For the first time in a decade (just slight over actually), I have some of my artwork where other people can see it (well, I guess people have been able to see what I've been up to via the interwebs for years now...)

This is an open, small works photography show (which is a bit of a different direction for me). There will be works by The Captain, Gamp and myself on display there. And a whole bunch of other people that I don't know.

Here's the when and the where:

WEE: A Small Works Show

My second time to BMCC in 6 years. Took advantage of this free bus service (although later walked back to the city centre to Eastside).

Here's the design for the upcoming new building. I really like it

History of the site:

After 40 years in business the Neptune Diner located in Astoria, Queens, NYC served its last meal on Sunday, July 29. 2024. The owners claimed they were not given a chance to renew their lease, because the property will soon be turned into a residential building.

Since 1983, The Katsihtis brothers have owned the building on Astoria Boulevard but not the land, which was sold in 2018 for over $10 million.

The brothers also had a 35-year lease which expired in 2019. But since then, they were not able to come to a long-term agreement with the landlord.

But that's what Long Island City/Astoria needs is another apartment building. It's already so overbuilt, it's ridiculous. Yet they keep tearing them down and building new ones, many of which are luxury rentals. The neighborhood is losing its character to steel and glass.

Seen at the 2017 Joint Base Andrews Air Show, held to honor the 70th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Air Force. Joint Base Andrews is located in Maryland, very close to Washington, DC.

He appeared in the Jimmy Neutron Episode "Safety First" known as another bully. He also gave Jimmy a rough time. He's not as funny as Carl or Sheen.

For getting on and off the special train at VD yard, the railroad safety team did a classy job of setting secure step ladders in place. VD yard is near Flatbush Avenue terminal.

We think that its pretty cool that the staff of Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park are fans of The Ventures.

As we get the larger pieces ready, we're posting a new photo from the 2013 Memphis Barbecue Tour to the Manic Facebook and Twitter pages most days this month, so follow us if you'd like to see more #MEMPHQ work.

Here Melissa cuts down an old dead tree to block the old trail as we try to open up a new spur that is a bit further inland . The old trail was getting too much erosion along the cliff.

"SAFETY FIRST" -a blue light special and a derail marks the spot on the McHenry branch where a Metra train sits for the weekend. This shot is looking north towards Wisconsin. The branch line terminates a couple of miles north of here, at a chemical plant in Ringwood--but Metra trains go no further north than McHenry station.

Yet there is talk of a new yard being built north of town...
