I was in Colorado the past week for my step-brother's wedding. We were staying near Telluride, so Emily and I went off-roading in the San Juan National Forest last Monday. I was juggling taking photos with the new film camera, my phone, and the D700. It was an on/off stormy day so as I was rushing to get back into the car with the oncomming rain, I pulled the most bonehead of all bonehead moves and left the D700 with the 50mm 1.4 AIS on the bumper of the Jeep. Unfortunately I did not realize this until 90 minutes later. Emily and I spent another 90 minutes driving back to the spot and spent 2 hours searching for it. It was gone.
I was pretty down the next day until I get a call at 6pm from the Cortez, CO Police Dept asking if I lost a camera. They looked through the camera and saw this photo with the car's license plate. It is registered to my parents' place in CO. Needless to say it was a great moment. The next day I drove the 75 Miles to Cortez to pick my camera up from an office attached to a jail. It was even in an evidence bag when they brought it out. An anonymous woman ran across it in the National Forest and turned it in. The camera was covered in dust, but worked perfectly. It withstood the weather perfectly. The next day I was out I took 325 photos to make up for losing it for 48 hours. Those are on the way.
For the farmer working this land, his sheep were his most important asset. As the fire came up the valley, the Mittagong Rural Fire Service crew were ordered to protect these sheep and more which were rounded up from a neighbouring paddock also under threat.
This fire was in the Wyangala Dam area north of Crookwell, New South Wales, Australia

My friend Peggy (who took this photo) works in kangaroo rescue, helping orphaned joeys survive and be returned to the wild. Now the government of Australia has started a kangaroo slaughter to cull herds which have grown too large, rather than relocate them. I'm asking people to go here and read the material, watch the video, and sign the petition expressing outrage and urging the government to relocate the animals, rather than killing them in cold blood.
When I saw this sticker on this fishermans truck I started laughing. I had to get this capture for you guys.
Happy Hump Day my Flickr friends.
And KLnyc, please save the chicken bro...

"Lynas Corporation says the waste is safe"
We are pleas to cancel the radioactive rare earths project. Lynas project will endanger locals and the environment.
Malaysia has experienced a deadly thorium disaster before, which is still being cleaned up.
Do you want to repeat history just for the profit? What if you kids become retarded and you end up having cancer? Have you ever thought about it?
Is time to spread the green tide to the world! Say no to Lynas & Save Malaysia.
