Here's the sandbox with the gardener's weed cloth I stapled on the bottom to prevent weeds from growing up but let the water through.

Diggin' in the sand.

It was a bit rainy and very soggy, but she couldn't resist the lure of the sandbox. She'd climb in, get frustrated because the sand was so sticky and clumpy...climb out for a minute, then climb back in...then get frustrated again, take her soggy shoes off and stand in stocking-feet in the sandbox....etc.

I shot this on a plastic toy camera called a Cmeha 35. It's got a plastic lens that goes from f4-16. the shutter goes from 15th to 250th/second. Its got a hot shoe and Ive been meaning to try some off camera flash stuff with it.

It was a pretty easy process too. I just took an ambient exposure reading with my D90 and knocked it down about a stop and a half.

I set up a flash on a stand already dialed in at 1/16 at like 10-12feet for f4 and iso400. I didn't really even have to test it thanks to this article (although i did anyway) it was dead on of course.

I love it. Its got this real old filmy quality and it looks alot sharper when you have some nice light coming in.

I believe this was a sandbox. It may have been a wading pool at an earlier time. At any rate, it was destroyed recently as the city has been quite suspiciously tearing apart school playgrounds and reconstructing them.

There goes the sandbox...

The Sandbox Project (sandboxproject.ca/) was created to respond to recent research conducted on behalf of the Government of Canada by Dr. Kellie Leitch in 2007/2008. After an exhaustive research period which took Dr. Leitch to all provinces and territories, she discovered that Canada is slipping further behind its peer countries when it comes to key health indicators for children and youth. For the first time in history, the current generation of children will have a shorter life-span than their parents (NEJM 2005.) Ensuring the health and wellness of our children is more than simply the right thing to do; it is critically important for our long-term well-being as a country.

Their vision is to help make Canada the healthiest place on earth for children and youth to grow up. Their goal is to make measurable progress against international health indicators within the next five years. In particular, they are focused on improving health outcomes with respect to injury prevention, obesity, mental health, and the environment.

Taken with Nikon EM and Tamron AF 19-36mm f/3.5-4.5 on Kodak T-Max 400 film.

This roll was shot half @ ISO400 and half @ ISO800. Developed with Kodak D-76 1+1 in 22°C for 10 minutes. All the frames were okay, although frames (like this) that were shot at ISO400 were lighter but not over-exposed, in my opinion.

A few words about this roll in blog.

Mint digging into sand playpen 1. She's very much in love with the sand playpens. I only wish Momo would share her enthusiasm for them, too, since Momo's coat needs more work than Mint's. Mint's coat is nice and soft already. =)
