So I cut my hair at the weekend, and decided not to bother with product while it is so short. But this makes it much more susceptible to 'helmet hair' and that triple mohawk effect. Of course, I don't feel it most of the time, but when I checked the mirror this evening I understood why people were making comments about how I should go to the barbers and actually ask them to shave the flattened bits right off. Yuh, right.
Now, why this shot like this? Well, some people when they run out of time and have to do "just a quick shot tonight" still manage to make flippin' masterpieces (though in this case, Daz* can be forgiven, as he also had some great news to share). In my case, however, when I run out of time, you're going to get 30 seconds from me, the first shot out of the camera and not a lot of planning. Stupidly, I left it set to RAW, so this total non-masterpiece has at least been expertly dealt with by RawTherapee.
Our first Color It Safe drawing contest drew 15 awesome entries by the children of DAVIS employees! Entrants were invited to draw a picture of what their moms and dads (or grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc) do at work, while incorporating a safety-on-the-job theme – because as we all know, safety is DAVIS’ #1 core value! The winning drawing will be featured on jobsite safety posters and materials. #SafetyFirst #ColorItSafe #WorkWithTheBest

My second time to BMCC in 6 years. Took advantage of this free bus service (although later walked back to the city centre to Eastside).

For the first time in a decade (just slight over actually), I have some of my artwork where other people can see it (well, I guess people have been able to see what I've been up to via the interwebs for years now...)
This is an open, small works photography show (which is a bit of a different direction for me). There will be works by The Captain, Gamp and myself on display there. And a whole bunch of other people that I don't know.
Here's the when and the where:

History of the site:
After 40 years in business the Neptune Diner located in Astoria, Queens, NYC served its last meal on Sunday, July 29. 2024. The owners claimed they were not given a chance to renew their lease, because the property will soon be turned into a residential building.
Since 1983, The Katsihtis brothers have owned the building on Astoria Boulevard but not the land, which was sold in 2018 for over $10 million.
The brothers also had a 35-year lease which expired in 2019. But since then, they were not able to come to a long-term agreement with the landlord.

But that's what Long Island City/Astoria needs is another apartment building. It's already so overbuilt, it's ridiculous. Yet they keep tearing them down and building new ones, many of which are luxury rentals. The neighborhood is losing its character to steel and glass.

This Pierce Velocity fire engine "Courage" is pink to raise awareness of breast cancer.
Seen at the 2017 Joint Base Andrews Air Show, held to honor the 70th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Air Force. Joint Base Andrews is located in Maryland, very close to Washington, DC.
He appeared in the Jimmy Neutron Episode "Safety First" known as another bully. He also gave Jimmy a rough time. He's not as funny as Carl or Sheen.
