3月18日晚間馬英九先去凱道，參加由達賴喇碼西藏宗教基金會(董事長才嘉)、藏人團體代表(覺安和馬蕭競選總部青年團，在凱達格蘭大道上為反對中共武力鎮壓，全民連署聲援西藏，所舉辦祈福連署燭光晚會。
然後在蘇俊賓、郝龍斌與隨扈陪同下，馬英九從凱道走向自由廣場，向正在廣場邊靜坐的另一派藏人團體致意。總統大選分藍、綠兩陣營，今晚連藏人也分別凱道與自由廣場兩處辦活動。
馬英九對西藏事件發表六點聲明:
1. 中華民國是一個主權獨立的民主國家，台灣的前途必須由兩千三百萬台灣人民來決定，不容中共干預。中共總理溫家寶的說法，蠻橫無理、自大、愚蠢，自以為是，無視二千三百萬台灣人民的主流民意。我們要對此表達最嚴重的抗議。
2. 我們的政策一向是「以台灣為主，對人民有利」。在這樣的精神下，我們認為維持現狀的「三不」，也就是「不統、不獨、不武」最能合乎台灣的主流民意與兩岸關係的需求。
3. 重返聯合國是兩千三百萬台灣人民共同的希望，我們會持續的努力！
4. 這次中共使用武力鎮壓西藏人民，是極為蠻橫與愚蠢的行為，應予強烈譴責，我也呼籲全體台灣人民與全球友人共同譴責中共。我也要求中共當局立刻停止鎮壓與搜捕西藏人民的作法。
5. 我會以中華民國總統候選人的身分，去電友邦，聲援西藏人民，聲援達賴，要求大家共同譴責中共，並要求中共停止武力鎮壓，與達賴對話。
6. 如果中共當局繼續鎮壓西藏人民，西藏情勢繼續惡化，若我當選中華民國總統，將不排除停止派團前往北京參加2008年奧運。

We went to a friend of Jeff's Dad's hockey game and watched a game afterwards. There was a girl playing goal against the boys. I think that's really awesome. I took a ton of pictures of her.
