First sighting! These are what we came to see, American Pitcher Plants. They are sprinkled throughout the savanna below the grasses.

Drove to Louisiana by way of Mobile, AL to see a couple pitcher plant bogs around that area. As you can see they were in prime flowering!

The wasp is drinking nectar produced along the "wing" of the pitcher.

This one had an odd ghostly pastel hue. Sarracenia alata, Jasper Co. TX

Drove to Louisiana by way of Mobile, AL to see a couple pitcher plant bogs around that area. As you can see they were in prime flowering!

Kisatchie National Forest, April 2016. I couldn't have taken a picture from any angle that would have captured how many thousands of pitcher plants were in bloom here. It was definitely a sight to behold.
