Tour de Fat is New Belgium Brewing’s traveling celebration of all things bicycle, honoring mankind’s greatest invention. Born in Fort Collins, Colorado, to increase awareness and participation in cycling as a sustainable form of transportation, Tour de Fat has grown into a national rite of passage for cycling advocates and bon vivants alike.
The annual celebration in its hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado is a sensation worthy of a visit all by itself. The bike parade is a funky, mostly-family-friendly amalgamation of Mardi Gras, Halloween, Carnival, Cosplay, and Gender-Bending Freak Show. With day-drinking. And the occasional "risky jorts" as part of a costume.
New Belgium has eight "carnies" on staff that manage these events across the country. In Fort Collins, a featured event during Tour de Fat is "car for bike" where a commuter donates their car and pledges to commute by bike; they get a free Fat Tire bike in exchange.

I say this everytime, but I think Im done with Six Flags. Amusement parks are just too much, not even the rollercoasters can cheer me up when Im bombarded with shitty overpriced foods, advertisements everywhere (Really a big banner for hair gel across the "haunted house" Poltergeist ride?) and 1 hr wait times. I'll stick to my true love: Carnivals, Delicious treats, dirty carnies, night time neon lights....
Today starts in Pamplona The Running of the Bulls.
The magnificent animals who slip and slide on the streets of Pamplona during the “Running of the Bulls” are later barbarically killed – all in the name of “tradition”. Torturing and killing a defenceless animal should not be celebrated as tradition. People have always tried to use tradition to justify horrible things, such as child labour and slavery. But tradition doesn’t make something right. Bullfighting is a cruel blood sport that should have been relegated to the history books a long time ago. No matter what its history is, bullfighting consists of the torture, mutilation and slaughter of animals for entertainment.

I made a mock "Save the Date" with Stoli. My Fiance wasn't too impressed but I thought it was adorable!

Two years after B.C. introduced Canada's toughest provincial impaired driving law, an estimated 104 lives have been saved and impaired driving has dropped significantly.
At an event today to mark the National Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims and Mothers Against Drunk Driving's 25th annual Project Red Ribbon, Justice Minister and Attorney General Shirley Bond announced preliminary road-crash fatality data for the two years ending Sept. 30, 2012, and the results of a recent driver impairment survey.

WESTERN DARFUR ON VERGE OF ABYSS, UNDER-SECRETARY-GENERAL FOR HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS
WARNS SECURITY COUNCIL IN BRIEFING FOLLOWING RECENT VISIT TO DARFUR, UGANDA
For More Than 1,000 Days, Nights, Darfur’s Defenceless Civilians
Fear for Lives; Sudanese Government’s Failure to Protect Is ‘Shameful’
With a volatile mix of Government forces, militias, rebels and armed opposition groups from Chad roaming freely throughout much of the Sudan’s western Darfur spreading fear and terror, the United Nations top humanitarian official warned the Security Council that war-torn western Darfur was close to the abyss, and suggested that faster progress in the peace process could be made if those negotiating in hotels in big cities did so in the refugee camps, accompanied by their wives and children.
Briefing the Council on his recent visits to Darfur and northern Uganda, Jan Egeland, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, said “for more than a thousand days and a thousand nights, the defenceless civilians of Darfur have been in fear for their lives, and the lives of their children. The Government’s failure to protect its own citizens even in areas where there are no rebels, has been shameful and continues. So does our own failure, more than a year after world leaders in this very building pledged their own responsibility to protect civilians where the Government manifestly fails to do so.”

With full containment of the Springs Fire expected by tomorrow, I found my spirits uplifted by seeing that this landscape has not been scorched. One finger of the fire line at least reached just beyond the rocky ridge line here in the Santa Monica Mountains, and some of my favorite hiking is in these parts. After losing some really beloved trails to the "Station Fire" in the San Gabriel Mountains back in 2009, I was fearful that this section had burned. Thanks to the efforts of firefighters and some very fortunate changes in the weather, this landscape is unburned for now. Next time I hike here I will appreciate the green views much more!

Came back from the vet hospital (not clinic...hospital). The visit hours are between 8 pm and 9 pm! We (Dan, my mom, her boyfriend and I) sat on the floor in a little private room and gave as much affection as possible to Brian for 1 short hour. Poor baby was on morphine and had problem laying down bacause of his intravenous kit (the green thing on his leg). So I made him a "nest" with my scarf and he slept there for a few minutes. He looked so happy to see us.
The doctor gave us in a little plastic container the object that was stuck in Brian intestine: a 3/4in by 1in piece of rubber ball that he probably got at the dog park. I will keep it forever as a souvenir of the trip to Berlin that we won't do this year! Bye bye 2500-3000$ !!!! I really LOVE my dog!
He is coming back tomorrow :)
This guys foot was injured in a parking lot ... they think it might have been run over ... he was turned over to the emergency hospital for treatment, then to Rikki's Refuge. Nothing broken, but foot badly abraded ... he's getting healing treatment and therapy, here swimming in warm water, till he heals, then he'll join the other ducks at Rikki's.
