My friends are getting married in September, and asked if I would snap some shots of their poser dogs for the "Save the Date" postcards that they will be sending out soon.
This is Buddy (American Bulldog) and Millie (Pug). A hilarious photo shoot, and yes, the dogs were properly humiliated. Two more in comments.
Though it looks beautiful, the bites are deadly. Besides malaria, dengue is a dangerous fever spread by a species of mosquito known as Aedes aegypti. It destroys the platelets in the blood and if untreated timely proves fatal.

More progress on the third section of drainage brought an interesting obstacle: a tree root. I didn't want to kill the root, so I chose to tunnel the pipe under the root!
As we were walking to the train station, I saw this Ewok left in a puddle. My brother insisted I take it as we both felt strangely sorry for it. So he took the 60 mile journey with me home and is now sitting on a shelf in my study. Saved.
Red Weasel Media RWM decided to step out of the box and do something a little different this time. We wanted to do a gas mask photo shoot. We used a red enola gaye smoke grenade for some of the pictures and we used the 5 minute everlasting smoke grenades. I will say that they really do continue to smoke for 5 minutes. At some point we were scared that somebody was going to call the fire department to report a fire in the wooded area of Red Wing Park in Virginia Beach Virginia. We used a beauty dish as the source of light along with the Nikon 24-70mm lens, Nikon 35mm lens, and the Nikon wide angle lens.

Today I hiked in a remote wilderness area of Zion National Park.
In 2009 over 124,000 acres of Zion was designated as a wilderness. This designation insures that 84% of the Park will continues to be a place where nature is untrampled by humans, a place where people are visitors who do not remain. Wilderness is a rare place where one can retreat from civilization and reconnect with nature. Understanding and respect for these wild and undeveloped places will ensure that they remain spectacular for years to come.

In August 2014 the Hamilton County Commissioners voted to put on the ballot for this November a one-quarter of one percent sales tax increase that by law is limited to five years to fund the restoration of Cincinnati Union Terminal.
The tax would generate nearly $172 million in revenue-- and when it is combined with historic tax credits, contributions from the State of Ohio, and philanthropic fundraising efforts it will allow for the complete repair and restoration of Union Terminal.
Hamilton County residents will not be the only ones paying for this. The Economics Center at the University of Cincinnati analyzed and determined that approximately 47% of the sales tax collected in Hamilton County comes from people who live outside the county, thus relieving the tax burden on local residents.
Additionally, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that the sales tax increase would cost the average resident just $23 per year. The Hamilton County Commissioners also put in the proposal that by law this increase would end after just five years.
The successful passage of Issue 8 will allow us to preserve Union Terminal and guarantee that it will continue to be an essential part of our region's great heritage. Future generations will benefit from our investment now-- ensuring that our children, and grandchildren, are able to enjoy Union Terminal.
Decades of time, outdated construction techniques and years of freezing and thawing have taken its toll on Union Terminal. But, repairs can be made to the exterior envelope of Union Terminal to prevent water damage and to the steel structures underneath, making the building fit for a very long time into our future. Additional repairs and renovations to outdated mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems will make Union Terminal more efficient and create more opportunities for activities within the building.
There are many ways to become involved with the campaign. First and foremost is to make sure you are registered to vote by October 6 and vote 'Yes' on Election Day, November 4th.

Although the Piedmont Avenue Library was fairly doomed even before the recent Oakland budget crisis, since the new owner of the library building intends to start charging market rate rent for it instead of the current deeply discounted rent.
My friend Peggy (who took this photo) works in kangaroo rescue, helping orphaned joeys survive and be returned to the wild. Now the government of Australia has started a kangaroo slaughter to cull herds which have grown too large, rather than relocate them. I'm asking people to go here and read the material, watch the video, and sign the petition expressing outrage and urging the government to relocate the animals, rather than killing them in cold blood.
Truth from God's Holy Word. This is in the Old Testament, yet it is referring to Faith in Jesus Christ, thousands of years before God became a man, to die and take away our sins Forever!
We are save by grace, through Faith in Jesus and all that HE accomplished for us. Not because of anything we do, it's all Jesus! Period, there is NOTHING YOU can do to improve on the sufficiency of Christ Jesus. So the Nation, whose PEOPLE trust in Jesus, shall NEVER be put to shame. We are Blessed because of YOU O LORD, AND YOU ALONE!
You want to be blessed? You don't have to move to America, all you have to do, is place saving faith in the ONE that did it ALL, and regardless of where in this world you live. YOU will be blessed by the ONE that created both heaven and earth and all there is in them.
What makes this Nation so special, so blessed? Because the people call upon the Name of the Lord, who is Jesus.
