I happened upon this scene at Sunnyside Beach on one of my evening walks along the lakeshore. Near Budapest park just south of Parkdale in Toronto.
My first diptych. I was just testing out my new Photoshop, so I took pictures of my hands. I still have a few kinks to work out, obviously!
Damp and dejected we decided to continue to Whangarei Heads and see if there was anymore boat action further around, we came across ‘The Deck’ cafe on our way and felt a cooked breakfast was well and truly in order. Luckily it seems other Te Araroa hikers had thought the same and the cafe owners Marlene and Kerry took one look at us and knew the score – having trouble hitching a ride?
Much to our delight they had a boat and were happy to ferry damp hikers across. Kerry had to run some errands in town first so Marlene drove us to their lovely holiday home so Nicky could get a shower and warm up first. Amazing people :)
Long, long, ago there was a sea turtle named Kauila (cow ee la). Legend says that she protected and watched over little children. It was said that she could turn into a small girl herself and swim with the children. Now the tides have turned. Today, instead of the sea turtles protecting us, we must protect them. We must reverse roles and become Aliuak (a lee oo ca), protector of the sea turtles. This web page is dedicated to the survival of sea turtles and to showing how you can help to insure that they will always be here to watch over us.
I think we chucked most of the light emitting equipment we had at this life preserver at the end of the spit of land in Hayle Estuary - thanks again go to Julian Drake for his sterling work here...

This kid is next in line for slaughter. Yes, tied to a shutter's handle, this pretty young thing was a sight to behold. With 2 of its own tied close by, with the future unknown, it did what it could - look from one person to another.

Various UNFI-supported independent retailers in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area collectively operate and advertise under the SHOP ‘n SAVE banner.
This location on Library Road in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania is owned by the Duritza family.
While inherited from SUPERVALU, the Pittsburgh-area SHOP ‘n SAVE stores operated separately from the defunct Shop ‘n Save chain in the St. Louis, Missouri area, which was directly owned and operated by SUPERVALU.
Unrelated to the independent retailers supplied by Hannaford in New England.

Page 3 of "The Boy Who Savd the Train" written and illustrated by Niloufar when she was in second grade at Swift Elementary. The Young author writes, "Suddenly, he got an idea. “Yes this is the only way to stop the train and save people on the train,” he thought to himself.
Reza knew he must help people from getting hurt and injured if the train hits the rocks. The boy took off his shirt and tied it to a long stick. Then, he set his shirt on fire. He started running toward the train because he had to stop that train right away. Reza was very hopeful that his plan would save the train and its passengers."
