THEME: THE AMERICAS
I picked up a nice old book about Chile that had page after page black & white images. And it was the kind of paper I like working with best--matte. So I found the happy bathers in it. I do believe the barren trees on the horizon are also from the same book. Then I found the airship with the words of wisdom. Lastly I found another image in my scrap box featuring a waterway and a bridge so I carefully cut that out to go above the bathing scene. (Note: Michael Leigh pointed out this image is of a UK bridge, so oops! my collage is not exactly all about The Americas!) All pasted down on an old book cover.

How to do it
It's all about choices. All we have to do is to choose the most efficient way water conserving method. Here is a list of steps to get started:
1. Brushing teeth with tap water running for 1 minute = 6 liters, Brushing teetch with a glass of water = 0.5 liters
2. Taking a bath = 100 litres, taking a 5 minutes shower = 30 liters
3. Leaking tap/toilet = 100 liters per day, New type of toilet flush = 6 liters (1/2 flush = 3 liters)
4. Top loading washing machine = 150 liters, Front loading washing machine = 100 liters
5. Washing dishes for 15 minutes with tap water running = 90 litres, Washing dishes in a soaking sink = 45 liters.

War, famine, mass extinctions and devastating plagues – all of these are coming unless some kind of miraculous solution is found to the world’s rapidly growing water crisis. By the year 2030, the global demand for water will exceed the global supply of water by an astounding 40 percent according to one very disturbing U.S. government report. As you read this article, lakes, rivers, streams and aquifers are steadily drying up all over the planet. The lack of global water could potentially be enough to bring about a worldwide economic collapse all by itself if nothing is done because no society can function without water. Just try to live a single day without using any water some time. You will quickly realize how difficult it is. Fresh water is the single most important natural resource on the planet, and we are very rapidly running out of it.
during summer time most of the water bodies dried up as a result nature started showing its ill effect on living beings!! so make sure you save water to save lives..

Water Conservation - 8th Wonder of the World.
7th to 15th February in the parking lot at Kala Ghoda Arts Festival 2009 by Brinda Chudasama Miller and Krsna Mehta (supported by Cox and Kings).
Theme: water conservation
A 40' high pyramid has 3 sides-each adorned with different kinds of water related objects .. one side has an assortment of plastic bottles, the 2nd side has taps of various material and sizes and the 3rd side has assorted plastic buckets.
Lamps inside are draped with fabric of screen printed droplets.
This is an interpretation that suggests that in the future, water going to be scarse .. thus it is going to be one of 'The Future wonders of the The World' (the Pyramid shape symbolises - "wonder of the Ancient World").
The interior is illuminated with subtle lighting so that the structure glows at night.
Weplan to install this year The KGAF with different environmental themes each time.
Who knows? This work of art become the 'Wonder of Kala Ghoda'!

As it's World Water Day Pip & Squeak decided that for today they'd share the (bird) bath. They'd heard that years ago there was a phrase about "save water, bath with a friend" and thought it quite a good idea.
They promise that as little water as possible was wasted while this photo was being taken. A small splash here and there, and afterwards the bath water made my cup of tea!

Water crisis is one of the major issues that the world is facing and it is the responsibility, perhaps the duty of each one of us to contribute towards water management. Intelligent utilisation of water resources is the need of the hour.

BANKIMCHANDRA, A visionary poet, in our national song ‘Vande Mataram’, salutes the prosperity of our motherland and its rich natural resources and plentiful water. Yet, India and in large our world is facing the problem of water since many years. The future of the world is under threat due to water crisis.
There is water crisis today but the crisis is not about having too little water to fulfil our needs, it is a crisis of managing water so poorly that billions of people, animals,birds and the environment suffer badly.
