A very touching painted stone I found last Summer, ideal for today's Smile on Saturday theme "a touch of red". The message is the same nearly one year on, stay safe everyone & HSoS😄!

Lying like this at the beach and looking at the sky was so, so peaceful.

There are quite a few exciting shoots coming up this week, I can't wait!

I miss you guys, hope you're all doing well! xx

Abandoned laboratory

In a dark fortress of ancient stones,

she seeks refuge from the howling storms—

each weathered rock a steadfast sentinel,

cradling secrets too heavy for the wind to know.

Within these ancient walls, isolation is a cradle,

a sanctuary where vulnerability finds its voice.

Here, even every rough edge and hidden crevice

transforms silence into a hallowed echo of memory.

Waves of light, shimmering at the battlefield’s edge,

dance with the sea in a spectral ballet—

their fleeting glow caressing rugged stone,

whispering soft revelations against the dark.

In this interplay of shadow and luminescence,

solitude turns paradoxical—both refuge and crucible.

The fortress shields her, yet its very isolation

beckons a deeper journey into the self.

Each stone now holds more than age-worn scars,

it becomes the keeper of a true and unspoken name—

"Being lost," not as absence or despair,

but as the testament of a wandering soul in search of meaning.

The storm outside may rage and beat at the fortress,

but these rugged walls, bathed in the tender light of fleeting hope,

serve as a reminder that even in the midst of chaos,

our hidden truths find safe havens to bloom.

So, she stands among these ancient stones,

embracing solitude with open, weathered arms—

for in this silent fortress, the delicate dance of light and sea

reveals that being lost is merely the beginning of discovery.

And in the quiet pulse of the night, where nature and mystery entwine,

She uncovers that her solitude is not a void but a warm, secret embrace,

each stone a confidant, every flicker of luminous grace,

a metaphor for life’s eternal promise to shelter and transform.

I was just standing there, looking at the window. I didn't know what to do or say. I felt like everything was falling apart. The window was foggy and cold, like my heart. I wished I could see something different, something better. But all I saw was the same old street, the same old cars, the same old people. Nothing ever changed.

You Comfort Me

Sometimes it's tough to make it through the day

It's hard enough when all your dreams just seem so far away

I step outside to face a shade of gray oh

But even when darkness falls

I look into your eyes and I escape

Baby you comfort me

Only you remind me to breathe

When my life becomes invisible

You're the only light I need

Baby you comfort me

The faces change when time is on your side

The hand you trust can suddenly become a (?) of lies

The winds of war can leave no place to hide oh no

Until I hear a voice that calls

Lifts me up and carries me away

Baby you comfort me

Only you remind me to breathe

When my life makes me a prison

It's your love that sets me free

Baby you comfort me

My shelter from the rage of the storm (rage of the storm)

You take me to the place in time where my soul lifted

Safe and warm

Until I hear a voice that calls

Lifts me up and carries me away

Baby you comfort me

Only you can make me believe

When truth becomes invisible

You're the only light I need

When my life makes me a prison

It's your love that sets me free

Baby you, only you

Baby you, you comfort me

Oh yeah

Photographs taken off the Mochras causeway, North Wales

The causeway to Mochras, a tidal peninsula in North Wales famous for shells, wildflowers, and camping, it's often called "Shell Island" by visitors despite locals preferring the Welsh name.

Despite its name the site is not actually an island and is instead a peninsula located near the village of Llanbedr. Its main route is cut off at high tide - creating that island feel.

In fact the area was not even a peninsula until the intervention of part of the nobility in the 19th Century. The current estuary was formed following a diversion of the Afon Artro by the Earl of Winchilsea in 1819 to improve access to the wharf at Pensarn which was the shipment point for slate from Llanfair and Llanbedr.

The Mochras causeway floods twice daily with the tides, but it's not a constant, daily occurrence of being fully submerged; it's predictable and depends on high tide times, requiring visitors to check tide tables (available on the Shell Island website) for safe crossing windows. You must avoid crossing when the tide is in, as the road becomes impassable and dangerous, even for cars, with water levels rising significantly.

Here's another image from canyon Þakgil from summer of 2017. Her the camping site can be seen at the bottom of the valley. I will admit the hike up there wasn't long but not an easy one. Safe if you're careful. I was there with my family in 2017 and will visit later on my own where I can hike a bit more. Lot's of super dramatic scenery there. :)
