Two shots in memory of Sam. They were taken about a week before he was put to sleep (aged approx 15/16). We had had a terrible time with fleas, and even with him gone it's taken us a while to get them all out of the house. He had to enjoy/endure(!) regular shampoos, brushes and even vacuuming to relieve his itching! Poor old fella!

The Hanjun State Guard finally got the missile system they had been screaming for after a crash development program and some questionable applications of patent law.
The Surface to Air Missile - Inertial Ascent, Mobile complex forms a critical component of Hanjun's air defense in a world where nuclear annihilation is a twenty minute flight away.
I normally visit the Saddle River County Park in Glen Rock, N.j. Today 3/11/08 was a beautiful a very sunny day and Goose and Duck was too happy and was a nice day for good shots. I met photographer Sam Upchurch, I was very impressed with the lens he was use the Canon EF500mm and the Canon 1D Mark II. We have so much fun taking pictures of the birds. I stole this photos of him in action
Sam and I went for a nice long walk out to the Iona pilings after school/work on Friday.
We borrowed a couple of dogs. An obvious pair, Great Dane & Beagle.
Sam enjoyed climbing up the small sand cliff and then leaping off it.
We did a nice loop. Out along the beach during low tide and back over the headlands.
We bumped into Chun, a Flickr contact, which was a nice surprise.

This little pond dries up in high summer, but at this time of year is at it's peak, deep and mysterious.

This picture is #10 in the 100 Strangers Project - Round 3
Meet Sam
Its really difficult to miss Sam - and I say that despite her rather petite frame (and even though she had her hair all bundled upwhen I first saw her walking with her friend Zach). I hesitated on my initial approach when I saw them deeply engrossed in a conversation - but when I met her again on the way back I made my request. Her tied-up hair backlit by the evening sun, her strong eyes and that nose-ring just made her a great subject to photograph as did her slightly shy smile. After a very brief hesitation she agreed and Zach helped us with the reflector. Then Sam opened up her hair and revealed her fabulous curls and you would agree that I made a great choice making my request.
We did a few clicks with the sun in the back and I learned a little about this stunning lady. She hails from New York and works with child welfare.Her favorite quality of herself - her warm nature and ability to connect with people. She spoke very pleasantly in soft calm tones - almost zen like.Turns out she loves yoga - I teased her about her "monk" like vibe. Her favorite memory was her stint in a small village in Panama for her fellowship.
I do not think Sam liked these pictures much - but I was personally quite pleased. The fun part for me was when she complained - paraphrased "don't know what to do with this face?". All I could think was "just enjoy it my friend - you look awesome". Turns out she has also done some modeling last year which really didn't completely surprise me - she just had a standout personality.
Thanks a lot Sam for being a sport and doing these pictures (and to Zach for his patience and helping out). Wish you both all the very best for your futures.

The reason Sam's Point got its name was because "a man named Sam, pursued by Indians, jumped off the cliff to avoid capture and miraculously survived the drop with the trees breaking his fall. " - Wikipedia.
Have always though that the humble twin set is , for me, one of the great feminine outfits. Yes it may look a bit retro, but I still think they are a fabulous garment...perfect for the office!!
Sam is one of the "Beautiful Magicians' Club", they were performing a show at Covent Garden.
He told me he is going to Egypt next week and was happy to know I'm Egyptian.
I wish him a happy trip!
