It is said that seeing a lotus in your dream, represents growth, love, purity, beauty and expansion of the soul.

Lotus comes from the Greek word "lotos" and the Sanskrit name is padma, it is an ancient and universal symbol.

"It is the flower sacred to nature and her Gods, and represents the abstract and the Concrete Universes, standing as the emblem of the productive powers of both spiritual and physical nature.

It was held sacred from the remotest antiquity by the Aryan Hindus, the Egyptians, and the Buddhists after them; revered in China and Japan, and adopted as a Christian emblem by the Greek and Latin Churches, who made of it a messenger as the Christians do now, who replace it with the water lily.

It had, and still has, its mystic meaning which is identical with every nation on the earth" (SD 1:379 - Theosophy Dictionary on Lotus).

A few days ago I saw this pond on the left of the road, somewhere, in the Indian state of Bihar as we were driving from Varanasi to Bodh Gaya.

It was early in the morning at sunrise and it was still very foggy, there were many lotusses waiting for the sun and their reflection on the muddy waters was providing a dreamy kind of atmosphere.

I thought then that showing this image upside down would emphasize the effect...

Cobblestone streets connecting whitewashed houses with blue shutters and doors are trademarks of Sidi Bou Said near Tunis, Tunisia. Trendy cafes and art galleries flourish here.

who said three is a crowd? two of my lovely friends Vanessa and Kay.

We had a fab night a coupe of weeks ago hitting the sleepy town of bury St Edmunds after a meal we had a stroll; to a bar close by for a few drinks before heading off home.

This is what I like about the UK today. girls like us can be ourselves in the real world in mainstream venues and not a soul is bothered,

See I do get out :-)

Well here it is folks, the finished product. I made this because I loved Delta's M53 and he jokingly said hey you should SPW it, so I said why the hell not. And so here it is.\

♬♪In my ears and heart♪♫

You say what if I hurt you, what if I leave you

What if I find somebody else and I don't need you

What if this goes south, what if I mess you up

You say what if I break your heart in two then what

Well I hear you girl, I feel you girl but not so fast

Before you make your mind up I gotta ask

What if I was made for you and you were made for me

What if this is it, what if it's meant to be

What if I ain't one of them fools just playin' some game

What if I just pulled you close, what if I leaned in

And the stars line up and it's our last first kiss

What if one of these days baby I'd go and change your name

What if I loved all these what ifs away.....

but shhh... don't tell anyone this is here ;)

Paddy .. locked into target (which happened to be his mum ,, not a sheep).

A characteristic of the border collie is the herding eye. It’s been said that “when working, this breed will usually be seen in the crouched position, with their alert eyes fixed on the job in hand. The ‘hypnotic’ eye characteristic is probably more defined in the Border Collie than any other breed and it is this quality which makes them so superb in herding sheep, using their eyes to guide a herd without the need to nip or bark.”

And that “most people admire a dog that works with its head low to the ground, with its hindquarters high and its tail tucked between its hind legs. They can run as fast as the wind, yet stop in an instant or switch directions without stopping. They don’t take their eyes off their sheep. Their intense gaze is focused on the stock, willing them to obey, to go where the dog directs them, to stop if the dog blocks their path. The stock aren’t rushed or afraid, but they certainly respect the dog. A good Border Collie’s obsession is its livestock, and this is as it should be.”

Idiane (Brazil) @ Max-Joseph-Platz in Munich

***

The encounter with Idiane was caused by a bottle, better said triggered by the shadow of a bottle.

On my way home I was passing the monument at Max-Joseph-Platz and saw some people sitting there enjoying the late afternoon sun on the warm dark stone of the socket. I decided to take a picture of this peaceful scenery with my 85mm lens and tried to get a harmonic & symmetric composition with a close framing from the appropriate distance. Without a tripod I needed several sets of images using the bracketing function to get the desired result with respect to brightness, sharpness, orientation and without unwanted persons or cars in the composition.

During the last set of three captures - triggered by the selftimer - the person in the middle lifted a bottle and this movement gave a nice detail with the shadow on the stone.

Therefore I went over to show this unexpectedly snapshot to her and asked for permission to publish the photo on a Internet platform like flickr. So an entertaining talk about photography, architecture and her inclination to vintage objects and retro design arose and I had the opportunity to introduce the "100 strangers"-project to her. Thereupon I could take a few portrait photos of her and we optimized the composition step by step to get a relaxed posture without posing. The facade of the former "Residenz-Post" gave a nice blurred background with a matching colour combination.

Idiane comes from Brazil as a tourist and was visiting friends in Munich. She spent only a few days here and I am glad to show her portrait in my personal photo project "100 Strangers".

Idiane, I hope you enjoyed your visit in Europe and Germany, especially Munich. Thank You for participating in my photo project and the nice contact. I hope the chosen image is your favourite, too - it was hard to decide which one to select.

Though it is said that one should not feed wild animals, many of us still do. The result is hindrance in our own free movement without taking extra care of one’s bags in temples and other public places. This is a common scene in temples in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka & Andhra.. The availability of food had helped their population multiply, making it difficult to control them.

I said before that September was shaping up to be yellow aircraft month, but I didn't expect this Beech Staggerwing! Dating from 1938, it was initially a private/business aircraft and at one time owned by Imperial Oil. After WW-II it flew charters with Northern Wings in Quebec until the C of A lapsed in 1956. Nothing further known until it resurfaced with a Vancouver based owner in 2004. March 2015 saw a belly landing at Abbotsford/BC, from which it has obviously recovered.

21. DA SAID ”MEN DON'T CRY”

Front Street, Hetton le hole, DH5 9PF

What3words - parks.flamenco.targeted

The “Da Said ‘Men Don’t Cry’” sculpture by Ray Lonsdale is a deeply moving tribute to Hetton-le-Hole’s mining heritage. Unveiled in April 2019, it depicts a young boy—around 10 years old—on his first day heading down the mine, dressed in period clothing and holding his bait and lamp. A paternal figure rests a reassuring hand on his shoulder, capturing a moment of quiet strength and vulnerability.

Crafted from Corten steel, the statue reflects Lonsdale’s signature style—raw, weathered, and emotionally resonant. It was commissioned by the community group Culture for Hetton and funded by over 500 families and local organizations, raising £51,000 in total. The names of those who contributed are inscribed around the plinth, and a time capsule lies beneath, not to be opened until 2069.

The title, “Da Said ‘Men Don’t Cry’”, evokes the stoicism expected of mining families, while the sculpture itself gently challenges that notion with its tender portrayal of father and son. It’s not just a monument—it’s a memory cast in steel.

Old graveyard, extremely run down, full of weeds, with stones knocked over everywhere.

'Nuff said! Last one in this little collection of pix that could be called "Emotions." Thank you all so much for indulging me and my definitions of what each of these feelings entails. Your comments mean the world to me.

Well by now you've figured out

where we were at this morning.

Left around 8:22AM for the temple

with a bunch of food for the nuns

& ah bunch of kibble 4 the dogs.

A number of storms passed through

last night leaving lots of water on

the road. By daylight they had

stopped. Ride out was wet

from the road but no

rain falling on us.

Didn't stay to long but did enjoy

the time we spent with the nuns.

Nuns said the government will be filling

up The Dog Palace again starting on

Wednesday, tomorrow. Covid has

exploded once again and is

taking quite a toll here !

The price of fuel has sky rocketed

just like everywhere else in the world.

The vegetables for the nuns has gone

from 30 baht to100 baht. That is from

$1 USD to $3 USD. This's insane ;-0-

And that was a small bag of greens.

A liter of fuel went up 35% overnight !

Plan to return to the temple next

week to give all the dogs their

monthly injections. We left

meds for Molly's monkey

bite. Little late but it

is what it is. That's

the best we can

do right now.

Thanks goes out again

for all your support ;-)

Thank You.

.....there was a big wheel around here somewhere?

I can't see it. Can you?

There are NO prizes!!

Nobody said it was easy

No one ever said it would be this hard

Sidi Bou Said (Tunis) is all about white and blue, at least during daylight. It doesn't always show up as well at night, which is the only time I was able to get there. Many of the doorways have a similar Mediterranean style.

As many of you have pointed out, I have tortured and abused Peeps in the most vile ways. Let it be said, I did so with the purest of intents, in the name of science, and let us be done with the incriminations. I have tried my best to study these squishy little Easter creatures to find out what makes them so appealing. They are cute. They have longevity, with the power to reappear year, after year, after bloody year. They are slowly taking on every colour in a sixty-four box of Crayola crayons, which as a side note are quite edible, even though one should not eat their crayons. If you find yourself shipwrecked at sea, enough of them tied together could be used as a flotation device, until you are rescued or eaten by a shark; the shark having the good sense to eat only what is edible, leaving the peeps raft behind. As one last experiment, I prepared a salad and before I could finish off my greens, I doused it with my favourite ranch dressing......still, it is totally inedible. Sigh.....

Disclaimer: No Peeps were harmed in the taking of these images. Well....except for the one I hacked apart with the knife AND the one I squished with a brick AND maybe this one drowned by ranch dressing, BUT no others.....trust me.....

Happy Easter, Everyone :-))

This is me and my alter ego, Don Gato (Mr Cat).

I have heard it said that people look like their pets,

or that pets look like their people.

Mr Cat was a master of disguise and an accomplished

impersonator. He mocked me and imitated me

every chance he got.

He really liked wearing my "Stars and Stripes"

headband and sunglasses. He thought

he looked really cool in them.

He disappeared from Mar Marine

about two and a half years ago.

I think he was "catnapped."

I sure miss him. He was my best friend

and an awesome boat cat.

When we lived at Bruno's he used to chase rats

all the time. Monica gave him a can of tuna

every time he killed a rat.

Needless to say he was constantly hunting for rats,

that is when he wasn't sleeping, demanding

attention or begging for food.

"... Es como sostener el tazón de té, como recordar esta canción en días así, el que fuera el tono de llamadas en la madrugada, es como olvidar lo que pasó sin olvidar lo que se vivió, es como cortarnos la carne angustiados porque las frases escritas en los muros, en la piel no fueron suficientes, es como despedirse desde lejos, es como algo que no conosco pero que sé como se siente, es como llevarme los matices diferentes de tus ojos uno más claro que el otro, es como el té de 6 cucharadas de azucar y el de una, But I’m thinking of what Sarah said, That love is watching someone die

So who’s gonna watch you die? So who's gonna watch you die..."

The forecast said Fog but very little at home and it looked patchy driving out of Sheffield. It was looking foggier to the South so headed to this spot and shot this one just before sunrise. Great that Sunrise is 8:21am I could afford a cup of tea in bed before heading out

A better view of what I wore to work last Saturday.

Probably not the choice considering I was doing my real job inspecting accident damaged vehicles for insurance companies.

It was a good experience it has to be said, Imagine if you can being one of my customers a guy in his late forties with a ford ford with front end damage, You walk into the building up to the bodyshop desk and find me! You introduce yourself and i respond by confirming who you are the model and reg of the car you own followed by OK i will be right with you.

You look not really believing what has just happened.

I had that look twice, Not so much the my being trans but more it was me who was going to inspect the damage.

It got even better at the vehicle with me bending over the engine bay, kneeling down to look at the damage and explaining how we were going to repair the damage or advising that the vehicle was a total loss.

Each customer was very good and after the initial reaction they settled and accepted the situation. The reaction would have been same had i been a genetic woman.

So my first customer facing work experience went brilliantly.

However storm clouds are gathering on the horizon. Don't worry nothing bad as such.

Although he is known by many other attributes, Ganesha's elephant head makes him particularly easy to identify. In Hinduism, Ganesha is widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles. and more generally as the Lord of Beginnings and the Lord of Obstacles, patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. He is honoured at the beginning of rituals and ceremonies and invoked as the Patron of Letters during writing sessions.Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with his birth and exploits and explain his distinct iconography.

The most well-known story is probably the one taken from the Shiva Purana. Once, while his mother Parvati wanted to take a bath, there were no attendants around to guard her and stop anyone from accidentally entering the house. Hence she created an image of a boy out of turmeric paste which she prepared to cleanse her body (turmeric was used for its antiseptic and cooling properties), and infused life into it, and thus Ganesha was born. Parvati ordered Ganesha not to allow anyone to enter the house, and Ganesha obediently followed his mother's orders. After a while Shiva returned from outside, and as he tried to enter the house, Ganesha stopped him. Shiva was infuriated at this strange little boy who dared to challenge him. He told Ganesha that he was Parvati's husband, and demanded that Ganesha let him go in. But Ganesha would not hear any person's word other than his dear mother's. Shiva lost his patience and had a fierce battle with Ganesha. At last he severed Ganesha's head with his trishula. When Parvati came out and saw her son's lifeless body, she was very angry and sad. She demanded that Shiva restore Ganesha's life at once.

Unfortunately, Shiva's trishula was so powerful that it had hurled Ganesha's head very far off. All attempts to find the head were in vain. Parvati was so enraged and insulted that she decided to destroy the entire Creation! Lord Brahma, being the Creator, naturally had his issues with this, and pleaded that she reconsider her drastic plan. She said she would, but only if two conditions were met: one, that Ganesha be brought back to life, and two, that he be forever worshipped before all the other gods. Sent Brahma out with orders to bring back the head of the first creature he crosses that is laying with its head facing North. Shiva then sent his celestial armies (Gana) to find and take the head of whatever creature they happened to find asleep with its head facing north. They found a dying elephant which slept in this manner, and after its death took its head, attaching the elephant's head to Ganesha's body and bringing him back to life. From then on, he was called Ganapathi, head of the celestial armies, and was to be worshipped by everyone before beginning any activity.
