At the city-center terminus of Line 2, the tram is scheduled to leave only right before the next arrives.
In an attempt to get myself reantiquated with my work sleep schedule after a week off, I woke early yesterday to go shoot sunrise. Luck would find me at the Kenosha Pierhead lighthouse where I snapped arguably my best shot of the year. What a way to ring in the final month of 2024. A nippy -2 wind chill was not ideal, a long thaw in my car took place after I finished here.

Running nearly an hour ahead of schedule, 60066 makes its presence known as it lifts 6F05 16.16 Tunstead Sidings - Lostock Works away from Great Rocks Jn.
This wasn't really the intended composition, however the early running caught me off guard, so I hastily recomposed and just managed to get this, phew.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One # to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other # to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days # staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow # a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left # I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However # I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous # unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。

Starring, filming, editing, directing, everything is me😅
主演、撮影、編集、監督、すべて僕です😅
Last Saturday, Agnieszka and I attended a collodion process workshop with Mateusz Detyniecki. We learned about the history of wet plate photography, how to mix the chemicals to develop, set a scene and use the camera. Mateusz worked with us throughout the day, patiently explaining the process and helping us achieve success. This is one of the best and most interesting workshops that I have attended, and if it is something that interests you or someone you know, definitely get in touch with him and schedule your own workshop. What a gift this makes!
Agnieszka and I each shot 3 smaller plates and 1 large plate for the workshop, for a total of 8. It's a slow process, but as you can see, the effect is quite worth the effort.
This is the first plate I took of my life partner Agnieszka. Pure magic and beautiful.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One # to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other # to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days # staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow # a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left # I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However # I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous # unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

このロットナンバーは、眠っていたレオナルドダヴィンチの作品がオークションにかけらた際に付されたものです。
作品にはサインなどがいっさい記されていなかったため、彼の作品だと断定できませんでした。
しかし、様々な鑑定の結果、陽の光を浴びました。

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

Pre war history: Delivered in Sept.-1904 from Bergens Mek. Værksted, Solheimsviken, Bergen as Stavenes to Nordre Bergenhus Amts Dampskibe, Bergen. Steel hull reinforced for travel through ice, rounded bow, 104,6’ x 20,1’ x 9,8’, 181 gt, Tripple Expansion 49nhk 237ihk. Used in regularly scheduled service in Dalsfjord and Førdesfjord in Sunnfjord, occasionally in Nordfjord and around Florø. During the wintertime in the period 1904-1909 she carried mail Gudvangen-Lærdal in inner Sogn. In regularly scheduled service Florø-Måløy-Nordfjordeid-Sandane, summer of 1912. On Jan. 25-1919 the owning company changed its name to Fylkesbaatane i Sogn & Fjordane, Bergen. Rebuilt in 1934; could now carry 7-8 cars and at the same time she got electricity and a covered wheelhouse. Used as ferry Lærdal-Vadheim in inner Sogn every summer.
POST WAR: For several years after the war Stavenes was in the tourist trade Flåm-Balestrand-Fjærland in the summertime, then in service Lustrafjorden-Årdal and Flåm-Gudvangen in the wintertime. Rebuilt at Frydenbø Slip & Mek. Verksted, Damsgård in Bergen, spring 1954. Converted to motor vessel with a 6cyl 2tev Weddop 300bhk (1942), 10 knots, then in 1957 with a 2tev Normo dm 350bhk (1957). Ran aground on Dec. 23-1958 near Ortnevik in Sogn, refloated herself, no damages. Later placed in the local Bergen-Gulen-Solund-Hyllestad route in outer Sogn. Ran aground in Nov.-1960 south of Bakkastraumen in Nordhordland county. The floating library vessel Abdullah took the passengers to Bergen. Refloated by salvage vessel Salvator the next morning. Laid up at some point in the 1960's, then in the summer of 1969 she was hired out (with some adjustments) for use in the film "Song of Norway", filmed in Gudvangen, Aurland, Olden and Geiranger, then laid up again. Sold in Dec.-1972 to J. Graham Kew, Rugby for use as a yacht. Not long afterwards she visited western Norway with the American Jeffrey A. Hoffmann as skipper, later astronaut for NASA.
Following the death of her owner she was laid up at Grimsby for 3 years and fell into a bad state of repair. Taken over at some point in the 1970's by The Monks Ferry Training Trust, Birkenhead. Placed in drydock in Port Penryth, northern Wales with the intent of fixing her up using unemployed workers. All interior was removed and some alterations made before the project stranded and she continued to fall into bad state of repair. After a while the dock was to be torn down so Stavenes had to be removed. A politician in Liverpool helped prevent her from being broken up.
In Jan.-1990 Sigmund and Jarle Lomelde from Sogn went to England to see if she could be preserved, then in Oct. that year she was also examined by people from Fylkesbaatane and from Sogndal Utviklingsselskap. Taken over by Veteranskipslaget Stavenes, Kaupanger in May-1991 for restoration back to her 1930's appearance, and towed from Liverpool to Solund that same month. That summer a new deck was installed and her diesel engine removed, laid up in Kaupanger where she sank in the winter of 1994 due to large amounts of snow. Raised, a temporary roof installed across her entire length. In 1998 the owners purchased a suitable steam engine from a condemned Swedish tug (engine was built in Jönköping in 1893). Additionally, a suitable boiler was obtained from Måløy Sildoljefabrikk (herring oil factory). In 200o she was still laid up in Kinsedal, Lustrafjord.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One # to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other # to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days # staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow # a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left # I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However # I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous # unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

Nine minutes after shooting train number 31 I lensed this one, number 32 out of 54 trains I ultimately photographed in the span of 4 hr 45 min here at Dobbs Ferry.
Metro North train 4761, a Friday only 5:36 PM out of Grand Central Terminal that makes no stops until Greystone then all stops until its scheduled arrival at Croton-Harmon 59 minutes after departing the city. The train consists of a six car set of old Budd built M3As of which 142 were built for Metro North in 1984-85 as part of the second to last cars ever produced in the company's famed Red Lion plant in Philadelphia
This is MP 20.5 as measured from Grand Central Terminal on modern day Metro North's Hudson Line, the four track former New York Central water level route which traces its history here back to 1849. In 1913 the NYC installed third rail electrification through here as far as Harmon, 33 miles north, a system that remains to this day.
Today this route is astonishingly busy with over 150 MNCW trains passing this point on weekdays with electric MUs operating as far as Croton-Harmon and diesel powered trains to Poughkeepsie, 73 miles north. In addition another 22 Amtrak trains pass to and from points as far flung as Burlington, VT, Montreal and Toronto in Canada, and Chicago. Lastly rounding out the parade is a nightly CSXT road freight between Selkirk Yard near Albany and Oak Point Yard in the Bronx.
A dozen miles down river can be seen the George Washington Bridge and less than twenty miles away are the high rises of Midtown Manhattan. At right steaming down river is a big freighter, the Bam Despina a Marshall Islands flagged vessel built by China Shipbuilding in 2009. It's a dry bulk carrier 592 ft long with a beam of nearly 98 1/2 ft and a summer deadweight capacity 35,727 US tons.

"Porter (POE) 442" lined up on 27 ready for departure back to Toronto approximately 3 hours behind schedule. The inbound flight diverted to Vancouver due to weather but in the end the delay worked in my favour with this nice afternoon light.
There`s actually something quite symbolic regarding this picture taken of RM`s 1383, 1442 and 1443 inside Turnham Green Garage on 16 August 1982.
The adverse reaction to the declaration of the `Fares Fair` policy of cheap travel being deemed illegal, was to remove around two hundred RM`s from service with schedule cuts taking effect from 4 September 1982. Just ahead of this, several serviceable RM`s were taken out of use with four going immediately for reuse abroad and seven being sent as `pilot` vehicles to different scrap metal / vehicle dismantling firms. This was to allow these businesses to break an RM in order to determine if this was something that they wanted to pursue further in the knowledge that LT would be soon looking to appoint a firm to handle bulk scrapping and parts reclaim. The three RM`s here were part of that but for some reason RM 1383 was kept back and remained as a withdrawn bus for over a year with RM 1390 taking its place by going to Sykes (Barnsley) in August 1982 along with RM 1442 going to Way & Williams (Cardiff) and RM 1443 to Birds (Long Marston).

The Palm Beach County Cultural Council, the official arts agency serving non-profit cultural organizations and professional artists throughout the county, has announced the schedule for its grand opening week in the council’s new home in downtown Lake Worth.
In December 2011, the council moved into the historic Robert M. Montgomery Jr. Building at 601 Lake Ave. The building first opened in 1940 as the Lake Worth Theater and later housed three different art museums, but has been closed to the public since 2005.
Scheduled to reopen to the public on Jan. 19 2012, the newly renovated building will serve as the cultural council’s headquarters. The building’s 11,000 square feet will include galleries for community exhibitions, an artist resource center, tourism services, education and training facilities, as well as meeting space.
“It is critically important for the umbrella organization for art and culture in Palm Beach County to have a hub,” Cultural Council Board Chairman Michael J. Bracci said in a written statement. “The building will help people understand the importance of art and culture to our quality of life. It provides a place for the cultural community as well as our residents and visitors to gather and find information. It is also vitally important to the strategic goals of the cultural council. We couldn’t be more pleased.”
Named after the late Robert M. Montgomery Jr., a prominent attorney and philanthropist, the building was renovated with assistance from the Lake Worth Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), which committed $700,000 for the project. The CRA’s grant is part of its larger Cultural Renaissance Program, focusing on redevelopment through the establishment of artists, cultural centers and institutes within Lake Worth, while expanding the economic base and improving the investment image of the area.
When the Montgomery family donated the classic building to the cultural council in January 2010, it was the largest single donation in the council’s 33-year history.
“I am extremely proud to make this gift in honor of Bob’s memory, and the legacy he built in the legal, cultural and philanthropic communities,” said Mary Montgomery, when she donated the building last January. “Giving this historic building to the cultural council will strengthen Bob’s vision of a healthy cultural foundation developing better students, better citizens and a better community.”

Originally Lahore Stadium, the facility was renamed in 1974 in honour of the former Libyan leader Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi following a speech he gave at the 2nd Organisation of the Islamic Conference meeting in Lahore in favour of Pakistan's right to pursue nuclear weapons. The stadium houses the headquarters of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
In 1995–96, the Gaddafi Stadium was renovated by architect Nayyar Ali Dada for the 1996 Cricket World Cup. Dada's redesign was done in the Mughal style, with red, hand-laid brickwork and arches. Dada also had plastic seating installed in place of the existing concrete benches. The lower portion under the stands was enclosed and converted to shops for boutiques and offices. Gaddafi Stadium was the first in Pakistan to be equipped with modern floodlights having their own standby power generators. On 23 October 2011 the Pakistan Cricket Board discussed renaming the stadium following the death of Gaddafi, to support NTC and Libya. The Punjab Olympic Association made a similar request in late October 2011 to the provincial chief minister, telling Cricinfo:, "I don't think his profile is inspirational enough to link with our cricket stadium's identity." As of April 2012, however, it does not appear that the stadium's name will be changed after all.
Pakistan has enjoyed some memorable moments on the ground, including a fifth-wicket stand of 281 between Javed Miandad and Asif Iqbal against New Zealand in 1976 and an innings and 324 run win against New Zealand in 2002. The stadium hosted the final of the 1996 World Cup, which was watched by over 60,000 spectators. However, despite the impressive capacity, the ground is often sparsely attended for Test matches, with sometimes as few as 1000 fans turning up. One-day internationals are more popular and crowds in excess of 20,000 are common.
On 3 March 2009, the scheduled third day of second Test of 2008–09 Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan, the Sri Lankan team's convoy was attacked by armed militants at Liberty Roundabout, near Gaddafi stadium. Eight Sri Lankan players were injured, including Sri Lankan captain, Mahela Jayawardene. The Sri Lankan team was air-lifted from Gaddafi Stadium to a nearby airbase, from where they were evacuated back to Sri Lanka.

Note, 25910 was scheduled to be built by BBeyer Peacock Gorton Limited at Gorton (works number 8075) but due to financial problems at Beyer Peacock Gorton Limited was built by British Railways at Derby works in November 1966 as number D7665, being renumbered 25315 in week ending 30th March 1974. It was selected for a dedicated fleet restricted to 60mph for freight workings having been subject to a recent ‘E’ exam, being renumbered 25910 on 4th December 1985. It was withdrawn from Carlisle Traction Maintenance Depot on 18th March 1987 and stored Crewe Diesel Traction Maintenance Depot and then Basford Hall yard. It was sold for scrap to Vic Berry Limited, arriving at his Leicester yard on 24th July 1987 where it was cut up in mid September 1987. And the Siding was locally known as the Slums

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One # to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other # to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days # staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow # a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left # I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left # how many times did I depend too much on her # doubt her # envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However # I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me # a guy filled with ambiguous # unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。

Today is a special day.
First up, it’s the 4 year birthday of my photoblog, www.murphyz.co.uk. 4 years ago today I started posting images there, and after a month of daily posting I cut back to Monday thru Friday of posting a new image, so just 5 per week instead of 7. That has continued throughout. Through busy schedules, illness, travel and various other distractions, I have somehow managed to post an image without fail during the whole of that period.
I think that’s pretty awesome.
I've learnt a lot in the past 4 years, and improved greatly. I've met some amazing people, and made some great friends. I've also changed as a person. From someone who never used to like to travel, I've started to do a lot more of that. 4 years ago when I started the blog I had visited 5 foreign countries; by the time I finish the trip I'm currently on that total will be 34 countries…and that’s due to photography.
However, it’s now at an end. As the title of this post suggests, I will not…indeed I can not…continue to do the same. I’m not sure I’m learning anything through posting daily. I’m no longer finding that I am enjoying it in the same way as I used to either. Sure, I love being out there and taking photos, I love processing them, and I love to share them – however I can do all of that without having to post daily. There were too many times last year when I felt I had to post just for the sake of posting, and my heart wasn’t in those particular images. There’s one thing for creating something and sharing it because you want to, but it’s another thing when you are just going through the motions and creating something because you feel you have to. Quality suffers as a result.
I also want to free up more time to do other things. Work takes up a large portion of my life, and much of my ‘spare’ time in the past year has been travelling. In between those and trying to maintain some sort of social life I had tried to fit in photography and daily posting of images. That doesn’t leave time for much else, and there are lots of projects I wish to work on. If I can free up the hours I spend on processing and apply these elsewhere, I think that would be a great thing.
It’s not the end completely. I will still be posting images, they just won’t be daily any more. Chances are, if you follow me on the social network sites instead of the blog itself, then you may not notice any difference as I don’t post all of my images on sites other than my blog. However, I can’t guarantee when I’m posting. It won’t be daily, it may not even be weekly or monthly. I guess it just depends on how I feel, what I’m up to, where I go, and those kinds of things.
In one way it will be sad to stop. Part of me thinks ‘give it another year’ as 5 years seems like a better number to end on. However, as I’m typing this I’m feeling pretty pleased by it.
For the next 10 days I’m going to be spending time in Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand – so the chances are these will be the next images you see from me once I’ve returned.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。

A whole new world!
41 light-years away is the small, rocky planet LHS 475 b. At 99% of Earth’s diameter, it’s almost exactly the same size as our home world. This marks the first time researchers have used the Webb telescope to confirm an exoplanet.
NASA’s TESS mission hinted at the planet’s existence, making it a target of interest for Webb. Webb’s NIRSpec instrument then captured the planet easily and clearly with just 2 transit observations.
Although Webb data definitively tells us that LHS 475 b is a small rocky world, the existence and composition of its atmosphere is a mystery. The planet is a few hundred degrees warmer than Earth and very close to its star, completing an orbit in just 2 days. However, its red dwarf star is much cooler than our Sun, so scientists theorize an atmosphere is still possible. Additional follow-up observations are scheduled this summer.

Three units lead UP's thrice weekly manifest from Grand Junction to Denver, the only regularly scheduled manifest UP still runs on the Moffat. The train passes through the OS at East Rocky. One thing I never quite understood about East Rocky. When UP added their control point designations, East Rocky was given CP DS016. However, it is much closer to milepost 17, so it seems like CP DS017 would have been more logical.

STB: You’re joking, right? Oh, I’m sorry. Where are my manners? Hello little dude, long time no see. Last time I saw you you were running away to join a circus. What in the Galaxy are you up to now? Oh, and what’s your name today?
JW: Hello unka Dude, I sure missed you. Did you miss me? I couldn’t find a circus, so I cided to stay on board. I now have a new hobby to keep me busy. And you already know my name! Momma and Unka Pappy said the same thing when they saw me this morning - so I cided that’s my name today! Doncha love it?
STB: Sorry, I’m not following you. What’s your name? And what’s with the new hobby?
JW: I’m Joekin Wright! That’s what momma and Unka Pappy said when they first saw me. So - it’s obvious. That’s who I am! Oh, and my new hobby? Well, that Dark Vader man said girls like guys who dance, so I’m going to be the Dark Lord of the Dance!
STB: Oh ka-a-ay. Well, Joekin, I think what we have here is a failure to communicate. Pretty sure Vader meant a different kind of dance. But I can’t dance so I’m not going to be able to give any advice. And as far as I know there aren’t any dance instructors on board so you’re on your own with this one.

The Grade I Listed Conwy Castle built between 1283 and 1289 during King Edward I's second campaign in Wales. In Conwy, Conwy County, North Wales.
It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and managed by Cadw. It is also part of the World Heritage Site entitled Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd. The Castle was built along with the Town Walls at the combined cost of £15,000, (approximately £7.6 million in today's money).
Before the English construction of the town of Conwy, the site was occupied by Aberconwy Abbey, a Cistercian monastery favoured by the Welsh princes. The site also controlled an important crossing point over the river Conwy between the coastal and inland areas of North Wales and was defended for many years by Deganwy Castle.
The English kings and Welsh princes had vied for control of the region since the 1070s and the conflict had been renewed during the 13th century, leading to Edward I intervening in North Wales for the second time during his reign in 1282.
Edward invaded with a huge army, pushing north from Carmarthen and westwards from Montgomery and Chester. Edward captured Aberconwy in March 1283 and decided that the location would form the centre of a new county: the abbey would be relocated eight miles inland and a new English castle and walled town would be built on the monastery's former site.
The ruined castle of Deganwy was abandoned and never rebuilt. Edward's plan was a colonial enterprise and placing the new town and walls on top of such a high-status native Welsh site was in part a symbolic act to demonstrate English power.

He's already back on Earth, but I took this picture of Mike doing some science last week because it looked so cool. On the Space Station we have a tight schedule and all of us are always doing different things. Often we don't know exactly what the other person is doing, and it is a testament to the planners at mission control that they ensure we don't get in each other's way all the time. Think of all the constraints, from power, to vibrations, equipment, time and physical space inside the Station, during the week we were 11 of us it was hectic but we also got so much done. Mike was packing the RTPCG-2 experiment for its return to Earth, it involves growing protein crystals in space that are helping researchers identify new ways of making medicine.
Il est déjà de retour sur Terre, mais j'aime bien cette photo de Mike prise la semaine dernière. Je n'avais aucune idée de l'expérience sur laquelle il travaillait : ça reflète bien notre quotidien. À bord de la Station, les plannings sont très serrés et tout le monde s'affaire sans arrêt. Le plus souvent, on ne sait même pas ce que font les autres astronautes. Au centre de contrôle, nos planneurs travaillent durs pour éviter qu'on ait besoin des mêmes équipements ensemble. Et à 11 la semaine dernière, on leur a donné du fil à retordre ! Alimentation électrique, disponibilité des équipements, vibrations ou même simplement le fait d'avoir assez d'espace physique pour travailler : il y a énormément de contraintes à prendre en compte. J'ai fini par lui poser la question : Mike rangeait l'expérience RTPCG-2 avant de la ramener sur Terre. Elle sert à étudie la croissance de cristaux de protéines en impesanteur. À terme, elle devrait aider les chercheurs à découvrir de nouveaux moyens de fabriquer des médicaments.
