The Penetanguishene Naval Establishment built on this property was a result of the War of 1812, when the United States declared war against Great Britain. The land became the site of a naval and military base designed to protect against a possible American invasion through Lake Huron.

Pounding surf this day as a leftover of an East Coast low pressure system. However, nice and quiet at this rocky end of the beach. Bournda Beach in the Bournda National Park NSW.
The birdflu threatens the cranes on their migration this year - the reports are devastating. Let's hope that enough will make it back next year!
