I know, around here it's SEAHAWWWWKS all the time, but at my house I grew up in Saint Louis and it's baseball 24\7. I have 50 shots from opening day last year that I deem flickr worthy but timing is everything so they lay wasted. I'm out of stuff until tomorrow so I'm tossing this one out there. I can't wait, I've lived to see the Cubs win, why not these bumbs?!!

Oh it's on, the Blue Jays won't know what hit 'em! Four game sweep with the Mariners averaging 12 runs a game while pitching four straight perfect games, Vlad Jr. won't know what side of the plate to stand on, or, the opposite could happen. :)

The Seattle Mariners have never been to the world series in their entire existence and we fans are at the point, do we dare hope? Just once dear Lord, before I die, can we win it all?....

take a look around in here and feel the pain, anguish, hope, NEED...... For the record we lost this playoff game in 18 innings one to nil sending us home, once again, crushed.

A play area atop Safeco field offers a batting cage for the little ones and a nice view of the sunset over the Puget Sound.

I downloaded 360 shots, sent 330 to Lr, and have 87 in a folder. You may be seeing more from Opening day, I'll try to spread them out. :-)

It's a timeless game played on green grass under a golden sun from the start of Spring until the Summer is done. There is no clock, there is no hurry, just sit right back and ease your worry.

Let the crack of the bat and the pop of the glove drown out the cacophony of the day while the wafting aroma's of popcorn and peanuts take you away. There is time to laugh, to taunt, to boo and for cheers and perhaps to enjoy a few beers with your peers.

At the end of it all you've won some, you've lost some, you've experienced joy and heartbreak, tumult and euphoria, but ultimately you've been transported in time and place at least for a little while where life is good and all is right in this space. Go Cards, Go Mariners! :-)

Er, Safeco Field! I took so many shots from up here that I couldn't decide which one to post, most amazing sunset ever as seen with my daughter on Opening Night from the top of the home of the Mariners.

Stopped by Kerry park yesterday to grab this shot of Jay Buhner raising a 24 flag in honor of Ken Griffey Jr. being inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. Growing up with parents both being Seattle sports fans I was big into Griffey when I was growing up. The jerseys, the posters, the rookie cards! I loved 'The Kid', I was a true fan and still feel good everytime I see his smile. Congrats!

Heading northbound at Richmond Beach at Shoreline, Washington, on June 30, 2006, is a Sounder commuter train powered by SDRX No. 911, specially-painted in “Homerun Service” for the Seattle Mariners Major League baseball team.

The Seattle Mariners permanently retired Edgar Martinez's number eleven last Saturday, the third in this young franchise's history along with Jackie Robinson and Ken Griffey Jr. It was a love fest at the park with lot's of memories and moments being shared, but for me, the grounds crew upstaged the show. The lines are amazing, the home plate in center field and you probably see the #11, but if you look closely you'll see that it is Edgar in batting stance, his name across the top and the outline of the jersey mown (I thought that was a word, I'm leaving it) into the lawn. Fantastic job folks, it looked amazing. :-)

In honor of the Mariners playing their heated rivals the, um, San Diego Padres today I bring you my annual traditional ballpark fare, the Ivar Dog. You can't get these in the stores kids, only at Safeco Field. ps, It pares well with an ice cold Redhook ale.

Go Mariners! :-)

Well kids, as a guy who grew up in Saint Louis watching a team that played in the American Association from 1882-1891 and then the National League when Major League Baseball began in 1892 I've witnessed and walked among baseball history all my life. Outside of Busch Stadium are statues of Stan "The Man" Musial, Enos Slaughter, Dizzy Dean, Rogers Hornsby, Red Schoendienst, Lou Brock, Bob Gibson and Ozzie Smith; former St. Louis Browns player and Hall of Fame inductee George Sisler; former Negro league St. Louis Stars player and Hall of Fame inductee Cool Papa Bell; and former Cardinals radio broadcaster and Hall of Fame honoree Jack Buck. On Thursday Arpil 13th 2017 the Seattle Mariners unveiled their first statue of their first Hall of Fame player, Ken Griffey Jr. (HOF Broadcaster Dave Niehaus has a nice one inside) The word was that in 1995 that baseball would leave Seattle unless we built them a new stadium and it wasn't looking good until the Mariners led by the kid with the sweet swing got hot and reminded everyone how great this game is. Safeco Field is a marvel and a joy to attend and baseball thrives still in the Pacific Northwest.

the link is my ringtone on my phone..... :-) youtu.be/VPddeKgm1Fo

the fields have been mowed, the grass is fresh and green. the dogs are on the grill and the beer straight from the tap. head out to your favorite park this year and let time slow down for a few hours during the dog days of summer. the boys are back in town. :-)

My prediction? Mariners/Cardinals!!!!

I expected many Red Sox fans to be at the game, but was surprised at just how many turned out. "Red Sox fans" determined by a Sox hat or shirt or some other signifier.

These helmets were fan giveaways at a game in the Mariners first season in 1976. They were give to youngsters 14-years-old and younger. My son 14 and my daughter 12 each got one. My son, now 61, and i wore them recently to a Mariners game in Seattle.

Seattle Mariners legend, Ichiro Suzuki, HoF Class of 2025, waving to the crowd during the 2025 National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend's Parade of Legends in Cooperstown, NY, on July 26th, 2025.

Ichiro Suzuki became the first Japanese baseball player to be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. His career spanned 28 seasons which began with playing 9 seasons for the Nippon Professional Baseball's Orix BlueWave before becoming the first Japanese position player to play in the MLB. He played the majority of his 19 season MLB career with the Seattle Mariners where he won both AL Rookie of the Year and AL Most Valuable Player in his rookie season in 2001, but also had brief stints with the New York Yankees and Miami Marlins before returning and retiring as a Seattle Mariner. In his 19 seasons, he has amassed a total of 3,089 hits (4,367 hits between the NPB and MLB), a 0.311 career batting average, set the single season hits record in 2004, and only player to amass 10 straight 200-hit seasons. He is a 10-time All-Star, 2x AL Batting Champ, 3x AL Silver Slugger, 10x Gold Glover, 2007 All-Star Game MVP.

Some say that this is the most widely watched and probably the most memorable induction speech in the history of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Taken from Pier 66 in Seattle. If only the Mariners offense had as much pop as the fireworks show. It has gotten better as of late but if you can't pitch? Ah well, there's always next year.

Definitely the biggest photo project I have ever undertaken. Literally!

Made from 8 handheld HDR shots, a total of 24 raw photos at -2, 0, +2.

The original 16-bit tiff took half an hour to stitch together then 5 minutes just to save!

Captured at a Seattle Mariners baseball game and processed for Sliders Sunday using Snspseed. HSS everyone!

Seven consecutive captures of Seattle Mariner pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma at a game with the Oakland Athletics on July 11, 2014. This pitch resulted in a strike.

I grew up in Saint Louis Missouri and have been to World Series games and there is nothing like it. I've lived up here in Washington State since 1990 and rooted for a team that has never been to the dance, much less won it. We have a legitimate chance.. Let's go Mariners!!!

FYI season standings of right now, Cardinals 1 Everyone else 0. :-)

My most anticipated day of the year, the sun comes out, the smell of garlic fries, the traditional Ivar's dog washed down with a Red Hook. Crack of the bat, the pop of leather, the game of eternal Spring played on grass so green that it doesn't look real.

At least there was 1 positive thing to take from the Mariners game this past weekend.... a nice sunset!

The Mariners got outscored by the Cleveland Indians, 9-0 that night =(

Explore #87 July 27, 2009

The quintessential moment of opening day for me, I knew I had this in camera right away. this guy had moved to Boise and came back up this weekend to hawk programs, got me for five bucks and a dollar tip for the shot.

Ken Griffey is going into the HOF with the highest percentage of votes all time. should have been one hundred percent, but whateva!

Attended a game at the beautiful Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas where the Houston Astros hosted the Seattle Mariners. The game was pretty tight, but went to the visiting Seattle Mariners by the score of 4-1. Great game, great stadium and a great day to be at a ballpark. Maybe that was the $1 hot dogs talking!

This classic view of Pier 66 was taken at blue hour unfortunately I did not manage to get the 'blue that I want so I decided to desaturated all the colors and leave just orange. Have a great weeks to everyone..

Someone needs a full time proofreader.

Located on the downtown Seattle waterfront in the same building as Anthony’s Bell St. Diner and Anthony’s Fish Bar, near beautiful craft marina and an interactive maritime discovery center.

Obligatory photograph of the only remnant from Comiskey Park. The sign has been on the north side of W. 35th St. since at least the 1950s.

Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-890 N564AS taxis at Los Angeles (LAX/KLAX) October 18, 2017. Departing for Portland as ASA 441.

While we waited for the Mariners Baseball game to start, I went over to watch these guys throw some kettle corn together.

I asked if it was alright to take some pictures of how they make it and after a minute, he said "okay."

I asked him his name and he looked at me and said, "My name is Chris, but they call me the Lizard."

He said he'd show me how it's made, so I'll show you too..

Spring is here and that means it is time for baseball! The Mariners are off to a good start, as of the writing of this with a 2 and 1 record! I know, it is early, but we all here in Seattle can hope that the Mariners will do well this season!

This was from the other night when I was out shooting with Chris www.flickr.com/photos/ixfe/5587827422/ I have always wanted to do a night shot of Safeco Field , now I need to do a "Blue Hour" shot. At least there might be a little more traffic for some cool light trails. I don't know, but having people moving through the photo might be kind of cool too!

This is my first ever night, I mean not "Blue Hour," HDR image. It is because I finally learned how to take an exposure that is longer than 30 seconds! I am now operating my camera at "Manual." It is great to have the fine control over what your camera does! You are right Aaron www.flickr.com/photos/sicalufakiss/5586534763/ Once you've gone "Manual" you will never go back!

So this is a combination of three exposures merged and tonemapped in Photomatix. I did a slight crop, but wanted to leave in the telephone poles on the left as it sort of framed that side and anchors the lamp light. A couple of light adjustments in Lightroom along with an added vignette.

Thank you for viewing my photostream and for your comments and faves. I really appreciate them.
