Sophia and Olivia, along with the Home Ec Class, are stirring their sourdough starter. They were so excited to be stirring the yeast, flour, sugar, and water.

  

FOX 26 Chief Meteorologist, Dr. Jim Siebert, performed a wild n' wacky weather demo at the Children's Museum of Houston, on April 12, as part of CMH's latest weather exhibit, the Magic School Busâ„¢ Kicks up a Storm (opened through May 11, 2008). He was assisted by CMH educator, Keith Ostfeld.

Both kids got science sets this year and were very excited about them. Clark's is a proper chemistry set.

We have been learning about energy in grade 4 science and I have to admit that I am learning as much as the students (a day or two ahead of them). The depth of my ignorance about elementary school science is stunning. I must slept through grade school.

The 'Portaloo of death' lifting off for the ITV/Sky tv show 'Brainiac' in 2007. The toilet weighed about 400lbs/200kg and was powered by an 'O' class cluster of a core M1939W, four K660 Classics and about 8 'I's. It reached about 800ft before going 'somewhat squirrelly' and landing in a lovely tail-slide.

Watching the finished volcano "erupt". (Project 365)

Christina's program for the Tweens this week was Science Experiments. The kids got to try to create static electricity with by rubbing records on cloth and hair and trying to pick up tiny objects.

Battelle/PNNL researchers participated in the 2nd annual Celebration of Science at John Dam Plaza in Richland. The event is festival-style, showcasing the amazing contributions of science-based industries in our community.

This was the chemistry experiment we did in place of a unity candle.

Instructions:

Make hole in bottom of bottle; I used a glue gun (beware any fumes from the PETE plastic).

Place rubber glove on rim with rubber band and inflate glove.

Seal hole with Silly Putty.
