Meet Sam I. Am, who lives in Memphis. Sam I. Am is a professional model. I know this because he told me I could take his picture if I give him some change. I think I gave him $2.00.

I was planning to do an epic Holi powder battle photoshoot, so while visiting Sam Petty in Austin, TX, we decided to test out a bit of the Holi powder.
This was on the first day of her last year of college, and even though she scrubbed herself raw after the shoot, not all the color came out. So she had to walk into her first senior classes looking orange & purple.
Have always though that the humble twin set is , for me, one of the great feminine outfits. Yes it may look a bit retro, but I still think they are a fabulous garment...perfect for the office!!
encontré esta foto escaneada revisando un cd de backup del 2003 de mi pc (!).
Estoy probando la cámara descartable que compre asi que hasta que la termine ...
I'll tell you right from the start, this is not a typical stranger portrait....
Sam approached me. I didn't approach him. He had seen me shooting an event a couple nights before and asked if I shot portraits.....
Sam is a blacksmith. He fabricates structural as well as ornamental iron work for a business here in JH. He grew up in Colorado and after high school he attended a massage school. He learned quickly that it was hard to find work in that saturated market. Sam likes to build things too so he applied for an apprenticeship with blacksmith in Pine, CO and was chosen out of twenty applicants. He spent four years apprenticing and another few years working before moving to Wyoming.
In his spare time Sam creates artistic ornaments and sculptures. He is showing at his first art fair this summer. He asked me if I'd shoot pictures of him working and some pictures of his work for his website. I went to the shop where he works and the rest is history....
images of him working will be posted soon.
