Scientists recently performed three more experiments on local freshwater mussels. The purpose was to measure how much pollutants are removed as these animals filter water clean while they eat. This will help tell planners how investments in mussel restoration lead to cleaner water. Imagine if we could decrease our need for water treatment simply by investing in shellfish, many of which can live up to a century. Visit DelawareEstuary.org/freshwater-mussels to learn more.

It takes some guts to wear a slinky green leotard in public. Color me impressed. Though a zentai suit would have been mind blowing. Maybe I'll wear one next year.

Red wax seals the cork and the word “secret”(not shown at this angle) is embossed on her thigh.

Will drinking this mad science improve the situation ... or create the situation?

Christina's program for the Tweens this week was Science Experiments. The kids got to try to create static electricity with by rubbing records on cloth and hair and trying to pick up tiny objects.

The 'Cocktail Shaker'. Taking off from the 'Space Bar'... this rocket had a cocktail shaker in the payload bay... the two H143SS's were mounted in canted pods on the sides to spin her up as she launched... worked a treat and left this awesome double-helix smoke trail.

The rocket was about 22" diameter and 14ft tall, the upper yellow section contained 100 litres of ready-mixed custard and two theatrical maroons. The rocket reached 1400ft and then 'detonated' the custard.
